The one thing I'm missing - and I'm told this is like the holy grail of Slimming World - is he Free Branded Foods book (ideally the 2009 version). Does anyone have a copy I can have (or can someone get hold of one for me so I don't have to pay the membership fee)? I'd be happy to buy it from somone not looking to make exorbitant profits from it..!

Drop me a line if you can help out!

Mark

Your post has somehow managed to rub me up the wrong way

The main 'extra' book (aside from the Food Optimising, original and green one) is the Food Directory. This lists the syn values of thousands of branded items and is invaluable if you don't go to group.

Paying the membership fee gives you all sorts of benefits and the discipline of being weighed every week by someone else can be the main factor in being successful for many people.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

2nd weigh in through week and STS but was very bad for one full day so all in all not to bad, BUT, I've carried on being bad since then and it's only 2nd week, I am planning on being 100% from tomorrow. I've even given up on adding up how many syns I have used since Thursday:-(

Hello again!

Can anyone help me with this one? I've got some instant noodles (shanghai garden - I've been getting these since Tesco's value ones disappeared) and I would really like to know how to count them.

When I used to go to class (I do online now) the consultant said that if you didn't use the little sachet of flavouring or whatever it is, this sort of noodles would be free. I can't find them on syns online and have not been eating them this week as I am not sure. Any suggestions?

If they are dried noodles then yes they are free - all dried noodles are (green & EE) but it's the sachet that could have syns. Is there any nutritional infomration on the packet you can put into the syn calculator to see if the sachets are free? I know Sainsburys own noodles used to be about 3 syns just due to the sachet.

Thanks Skint_Catt.

I never eat the sachet anyway. I cook the noodles with some sweetcorn and put soy sauce on it. I don't know if this sounds weird but it is one of my favourite green day snacks! I don't eat too many though!

It sounds good! I used to love them for lunch the first time I did SW - in fact I may have some today! :D They sound good with sweetcorn - might try that!
• Im still 100% on track - just! First time I have ever stuck to it for so long! Went to toddler group this morning though, and succumbed to a quarter slice of white toast & marg - have no idea what the syn value would be though!

But you said you used gravy powder!
And Liz3yy's right - that syn value is for AFTER you add water!
If you used granules and used 2 tbsp of dry granules then this is the one you should use
Basic/Non Branded Foods Gravy granules, measured dry 1 level tbsp
red.gif Original 3½ Syns green.gif Green 3½ Syns

So you used 7 syns in the gravy you made up - and had half? 3.5syns was what you consumed.

Alright! sorry, I didnt realise there was a difference!

Hi everyone,

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

I've been Ok so far, got WI on Wed so these few days are crucial.

Got savory rice in the micro just now for lunch - yummers! Am having a green day today.

Manage to survive my rents dinner party on sat nite - they had bruchetta for starter, highly fattening full of cream carbonara for main and cheesecake for pudding! I had my tea earlier on beofre it started so not to be tempted with an omlette made with cheese, ham and tomatoes and a slice of toast.

Skint Catt and Astonsmummy both of you are good with the syn values of things - can you help me with the following syns for these mug shots ( on green days or EE please if poss)

Sweet N Sour
Roast Chicken
Tomato N Herb

Many Thanks
