Gravy powder is 0.5 syns per teaspoon (5ml) so a level tablespoon (20ml) of gravy powder has 2 syns - you used 2 tbsp so your gravy had 4 syns and you consumed half? So 2 syns for your gravy with your dinner.0 -

It's only syn-free if you allow it to cool then skim off the fat which will congeal on the topI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

astonsmummy wrote: »Yeah but how did you work out the syns/weights as they only give certain ones online dont they?
Well different brands of cocoa, sugar etc... don't vary that much I would have thought. I just found each ingredient and used the online syn finder to work out the amount of syns in each one. Not difficult really.
For instance I couldn't find the exact sugar I used online so I used normal caster sugar and rounded up the number of syns it stated online, also I overestimated the amount of syns that 150g worked out as.

Evening guys. Does anyone have any recipes for scrummy warming vegetable soups? Maybe something slightly spicy?
Thai style sweetcorn soup (Free on green)
2 x spring onions
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 pint chicken Bovril stock
418g can creamed-style sweetcorn
1 teaspoon chilli sauce
sea salt & freshly ground black pepper
Saute onion & garlic until soft but not brown
Stir in the stock, sweetcorn & chilli sauce
Bring to the boil, stirring. Season to taste. Serve at once
OPTIONAL - Add prawns or cooked chicken as HE & warm through.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Re the gravy, I read it to mean that 4 spoonfuls of gravy is when it's made up, as in "made as directed"
At least that's what I do when I make/use gravyThey have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson

But you said you used gravy powder!
And Liz3yy's right - that syn value is for AFTER you add water!
If you used granules and used 2 tbsp of dry granules then this is the one you should use
Basic/Non Branded Foods Gravy granules, measured dry 1 level tbsp
Original 3½ Syns
Green 3½ Syns
So you used 7 syns in the gravy you made up - and had half? 3.5syns was what you consumed.

Anyway.........! I reckon as long as you don't drown your grub in gravy then you'll be ok!They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
