This weather is getting me down, the kids are home from nursery and fed up too. We try and go out to the park or visiting gran in the afternoons, but its so wet and wild I cant face getting them all dressed to go out.
Is it too early to get crafting xmas decorations? lol. I got the Womans weekly xmas mag, it has some good recipes for xmas treats and crafts, was going to get the kids making some salt dough wreaths and characters, but dont want to overdo xmas stuff to early then it wont be so much fun in December.
The mag also had patterns for making some small felt teddy bears, I got the felt and stuffing yesterday to give them ago, hopefully this will keep my hands busy in the evenings so I dont nibble.

    having a green day today
Brekkie 2 weetabix , banana and milk (hea, heb)
lunch Spaghetti hoops on toast and a cuppa (heb)
Dinner - quorn chilli, with baked beans and rice (windy miller)
    snacks, yoghurts and fruit.

  • Can anyone give me some advice for lunches for work? I do red and green days, so preferably things that are free on either! I have made home made soup and brought it in to work for 2 weeks in a row now and am completely SICK of it! All that effort making the soup, had to buy loads of ingredients I didn't have (I live with a friend and we don't have a full cupboard of bits and pieces), and I only got 2 bowls out of it! Definitely not worth it as I don't even enjoy cooking!

What I am really after is quick and easy stuff like mugshots, cup a soup and tins of soup?? I am really lazy basically so please help!

When I make soup I go for the ingredients that bulk it out, like lentils or broth mix, that way you can make soup cheaply and make it go further and more than a few bowls. When im working I tend to have a mugshot with a small cheese sandwich and a yoghurt and fruit.
What about SW pasta quiche? Make up a pasta n sauce as usual, then add what ever ingredients you choose ham, onion, mushrooms, sweetcorn etc. When cooled slightly beat in an egg and even a couple of laughing cows, put in a baking tray to cool, then cut up into squares. this is really yummy cold and good for snacking or with salad.
What about batch cooking stews or quorn chillis and taking them in, in a thermos? Nice and warming on cold days like these.
Theres some good soup recipes in this months mag. I know you said quick and easy but putting aside a hour or so a week to batch cook will give you loads more variety and much cheaper too. Hope this helps.

  • Hi everyone. I'm after some advise please, I buy for the kiddies big bags of mega small treat size choc bars from Aldi and I've thrown the bag so can't work out the syn value.

They consist of Dreamy (ie a Milky Way) - which is about half the size of a normal milky way

Roar (ie a lion bar) - which is around a quarter of the size of a proper lion bar

Another one think it's called Romeo (ie bounty) - that's probably about a quarter of a bounty.

Each day I'd like to have one or two of these as my treats to use up my syns...?

Anyone have any ideas please - should I assume for example that the Romeo would be a quarter of the syns a full size bounty would be - or is this getting a bit risky...guessing?

    Thanksx
