    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Well, I'm quite pleased with myself. Considering I prepared the big family Christmas and homebaked everything (and obviously sampled everything I'd made, it would be rude not to!) and had an unexpected 2 days with family as we couldn't get home because of the snow, I've only put 2lb on in 2 weeks. I too have picked at the leftovers and tried to eat things up to get rid of it ready to start back on plan and I have drunk a lot more than I normally would and been generally naughty, but I haven't missed out on anything or felt left out and I have thoroughly enjoyed the break away from it!

Have lost 2 days of this week to being off-plan with the snow, but ready to knuckle down from tomorrow morning and get back to it! Looks like I may get extra exercise this week too if the snow sticks around and comes even more as forecast as the roads in the housing estates are lethal so we'll be leaving the car where it is and walking to where we need to be!

As for the changes to the SW plan, I doubt I'll be following them - my loss has been good so far so I'll just be staying as I am. It all fits well into family life and meals for all of us so I'm sure half a syn here for a yogurt and a couple of syns there for a pasta quiche or cous cous cake won't make much difference. I know the die-hards will say it's wrong but when it's once in a while, who cares really? Not me. If my losses slow down too much, I'll get more strict, but I'm pretty happy with my progress!

So, good luck to everyone starting out, keep your chins up if you've been on it a while - it works, we all know it does. Don't cheat yourselves or pretend something didn't go in your mouth when you know full well it did! Keep the faith and I hope everyone gets to the targets, whether final or interim!

I usually weigh in tonight but am thinking of changing my class (again) to Wed. Now my oh is home I can do an earlier time and on a Wed instead of 7 on a Mon. I know Ive put on a few pounds. But I got loads of nice clothes for xmas and vouchers to spend when I lose some weight. I also got the £1 jeans from the Grabbitt, so I have a size 14 to fit into. All good incentives.

tonight im having quorn chilli with rice, topped with fromage frais.

Wow that's brilliant. Think I will stock up on those.

Just cooked up a wok full of stir fried veg (but used water and soya sauce instead of oil) with some mushrooms that needed using up and then added one of the instant rice things, which I microwaved first. Think that is all free on a green day. Was delicious anyhow
what sort of rice was it? if it was that uncle bens express stuff i don't think it is free.

Hi everyone - and welcome to the new starters!:T:T

First weigh in tomorrow since rejoining the class - we shall see what the result is. Have been extra-easying the week away - but had a couple of days where we were seeing people and went over on my syns. Not badly - but I really wanted to stick to ten syns per day - and more often than not its been over 10. My weekly total is still under 15 per day - so we'll see what happens...;)

Hello All, I've been AWOL for a few months now and have managed to regain and add to what I've lost, but am determined to drop some more weight off my bum and keep it that way.

Anyway I just wanted to share this recipe which I'm tucking into now, not too many syns I don't think. It's adapted from a recipe in this Months Good Food mag...

    Sweetcorn and mashed potato chowder...

Knock up a pan of mashed potato (I used a splash of milk and seasoning), set aside and keep warm. Wizz up a 400g tin of sweetcorn in the blender, chop a bunch of spring onions and fry off in pan with frylight, stir in blended sweetcorn, add a tablespoon of tom puree, 600mls of veg stock and 1 teaspoon of paprika, leave it to bubble for a few minutes and then season to taste (I also added a teaspoon of canderel as it balanced the bitterness of the toms).

To serve stick in a bowl and spoon on a couple of dollops of mash.

In the recipe it added prawns and bacon but I'm veggie so I left this out, it also cuts down on syns, anyway it's delish and probably makes 4 decent size portions and is really, really filling. It's one of the nicest things I've eaten in a long while. Dead easy too, let me know how you get on.
