  • Hi, I'm going to join you this month. I'm guessing that I'm spending around £600 per month for our family of five (2 adults and 3 hungry boys!) I want to reduce this by £200 but baby steps so this month I'm aiming to spend

    £500
    November Grocery Challenge £500/£95
  • Well today was my first day of the grocery challange and already managed to spend £11 and I only went to the shop for some mushrooms!

On the plus side I've used up a load of veg and chicken which needed using up and made a pan of stew which I'll portion out and put in the freezer once its cooled down, so it wasn't a totaly bad day.

Small spend of £2.50ish on Monday, need to get some more fruit & carrots but am trying to hold off for as long as possible. Once I have found misplaced receipt will update total spends.

5 nsd out of 10, another 21 to go and only £50.:o

Welcome to everyone and good luck.

    Helloooo!

Away for nearly 2 weeks in November so budget will be slashed accordingly. Can you put me down for £115 please? This is for the two of us, all our groceries, cleaning stuff and booze, but not pet food.

Good luck everyone and have a great month!

Exciting stuff! My first new GC thread, and start of a new routine for me. :D

Thanks to Helen, Riosieben and Pink for getting us up and running again, hi to fellow newbies and good luck to all the 'oldies!' :P

I've decided that aswell as my GC budget, I will be trying to stick to 3 NSDs a week. Recently noticed a lot of my money is just getting frittered away..thats what comes of being at home all day, every day with baby! I go out for walks and find myself popping into shops to get a drink and snack every time :(

Have to say, my vice is Coke, so I'm aiming to cut that back dramatically - used the demotivator tool yesterday and boy-o-boy did it do the job!:eek::eek:

Please to report though, clocked up my first NSD of the week - hoping for the next two days to be ones too, that'll bring me up to the weekend shop. Fingers crossed! Hope I stay this excited all through! :rotfl:

Welcome to the newbies joining us :j and welcome back to returning oldies :j

wyrdsister - are you a pratchett fan too?

I'm off to my new flat for deliveries tomorrow, will resist the urge to nip into the shops as I pass - actually the local c00p is really rubbish so not much of a temptation there!

I've just been working on my meal plan, looks like lots of eggs and pasta in the near future

    Good luck all!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

  • Just tried a fab, cheap, halloween activity with the (older) kids. We put thick pancake mix into a squeezy bottle ( like you get the ketchup in in a cafe, but a washed out leftover one would be fine) then squirted Halloween shapes into the frying pan. Skulls, witches' hats, moons, broomsticks etcetc. The thickness of the mix took 2 attmepts ( adding more flour) but it worked brilliantly and was super simple. Not an activity for tinies but good for the slightly larger kids with a bit of supervision. They were yum, kept them warm in the oven then had them for dessert. Am seriouslly considering doing festive ones for xmas day breakfast. Might do most of them soon and freeze them, then let them make one each on the day.

Edit I live in Canada, we weren't having tea at 2.30 am :-)

    Hi Rosieben and Helen,

    Hello everybody.

Please can you put me down for $300.00 for November.

I'm not sure how I've done for October yet but will get back to you when it's all been totted up, I just know I've got to reduce my November budget so that I've got some money available to pay towards the credit card doh!
