This is the very thread for me- had the mother of all LBM earlier today and have now finally (after many deluded months where mini lbm's kind of happened but to no real effect!!) realised I have to cut back in all things but especially food/groceries- so can you put me down for
£230 spend for this month- 3 NSD so far and am doing the storecupboard challenge too, so we shall see. Off to tot up how much I spent at supermarkets last months- I imagine about £500 so we shall how I do this month- thankgod for the rubberyness of chickens!!
Good Luck all
Checked out last month's pre-LBM supermarket total (a month to me is 28th-28th as shop on cc for cashback and that's the statement date) and spent a not toooooo frightening £390.96 (in that I thought I spent way more so will not be cutting back as much as I thought??)- Good times!!. In the bad times corner (why do we have to have a bad times corner
) this month to me is 28th-28th and yep had 3 nsd for Nov but had already spent 80.04 on groceries before Nov started!! so have fourpence shy of £150 left to spend on groceries till 28th- I think a short sharp shock is what is needed anyway and will get me to eat up dubious cupboard/ freezer stuff- Good Times??
Bad Times again!! Realised I spent £60 in points as well (last month!!) so will need to cutback more!! But I can do this as long as get organised and stop being lazy!!0 -

Hi everyone
Please can I join you this month. I did the GC for a few months end of last yr and I do still try to keep on track with the spending. However our income has reduced recently and I need to get the spending down even further
Please can you put me down for £300 for the month. This is for me, DH and 3 DDs and is for all groceries and household/cleaning stuff. I tend to budget £300 p/m but used to come in at around £380ish
. I've gradually got it down to around £280-£300 but there is still room for improvement.
I've had a mr T delivery this week for £87.61 which is for 2wks of groceries.
I've only read the 1st page of the thread so I'll tootle off now to read the rest.....I need direction to perfection...0 -

I agree about Freeway it is very nearly almost as good - we swapped from coca-cola to freeway partly as its 1/4 the price, but also because I was cross with the cokezone promotion points scheme whereby you save lots of points and get sweet f.a. in returnMrsBartolozzi wrote: »Well, I did my first spend of the month yesterday. A total of £20.80 between Tesco and Lidl. It was mostly fruit and veg, but I also stocked up on tesco's diet cola with almond as I used to drink it years ago but it disappeared from the shelves only to reappear last week. It's really nice - a lot like Dr Pepper, and I am also trying to find a cheap diet pepsi/coke that tastes nice! Tried the Lidl Freeway 0% and it is an acceptable alternative, and it's only about 40p!
I'm taking the boys to the orthodontist after school and it's near Morrisons so I will have a look for bargains in there today. I really don't need much so I don't feel like I'll be tempted too much (famous last words...)
more relevantly - today was NSD (in fact better than that I got free supper at work conferencey thing)I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long

Pickled cabbage,slice thinly,layer with salt in glass/plastic bowl.Rinse thoroughly next day,pack firmly into biggish jars-cover with vinegar,put lid on.Keep for a few days,at least,before eating.
Will keep for a few months but then goes a bit soft ,loses its crunch, but still tastes OK.
Great with cold meat and mash, bubble and squeak,Lancashire hotpot, cauliflower cheese-whatever

Love making Twinks but seemed to take forever to shape etc.,anyway I bought a small sorbet/icecream scoop. What a break through-scoop and squash(with a fork) and seemed to take no time at all:rotfl:
Did use a melon baller at first but the stuff got stuck!

Haven't spent any money this week but will need to shop tomorrow - I'm about to run out of teabags  which has never been known before, I'm such a tea belly
and I need milk, bread and a few basics. I've done well running down my store cupboard though
Good luck all

Got my first Tesco order today - about £100 of mostly basic everyday stuff - so if I have 2 of these this month that leaves me about £250 or £8.30 a day - so that's my guide.
Still haven't done meal plan! Need to give myself a severe talking to!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0
