    Afternoon all.

Ladyhawk - best of luck with the job application, if you decide to go for it.

Frith - I can't add much to what's already been said - just keep your head up and remember that you and your boys deserve way better than Mr N's dubious affections. Hugs to all of you. (You and your boys that is, obviously! ;))

    Pleasures for today:

    1) A nice lie-in this morning - I'm still feeling quite weary after my recent illness, so it's nice to be able to sleep without interruptions from alarm clocks. ;)

    2) Planted out 4 more tomato plants in a spare grow bag - only 12 more plants to find homes for now.

    3) A glass of apple and ginger juice from a bottle I picked up at a food festival a few weeks ago. I'm not usually much of one for apple juice but this is delicious.

    4) Making tentative plans to visit my sister next weekend, or she might be coming to me. (I said the plans were tentative! ;))

    5) Nice sunshine for much of the day.

Hope you're all having a nice Saturday. :)
Back after a very long break!

    1. Breakfast cooked by DH.

    2. Had some money left in the budget when I'd done the shopping.

    3. The first bunch of sweet peas from the garden making the house smell lovely.

    4. A homemade 'ready' meal of cottage pie after shopping.

    5. Made some cards this afternoon.

    Hiya

    Mine for today:

    1. A lie in (small one but still appreciated) :D

    2. Walked to the beach with dd and ds2. By the time we had got there hubby had dropped ds1 at football and driven to meet us so we spent a good hour walking and playing on the beach.

    3. Got a few whoopsie party type food in asda so had that for tea. Kids thought it fun having a party/picnic in living room watching toy story (still doing it).

    4. Moving living room round today and got rid of electric fire and fire place. Blocked hole with cardboard box at the moment. Makes room look bigger and means i can get to shelves to sort through stuff next week. Kids were so well behaved in other room all afternoon while we were doing it, pleased we got the party food to treat them.

    5. Now that living room moved around I sit on other side of sofa (hubby sits on other side of histoo - no we dont sit together, not sure why) so on the 'not worn out' side and so much more comfortable!! I just sank into it earlier!!!! :D

Going to do a little college work and then have a glass of wine and 'sink' into sofa and watch a film I think. :D

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Frith, one of the things I found really, really helpful in my early days of single parenthood, at a time when single parents were being bashed in media left, right and centre, was that what parents needed to show their children was good (enough) parenting and what it meant to be a well-adjusted adult. It didn't matter if that was shown by a mum or a dad on their own, or by extended family and friends or by two parents in a relationship. What mattered was the quality of what the children experienced and witnessed. That means that it's important that the people around our children, especially us, demonstrate things like kindness, respect to others, honesty, generosity, love, thoughtfulness, self-respect... As adults on our own we can show them this stunningly well and we don't have to have a partner to show how to be a well-adjusted adult. Of course lots of diversity in good examples is great (grandparents, teachers, the lady in the shop...) but we don't need a less-than-satisfactory partner who undermines our own brilliant example.

End of 'thought for the day' :o:rotfl:

    My five for Saturday:

    1. A NSD and NPD.

    2. Tennis player we know getting through to the finals at Wimbledon.:T

    3. DS1 going outside and finishing dealing with tidying up the back lawn without asking, doing the washing up (his day) without asking, bringing in the washing without asking. Bliss.

    4. Experimenting with an invented puy lentils, aubergine and other veg stew in the slow cooker. I really need good slow cooker recipes and I think this one has produced a meal that can be eaten hot with mash as a sort of shepherd's pie or cold the next day with bread and salad.

    5. Finding an advert for a job that I think I could do, think I tick all the boxes for, think I'd enjoy and would fit with my continuing self-employed stuff and the DSs' complicated lives.

    Sleep well,

Frith, the soundest advice my DM ever gave me - never, ever write anything on paper that you one day may come to regret. Goes for texts, pm's, emails too these days.

    1. nsd
    2. the weather
    3. free health service
    4. family
    5. neighbours

    sleep well
