1. DD and I were in the winning procession in the village show
2. Feeling happy to be living in such a friendly, beautiful place
3. The excitement on DD's and the other girls' faces when they heard the man announce that our group were the winners! Cue 20-odd little girls doing victory dances in the middle of the arena, unforgettable
4. Enjoying the fun of the fair without spending too much money, DD won herself a little cuddly toy,
5. My lovely daddy who turned up with my mummy and LOADS of fruit, undented tins of beans/tomatoes (I know, pristine posh tins, wohoo!!) and then refused to take any money for them
6. I made a scrumptious and easy dinner of sausages and salad for us, my parents and OH
7. Feeling pretty sure that my parents can now understand why I love OH, as we spent a lovely evening together
8. The sunshine yesterday, just right0 -
What a brimful loving post, kittikins - beautiful:T
Broomstick - wonderful words for Ms R.
Frith, make six copies and put them around various spots at home[I suggest the door you leave by, your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen] plus one on car sun visor, one in your bag.
You will always have one immediately to hand, whenever sadness, loss, grief[it is this, for every partnership ending, not that I'm sure 'partnership' actually existed with Mr N]suddenly overwhelms or threatens.
I have a jokey badge from R over 20 years ago, behind visor: If you grab them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow. He is with me again, with his voice, every time I see it.
sparrer - sound advice from your DM, VERY true.

This, which I have long loved, was used by Mark Tully just now on R4's Something Understood, this week on The Garden. Please listen, it's an exceptional broadcast this week:

The Falla music takes me straight to the Alhambra. This music plays as along the formal fountains garden walk.
2. A katydid, perfectly camouflaged on Solomon's Seal leaves and butterflies visiting Black Knight and pink buddleias early morn. which surprises me.
3. Weather that heals in so many ways.
4. Listening to wimbo women's Final yesterday, interesting result. Looking forward, rather tenterhooky though, to this arvo.
5. Seeing that I missed an Ann Cleeves novel dramatised as yesterday's play on R4, I can listen to it now on i-player.

'Discovered' her recently, thanks to 'Who Else Writes Like...' recommended by S. at Library. I'm 5th in waiting list for The House in France; 2 copies are on order.
6. aka 5:-) Mob. sorted by P. It suddenly had date and calender from December 1980, which meant ages spent trying to set dates e.g. sparrer and self:)...now done. Might add another olive oil soap from France during 13-17 juillet flit, to celebrate/anticipate.
7. also a.k.a. 5 :-)) Spoke with M who will be back with her son In Addenbrookes tomorrow. We'll meet this week. I'm really looking forward to giving her the bag.
8. etc.etc :-))) Bob Geldof on radio last night and Alain de Botton trailered for return of the consistently excellent Point of View.

Just a quick note now as smaller son is waiting to get back on the laptop and play on Roblox...
Thanks for all the messages, will get back to you later. Just wanted to do 5 or so for yesterday.
5 for Saturday.
1) No MrN as he is at his son's wedding all weekend. So I didn't have to avoid looking out of the window/jump when I heard his gate open etc.
2) Lovely postcard from my friend about my change of name/change of relationship status. She had written it in very big letters so the postman was grinning as he handed it to me!
3) Did very little in the morning.
4) Bigger son was invited to a sleepover at his best friends. :-D
5) Smaller son, dad, brother and I went to a local hill climb (for cars, not people, although we did walk up the path to the top of the track). Saw lots of cars race up, plus motorbikes. Plus motorbikes and side cars which must be more than terrifying for the passenger!
6) Went swimming with smaller son and brother.
7) Smaller son and I had tea then decided to watch a DVD sitting in my bed. I should think we put the DVD on at about 7.30. That is the last thing I knew as I then woke up this morning at 8.30! All lights on, curtains open... This is someone who never goes to bed before midnight...
8) Oh yes, had another builder in to give me a quote.
and 9) Smaller son has suddenly got addicted to writing stories after I bought him a little £1 notebook on Wednesday. He doesn't need his pencil grips anymore so he wants to know if the other boys in his SEN group would like them. :-) He said "R has problems with his stray pencil" ! :-D
More later.0 -

Hi everyone :hello: It's been so long since I've been on here and there is far too much to catch up on. I can see that frith you are having problems at the moment so huge hugs to you.
My five are going to be a catch-up five:
1) DH finally started his job a few weeks ago after waiting for his CRB check for 13 weeks! But all is good now. Although his job is considered quite low status and is quite low-paid (looking after dementia sufferers) it certainly shouldn't be! He does a brilliant thing and makes a huge difference in these people's lives (and their families). I am very proud of him.
2) Living by the sea in this weather! We spend every spare moment at the beach. Invested in a proper body board for DS1 (still saving for DS2's) and the boys surf while we laze on the beach reading and crocheting.
3) My amigurumi business on Etsy has suddenley taken off! I had a large order from America last week and not only is it very nice to be paid for my hobby, but it means that people actually like what I do!:D
4) Have started a diet again after putting on half a stone after christmas. Well, it's more of a lifestyle change than an old-school diet but it does mean that my weight doesn't fluctuate but just steadily decreases.
5) A very small rural local primary school was facing closure because it only has 10 pupils so the head teacher looked into taking on flexi-schoolers and home-educated children and he's turned this amazing school into a fabulous learning centre with a forest school and a fab educational ethos and now my DS2 goes for 1 day a week and then I do lessons at home for the rest of the week. So far so good :T
I shall keep trying to pop in and catch up. Hope you are all well and happy:) And have a great Sunday xDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hello Blimus and welcome Dee.
Has been a dull & chilly day.....as opposed to the sunny & chilly days!
1.Was most industrious this morning & used my new cast iron (oh so heavy ) pans! Made soup & cooked off steak then put it in slow cooker for dinner tonight. Made a lemon drizzle cake, an apple sponge & most yummy chocolate brownie muffins.
2.Washed on a wool wash, my very pale duck egg blue sofa covers, from one sofa. They were filthy! Who's bright idea was it to get that colour of sofa.....oh,yes me! DD2 spilled milk on them back in Feb & I had scrubbed at stain but it left a water mark & then various marks I had tried to clean had left water marks, so it was with brave heart I popped them in the machine on a wool wash with baited brearth & fingers crossed! Still to dry so not sure if all marks are off . If it works will wash the other sofa covers tomorrow. If it doesn't ....well whoops!
3.Got all washing /ironing up to date.....hurrah for no more uniforms to wash/iron for 2 weeks!
4.Popped into next town with OH for a mooch around the shops. Got a few items...all reduced but MUST stop spending all my wages in first week! DS built up my drawer unit so need to fill that & will see if we can get another one next weekend if Aldi have any left as there is space for one more set!
Last Saturday whilst shopping with kids, I left a bag of stuff I had bought, somewhere but didn't know where. The mall was closing & no-one about to ask if it had been handed in. I just thought someone would have helped themselves .......but worth a long shot, I asked today at information desk & it has been handed in but the centre management not open at weekends, so will pop in this week & pick it up! Hurrah for honest folk!
5.Lovely dinner of soup & crusty bread (left enough for OH's lunch tomorrow) then steak pie, mashed potatoes, mashed carrot & turnip (RTC) & yummy sprouts (RTC). There is apple sponge to follow when we have room!
6.Have just watched Casualty on iplayer & just going to wash floors then settle down to watch Downton Abbey then bed!
Have a great Sunday whatever you are up to!0 -
Afternoon everyone - what a gorgeous sunny weekend it's been :j
When I used to be working, it was such a treat to have a sunny Saturday and Sunday - even better if it rained on Monday morning!
Weekend pleasures:-
- Lots of sitting in my garden in the sunshine
- Watching some tennis and Create and Craft programmes in sunbathing breaks
- Nice week ahead, seeing various friends and going to a couple of networking meetings to help promote my business
- Feel I'm making progress at last growing my hair. Have had short layered hair for years, and been desperate for a change. It's still hard going, resisting having it cut again (you know the horrible messy stage it goes through!) but I'm persevering
- just had a lovely dish of ice cream
Hope you're all having a lovely weekend,
Pam x0 -
Hello all after another few days of absence.
(((((FRITH)))))
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - DH made me a good nutritious breakfast this morning as I was preparing to walk/jog the Race for Life. Mushrooom omelette and fresh strawberries with yogurt, yummy!
2 - Wonderful sunny day, I was really worried about getting rained on for 5 Km, but the weather has been fantastic!
3 - Fast walked the first 4 Km then jogged the last Km (with short walking breaks) and really sprinted the last stretch, nearly died but managed to pass the finishing line at just under 44 minutes, shaving a good 20 minutes from last year's time, when I just plodded all the way.
4 - DH brought his camera, but the battery was flat, so he rushed home, charged the battery for 10 minutes and rushed back in time to take photos of me just after the race.
5 - Back home I prepared a really nice lunch (was famished!) of vege burgers with tomato, avocado and onion salsa, with green salad and grilled peppers.
Have a good rest of the weekend, everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all,
Gosh I am feeling a tad weary after a very active day (which makes up for my day of sloth yesterday).
1) Badminton went on for an extra 45 minutes today as it was an open day at the leisure centre. I played badly but it was fun.
2) Watched the tennis - I was fairly neutral but was pleased that Djokovic won in the end. They both seem like genuinely nice men.
3) A good few hours of gardening this afternoon. In fact I have only just come in! I did loads of weeding and tidying so it looks a little more presentable. All my veggies are coming along nicely and it looks as if I am in for a bumper crop of courgettes.
4) Lovely sunshine which dried my washing.
5) Picked my first sweet peas. They are possibly my favourite flowers.
Cheeky 6th - received an email from Director in Australia re the job out there. She is interested in seeing my CV so fingers crossed!
Nighty night Ladies - hope that you all have a happy and healthy week.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Good Evening Everyone
Mine for today
1. Another lie in!!!
2. Ds2 has gone 7 days in a row without wetting the bed :T
3. A lovely sunny day so spend the day in the garden mowing lawn and kids played out all day.
4. Hubby cleaned my car, polished it and hoovered it.
5. The girl I volunteer with at toddler group wrote 2 amazing witness statements about me as evidence for my level 2 childcare course.0
