Lots of lovely cooking mentioned today. It's made me quite hungry - just a shame that I'm in bed already!
Kittikins - sorry to hear about OH being a bit silly, hope he is back to normal after a good sleep. :-(
5 or thereabouts for today (Monday).
1) MrN brought me a cup of tea round to wake me up. :-)
2) Got the boys to school on time.
3) Went to see my solicitor, not really a pleasure but she is fantastic at her job and had everything in order for me to sign. (Next in court early July). Ex still being VERY weird, still have no address for him (7 weeks now!)
4) Raced around the 2nd hand shops before I went to the solicitors. (Dundeedoll - THAT street of second hand shops!) TopMan T shirt for bigger son and I got 3 tops for myself and I am useless at making my mind up and actually making a purchase! 2 useful looking tops and a tunic top originally from PeopleTree that I really like.
5) Builder came round (finally found one that can be bothered!) and was very efficient and not smarmy or patronising. He is going to give me a quote in writing by Friday so that is great.
6) Very tasty tea of mashed potato and sweet potato mixed together and some meatballs in tomato sauce.
7) Boys went to play with their friend so it was all quiet here til 7pm. They went into the forest on their bikes and met up with some other friends and it sounds like they had a fantastic time.
8) Bigger son lost his 2nd tooth in 2 days!
9) MrN popped round last thing. He is having the devil of a job with his sons at the moment. :-( They are so aggressive towards him it is awful. :-( I don't think I said much that helped but I had saved him some dinner and he had a cup of tea.
10) In bed now, early by my standards. Got a hot water bottle and think I will listen to the Archers.
Oh yes! More good news although not stricly speaking for today. I have been waiting nearly 8 years for smaller son to sleep through the night and stay in his own bed. It was thought this was another of his autistic traits and melatonin had nearly been prescribed for him... Anyway, 4 days ago, he suddenly piped up that he didn't like looking at the stairs when he woke up in the night (very steep, very dark wood and perhaps a bit creepy). So he asked if I could put his pillow at the foot end of his bunk and I did, and turned his quilt round. He has slept through THREE NIGHTS IN A ROW! Hoping for a 4th night tonight. :-D0 -
Bella - I love that phrase: 'Praise in the common things of life'.
My five for Monday:
1. Getting the bus into town to pick up my dad's car. I sat near two older ladies who seemed to be best friends. They were off on an expedition to have tea out and it was such a joy to overhear their animated discussion about what sort of sandwiches they'd have and what sort of cake.
2. The autobiography I'm reading keeps making me smile.
3. Spending time browsing over newsagents shelves and realising that there is an area of writing that I hadn't considered before where I might be able to generate some more freelancing. Didn't buy any mags though.
4. Some really, really good conversations with DS1.
5. A few phone calls that I thought were going to be difficult today ended up being really easy and pleasant which was a nice surprise.
Off to bed way too late again.
Sweet dreams

Broomstick 'Praise in the common things of life' is a line from a hymn which goes:-
Praise in the common things of life,
In goings out and in,
Praise in each duty and each deed,
Small though they be and mean.
Used to sing this hymn at school
years ago but can't remember how it starts.

1.After a wild & windy night it was a much calmer morning.....midwinter for us ! Our shortest day.....surely spring is just round the corner!
2.good day at work........we had some food samples handed in to try.....had some very yummy scrummy food! I have decided to buy a parking permit! I have spent $125 in daily parking tickets in last 6 weeks.....$225 for a permit, so will work out more financially sensible to get the permit in the long run. I'm going to stay! First couple of weeks could have run away but I'm enjoying it now!
3.Home.....after I had to wait for a load of ducks to cross the road.....much as I like to say hello, I needed to get home too!
4.Went to supermarket & got some reduced items. Croissants to be sliced & frozen for lunches and lovely flowers & the most delicious cookies!
5. Out at school council meeting this evening, which I enjoyed!

Afternoon all.
I'm sorry I've been awol for a while, but my pootah's caught the electronic equivalent of flu so I'm limited to reading the forum from work at the moment.I've found a nice local company who can apply electronic antibiotics but they can't do it until the end of the week so, until then, I'll be reading when I can but not posting much.
sparrer - I'm glad you're back safe and had a nice time.
Right, I must go and use my work computer for its intended purpose and do some work!Back after a very long break!0 -
Haven't been on here for a while - Hello everyone!
1. our wedding anniversary today! We have had a bit of a bad patch this year and so grateful we are coming through it. DH sent me (a totally unexpected and out of character and certainly not our usual OS) .... fancy bouquet of flowers in a nice vase with a heart balloon and chocs all attached. I feel all warm and lovey dovey today,!going around smiling sheepishly! :heartsmil
2. started a Practical Parenter Helper course today (I volunteer in my kids' school) Got me fired up thinking about options when DS2 starts school fulltime soon.
3. have done no housework or washing today and for once don't care!
4. had lovely cuppa and chat with my fab friend who collected DS2 from nursery and looked after him until course ended.
5. just eaten 2 yummy juicy pears.
6. gave away some bags of clothes to 2 different friends today. Glad to free up the space and will be put to new good homes
7. looking forward to seeing my DS1....in about 15 mins. better dash!0 -
Happy Midsummer Night to all!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Even if I am a bit hungover (3 glasses of wine - to a teetotaler like me that is a LOT!) I am glad that I went last night to the party, it was very pleasant to catch up with all the ladies from my aerobics class.
2 - The sun is shining, how lovely after all that rain!
3 - I finished my dress in the craft class and also bought fabric to start another one.
4 - Made progress in pinning and cutting the fabric ready to sew at next week class.
5 - Decided no Zumba tonight due to hangover but will spend time with DH doing home and garden things.
6 - Lots of radishes in my garden, so dinner will include radishes in salad and radish greens in stew or soup.
Good night! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all,
1) Still feel rough... but not as rough as yesterday... realised it was useless Logistics Manager who gave me the cold.... GRRRR! If he is going to make me sick then the least he can do is call me!
2) Left work a little early (20 mins) - got home and had an hours sleep. Exactly what I needed
3) An item that I ordered on line was delivered today... yippee!!
4) A yummy supper... creamy, cheesy, tomatoey pasta... yum
5) making a dent in the mess that is my flat... my mum is coming to visit at the weekend so I really need to get it ship shape.
Night all...
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all
1) NSD
2) Free pie at work for someone's birthday
3) Managing to arrange for a company to pick up my new dresser tomorrow for a reasonable rate
4) Using up the last spud in the cupboard - with mushy peas, sausages and some gravy it made me feel a lot better on this damp cold day
5) Glass of wine
6) Going through my photo's yesterday and finding some of my dad that I thought I'd lost
Hopefully you all had a good day
