Just a peaceful, plodding sort of a day here, time to give 'Praise in the common things of life'
1. A loaf of bread made in the breadmaker.
2. A batch of oaty biscuits baked.
3. The washing dry in lovely sun.
4. DH keeping the garden tidy and watered.
5. The first flower on a courgette.
Bella.A man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possesseth. Luke 12 v 150 -
Oh Sparrer, I know Civitavecchia (the harbour) very well as that's where I take the ship to Sardinia. Glad you enjoyed your trip and are back home safe!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - After getting breakfast and pack lunch for DH ready, I managed to have breakfast with him before he went to work.
2 - Good keep fit workout
3 - Lunch with friend
4 - Work for above friend - delighted I managed to persuade the tax woman to send a short tax return for her to fill rather than the awfully long and complicated one. She agreed it would be best in her situation. Less trouble for her and less aggro for me who got to compile it!
5 - Going to the aerobic group ladies' party, one of us is kindly hosting it and we all bring something to eat and share.
Have a good evening xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Monday so far
1. LO pizza and garlic bread for breakfast
2, Gooseberries $1 for a 400g bag from a neighbour. so good I bought 2.
3. Mr Murder hardback from charity shop for flatmates birthday
4. bacon butty for lunch
5. The Sopranos on dvd from Lovefilm
6. Settling down with a mug of tea and Nella Last in the 50s..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Hi Everyone,
Aaaachooo! Snuffle... I'm feeling very rough. I think its a combination of cold and hayfever.
1) Lovely HM banana and walnut cake at work
2) Good chat with the boss about my stroppy strop on Friday. He was very ood about it but kind of warned me about a repeat performance, which was fair enough.
3) Left the office on time and had an hours sleep and feel marginally better as a result
4) Trashy TV - Snog, Marry or Avoid
5) My new passport arrived today... yippee!
Nighty night.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. 3 mile power walk at lunch time with a friend, think we chatted and laughed too much rather than concentrate on the walking but nice to get some fresh air
2. OH bought a bottle of wine on way home, so just enjoyed a glass
3. Walked home from work even though it was raining
4. Sausages and pasta for dinner, normally do this in a tomato sauce but changed it tonight and went down well
5. Very cheap decent mascara in the post so put away in the present cupboard.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
5 for today
1. lovely warm sunshine
2. no work, no marking, not really much washing. House is a tip but i don't care much today.
3.visited potential new school for son - liked it, just got to convince him now.
4. lovely cup of tea in cathedral tea room with OH afterwards
5. OH did the ironing!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

3. Two loads of washing on the line all dry
4. Swapped steak for liver and managed to successfully recreate DH's nan's liver bacon and mash - it was yum (quite shocked i hated it as a kid!)

Caterina my apologies for misspelling Civitavecchia, pleased you understood what I meant
1. Mowed lawn
2. Collected dog
3. Bought 2 YS wm loaves @ 15p each
4. Visited DD
5. Nice chat with DS's OH about her current uni placement, which brought back many good memories of my years running residential homes/sheltered housing
Sleep well

Today's pleasures:
1 - DH home today.
2 - Last bag of de littered things to the charity shop.
3 - Lots of bits and prices done round the house.
4 - 30 minutes sitting in the quiet and enjoying reading Your Home magazine.
5 - Night out with hubby seeing Dylan Moran. Very enjoyable and no extra spend as live walking distance and refuse to pay venue bar prices!0 -
Feeling grotty tonight, it appears I've upset OH with a text message that I can't see how it would be offensive (given that it contained both a wink and a kiss so was obviously (in my mind) me being silly.......!!) and now he's ignoring me
I've apologised by voicemail and text and am thinking of just turning my s*dding phone off so I don't keep looking at it hoping that he'll get in touch
I'm not very good with conflict, brings up lots of bad memories.
So....time to try and regain my joy which until the misunderstanding was abundant!
1. Library fines today for a book I misplaced and only just found as I was getting ready for work (easy to do in my house, lol) were less than I anticipated, so not very MSE but woohoo for the 'saving'
2. Another busy, hard day at work but I feel like I achieved a lot and heard great news from a colleague who has finally got a very well-deserved promotion to a new role (sadly in a different location but very pleased for her)
3. Cleaned the bathroom and sorted out the cupboards - I do not need any toiletries for a very long time, phew!
4. Impromptu playdate for DD and one of her little friends, he stayed for tea, I made a scrummy dinner with enough for DD or I to have leftovers tomorrow!
5. Made a nice salad for lunch at work, and avoided the temptation of the choccy machine (polishing my halo now!)
6. DD and I popped over to a friend's for wine, a natter and the children played nicely after dinner
7. Up to date again with the washing, it doesn't take long to pile up even though there are only 2 of us in the house!
8. DD gave me gorgeous cuddles and played at being a baby this evening lying in my arms on the sofa before bedtime; given that she's at least 1m20cm, she's a lot bigger and heavier but even more beautiful day by day than she was at birth
9. My parents have booked a fantastic holiday for them and DD over the summer holidays - dreading her being away from me for so long, but know that she'll be in safe hands, and thinking back to my childhood, I started going away with my grandparents around this time of my life, but not on such an amazing trip.
10. I've worked out that I'm scarily skint for the rest of the month but apart from possibly going and stocking up on Bran$ton baked beans in Te$co, I shouldn't really need to do any food shopping until after payday.
Right, I managed to make it to 10, time to tottle off to bed I guess. Night all
