Kittikins - as I ate, looking outside at birdies doing their munch thing amid my strawbs and rasps, the sun had come out, blazing. A few moments ago, as I cleaned teeth, wondered what had happened as bathroom was suddenly[again]plunged in dark. Out I go to look - black and raining again.
Enjoy a lovely Father's Day w/e....why that should remind me I first married on this date in 1969, I don't know. First of plural.......always for sake of a.n.other.

hello!
1.woke up at 5.15am & whilst it was earlier than I would have liked I got up & phoned 2 lovely friends, for an hour each. It is so lovely just to chat & catch up on their news and share mine. I have spoken to all my good friends & my mum this week so all up to date!
2. Saturday scone was most pleasant.....accompanied with a lovely hot chocolate!
3.Shopping was well under budget this week! Quite chuffed with that.
4.Got tidied up ....again!
5. Had a wee mooch around Salvos & got a couple of tops that will do for work. 3 glossy magazines for 50cents each( 30p)
6. Went to get DD1 a desk for her room and managed to get one that was end of range for 1/2 of what we were intending to pay! So pleased with that too.
enjoy your weekend whatever you are up to!0 -
Morning Ladies,
Caterina - that was a little spooky... I was just wondering how you are getting on and lo and behold you have posted
1) I had a bit of a rubbish day yesterday. My boss announced in our team meeting in the morning that my collegue will be taking over the big project that I have been working on. I was absolutely furious, especially as he did not have the decency to tell me before hand! It is a year long project and was the reason that I was staying in my job. Anyway... after the meeting he asked why I looked so grumpy.... well... I couldn't hold back and had a huge rant at him. He backtracked and claimed that I had misunderstood... I completely understand what an oldboys club my department is. Anyway on Monday when I am slightly calmer I will talk to him about it properly.
2) The team then went to the Taste of London as a team building excersise/ jolly. I have been a few times and don't enjoy it - it is SO expensive. It was also cold and wet... but we had a couple of glasses of LP rose... always a pleasure!
3) Gave one of my formal satin dresses to one of our assistants who often gets invited to dinners at work... but always looks a scruff. I had only worn it once and it was too short for me but fitted her well. The pleasure is that it is no longer in my cupboard.
4) Went to a black tie dinner last night... I didn't want to go but it was quite good fun.
5) Got goody bags from said dinner and I managed to snaffle a second one! It was filled with muffins and biscuits.
I sent Logistics manager a text to say that I hoped he has a good weekend... not a peep back. Well, its his loss.
Have a great day
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

There you go, Ladyhawk, it is me, Caterina the witch HEHEHEHE (cackle) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Am fine thank you, sorry to read about your bad time at work though!
Still not sure about what to do with myself, apart from getting odd bits of work (mystery shop, a bit of admin for a friend for a nominal pay).
Loving the housewife lifestyle but a bit of stimulation would not hurt me and keeping my skills updated would not be a bad idea. Tried volunteering but there was someone in the office who was very shouty and moody (not only with me but in general) and I thought I am not even getting paid for this so I scarpered it after a couple of unpleasant occasions and not tried to find anything else since.
Suppose I shall sit the summer out and then I might look for a job, because I am feeling I am not using my brain in any way.
Pleasures for the day:
1 - Kippers for breakfast in bed courtesy of DH - (sort of double edged pleasure) they were good for health, very tasty, but hated all the fine spines and in the end I left some of it. The pleasure was mainly in the kindness of DH to make me breakfast and bring it to me in bed!
2 - Outing with friend for cup of tea and catch up. Tea for me and coffee for her were free thanks to a voucher I had.
3 - The library ordered the latest Michael Connelly book for me and I picked it up today. Looking forward to a good read!
4 - M&S offer 2 eat for £10 but in our family 5 people stretch it at different times: DH and I had the salmon, then I separated the carroty and sweetcorny bits from the leaves and we had the leaves (cannot have the carroty stuff as high-carb, it will go in an all-family soup or stir fry so the carbiness will be diluted!). Then trifle will be for DS, DD and her BF and the bottle of wine for all of us to share when we have an opportunity to eat together.
5 - Fresh roses for the house, large bunch made two vases so one for living room and one for my bedroom.
6 - Sunshine again after a rainy morning
7 - Radishes in the garden are growing really well! Had some in the salad and will use up the green tops for dinner tonight.
Have a good evening all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Friday
1 Free can of Spam wirh cheese on with voucher, also Mr S had cadburys nibbles on special for 1 quid so had those - kinda makes up for the Cadbury Bunny parcel she sent me for Easter that never arrived.
2. His Girl Friday on tv
3. A phone call offering me a mystery shop at Disney
4. Cadbury Brunch bar for a treat with tea and a book - one of a box from Poundland
5. BOGOF pillar candles at Sainsburys
6 The Kennedys mini seriesWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Evening all, and particularly to Caterina - it's very nice to see you again!
1) It didn't rain nearly as heavily today as the forecast suggested, and good thing too as I spent the day under a flimsy plastic awning. (I was volunteering at the local food festival, in case you're wondering!)
2) The three people we were sharing a stall with at the festival were lovely.(It might have been a bit awkward in such a small space if we hadn't got on, tbh!
)
3) I came home with four tomato plants which are far too past-their-best to sell but which are at least bigger than my tiny HG tomato plants. (Which will of course have a growth spurt and start getting flowers on now I've got replacements. :rotfl:)
4) Last night's joint of beef proved to be bigger than it looked, so there's plenty left for tonight's dinner.(And tomorrow's, and probably for several rounds of sandwiches for next week's lunches, too. :money:)
5) A day of fielding flying plants has worn me out (it's incredibly windy on the south coast ) so I'm looking forward to an evening curled up with a glass or two of wine listening to the wind howling outside.
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Home grown peas, fresh from the pod for my dinner.
2. Home grown sweet pea which smell wonderful.
3. Molly dog snuggled up on my bed.
4. Baby tomatoes just forming.
5. My husband xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Evening all
Frugalpam & Caterina - Good to see you both again
Frith - Hope your son is feeling better
Molly41 - Hello there
1) Got some bargains in town
2) Lovely chat with my friend and her little girl on Skype

4) After much procrastination I cleaned the bathroom...only took 5 mins
5) Left over spag bol for dinner

Hopefully you all had a good day
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
I too was wondering how you were and hoping you were having a great time yesterday........and then you posted. Great minds think alike Ladyhawk
1. Went to C0$tco on the way to my parents and was very sensible and only bought things we needed......still spent nearly £30 though! but we have enough apples, spuds, bananas, bread, lentils to keep us going for a while
2. Great drive up with DD listening to a new to us Roald Dahl story cd
3. Scrumptious good morning text from OH this morning *swoon*
4. Feeling happy that my nails have now grown long enough to make my hands look rather pretty - I'm a naughty nail picker offer, but due to my new calcium tablets, they're growing like billy-o. I shall have to dig out my one bottle of nail varnish I use on my toes and attempt to paint my fingernails tomorrow!
5. Finally got round to some studying for my exam this afternoon....
6. Had a great chat with my mum whilst DD and my dad were out and about.
7. Have finally got out of my mum that she likes my OH (but is disturbed, not sure in what way or why, about his level of disability as he is far less able than she had anticipated - not that it matters as I love him to bits as he is and as he will be. I've got over the feeling sad about how we'll never get to go to certain places or do certain things, and just enjoy all the great experiences we have). Anyway, it's a relief to know that she doesn't loathe him, lol.

Today's pleasures:-
1. Had DGK's while their parents went to the Good Food and Gardener's World shows.
2. Packed a picnic and put Bolognaise in the slow cooker.
3. Took children to see the Rock Houses at Kinver Edge. Very interesting and different as the children don't usually like anything with a National Trust label. Never been to Kinver Edge before, it's a beautiful area
4. Back to a tea all cooked. I love slow cookers. Just had to do the spaghetti and a bit of veg. and I had a homemade plum and apple pie to pop into the oven. Went down a treat.
5. A free Gardener's World magazine and Baileys Fudge DD brought me from the show.
