Hiya. Special day here today for us - DH's birthday. He had no idea what he wanted for a pressie so-

    1. We went to a National Trust property and I bought him dinner.

    2. I bought a second hand book -Katherine by Anya Seton. I read that book when I was 14, ummmmm 53 years ago and I know I will enjoy it again.

    3. I bought another second hand book - Goode for One by Shirley Goode. I had that book in my cupboard until two weeks ago but gave it to my batchelor DS and then wondered why. Lovely to get it again for 60p as it completes my set of Shirley Goode books.

    4. Three packets of free seeds being given away by the National Trust.

    5. Went to a Mr.S I don't usually use and saw different things. Bought Wensleydale cheese with crystalised ginger and mango. We had it for tea with oatcakes yum.

    Bella.

    Evening

Thank you all for the good wishes re my parents. They seemed a lot calmer today when I spoke to them on phone.
Kittikins - Glad you are feeling happier today
    Happy birthday to Mr Bellaquidsin

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Managing to stay calm at work when someone was being very insensitive and a major pain. I just went and made a cup of tea
    2. Drinks at the pub at lunch time to wish a lovely friend at work farewell. There was about 30 of is in a tiny local pub, very cosy.
    3. Made a pepperoni tart this morning using bits at the bottom of the fridge and some pastry that needed using. Taken to work and went down very well.
    4. Naughty but nice Indian takeaway for dinner washed down with a beer
    5. £6 in luncheon vouchers in the post today. Still have a stash saved so may treat OH and DD to lunch at nandos on Sunday

Hugs to all who need them

    3. It's Friday- and payday soon:)
    4. Made some flapjack, using up leftover fruit.
    5. Had a quick nap after tea.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

Hello! Long time no see :o Can see lots of new faces here, and I haven't read through properly but will try to catch up.
Since I was last around, I've been working on developing my small business - exhibited at a Business Fair, did an interview on BBC Radio Lancashire, and have got 3 customers I'm working with at the moment.
Recently been doing battle with my insurance company over a water leak and resulting damage in the house, and feeling a tad frayed round the edges!!
So, a few good things in summary:-
    - business plans underway
    - customers, and some income :j
    - after many phone calls/complaints/battles with Royal Sun Alliance, winning the battle to get the cover I'm entitled to (which they had denied existed)
    - Younger niece expecting a baby in October :T
    - happy puddy tat
    - Garden tidy thanks to a local gardening company (social enterprise/non profit)

    Hope all are well,
    Pam x

A brief visit to say hi to all of you. I am not on computer as much as I used to be but doing all sorts of things! Here are a few pleasures in my life:

1 - Managed to get a bit of mystery shopping work, paid very little but much better job than sitting in an office.

2 - Glad I left my last job. Been in touch with lovely ex-colleague and she told me it is getting worse and worse for everybody. My instinct that it was not going to work was right, then!

3 - Making my first dress at the craft class

4 - Still on the low carb diet, sometimes eating more than I should but not strayed from the list of "allowed" foods!

5 - Working out at least 3 times per week and feeling very happy with my growing levels of fitness.

6 - DD and DS turned 22 years old a few days ago - feeling so lucky to have them and very proud of them!

7 - Had a holiday in Italy and saw lots of family, mum, aunts and cousins.

8 - Allotment looking great, DH has put a lot of hard work (I helped but nothing as much as he did!).

9 - Life is great, I have a lovely family and good friends and I thank God for all my blessings.

Great to be back even if only sporadically! Love to all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Hiya, my five for Friday:

    1. The nice lady from the car rescue firm who said sorry for the treatment I'd had in the previous phone call to them but the man I'd spoken to had got it wrong and, yes, they would send someone out to me and my car even though my rescue renewal was horribly overdue.

    2. The nice man in charge of our garage who couldn't help out practically this evening but diagnosed my car's problem over the phone, and agreed to me leaving the car on the forecourt ready to be looked at early next week.

    3. The nice man who came and rescued me and the vehicle, showed me how to test for a clutch that had gone and restored my confidence in being towed (after 12 years of feeling terrified about it).

    4. The fact that I had cooked double new potatoes last night for supper so could make a quick fry up of them, eggs and baked beans for supper when I eventually got in late after 4 hours of dealing with the car in the back of beyond.

    5. A load of appreciative messages on another thread that made me smile and feel very, very grateful and think that today wasn't too bad after all!

    Sweet dreams

Well, a day of ups and downs! Here we go:

    1) Boys off to school happily.

    2) Did paperwork, phonecalls, changed bunk beds and did 2 loads of washing. All up to date for the weekend.

    3) Went for a "serious" swim with my brother.

    4) Popped into mum and dad's when I dropped my brother off and had a sandwich.

    5) Took sons swimming after school (yoga yesterday and well over an hour of swimming today so my stomach muscles are screaming!)

    6) Sons did bracken sledging at mum and dad's (much as it sounds, down a steep hill).

Not so nice bit was the ex husband suddenly deciding he wanted to see sons. (After 6 weeks of silence when we didn't even know where he was living). Apparently, he has a new flat but can't see them because he has no furniture and no electricity... anyway, they are going on Sunday for 2 hours because he can manage that.

I knew MrN had had the day from hell...

... then at 8.30pm bigger son decided he was in quite a lot of pain and it looked as though he might have developed his 3rd hernia. So I had to text MrN to look after smaller son and took bigger son to hospital.

It doesn't look like a hernia but he has to go for a scan to be sure. Got back and MrN had brought round DVD's and popcorn and he, smaller son and his son 4 had all been lying on my bed having a cinema night!

So quite tired now. Will write something more meaningful tomorrow!

'It never rains but it pours' is becoming a theme on this Thread and meteo.

Frith - V. glad Son The Elder's hernia scare was no more than that, although that pain is great. I'm sure you're suitably wary of exOH's latest manifestation - I feel this, too, on your behalf and I won't be alone.
Looks like a wet weekend everywhere. Sodden, grey, chill outdoors here.

Make the most of things, everyone - back later. Petit dej. first - hungry suddenly.

(((Frith's son))) will keep my fingers crossed the scan shows nothing untoward....

Woke up nice and early and am sitting in my messy sitting room wondering where or whether to start tidying up and looking at my finances for the rest of the month. Looks like I'm nearly at the end of my salary AGAIN and yet again it's the middle of the month *sigh* :( Never mind, I have a car full of petrol, DD is packed up and I'll throw some bits in a bag, the presents are bought and paid for, so we can go up to my parents to celebrate Father's Day with my daddy dearest tomorrow. OH has his lovely son over so he's a happy daddy and yippee, it's not raining here (not holding my breath that it'll stay like this for long!)
