    Evening all.

villagelife - happy birthday for yesterday! smiley-greet006.gif

mhagster - I'm glad your new job's going well, if exhaustingly!

Frith - hope you've had a better day today.

Here's my pleasures for yesterday and today:

    Yesterday:

    1) A sunny, warm day after the gloomy weather we've had for the rest of the week.

    2) NSD.

    3) Salmon and cucumber sarnie for lunch.

    4) My DM and DF came over to visit and bought me the potato 'trees' my DF has been growing for me - the potato plants are only a couple of months old and are already as high as my waist.

    5) A very pleasant evening out which my DF insisted on paying for. :A

    Today:

A little short on pleasures as the sauce on my dinner last night was a bit heavy on the cream: I don't get on well with dairy products and have felt rather off-colour all day. :(

    1) A very quiet day at work - just what I needed when feeling fragile.

    2) Did a draft version of the 'recipes for herbs' sheet requested by the lady who runs the plant stall I'm volunteering at tomorrow. (Yes, done in the office - naughty me! :o)

    3) Got home just as the cat was about to be sick and managed to direct him to throw up on the kitchen floor, which is easy to clean, rather than on the carpet. ;)

    4) I'm feeling very tired and lazy tonight, so have worked out a way of making lasagne that requires hardly any actual cooking: the OS pleasure is in having the option to do so, rather than in using ready-prepared cheese sauce. :o:o:o

    5) It's Friday! :j

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

    Belated happy birthday villagelife

frith/VJsmum - I love the meditation part of yoga, but only if the room is nice and snuggly warm and i like the people i'm with. I like the lying down with a beanbag over your eyes rather than the staring into the candle flame when others are around, feel self-conscious then!

    1. Trying to be positive about the fact that OH is ill and can't come over tonight, I'm failing a bit at the moment, but errm, maybe the pleasure will be hopefully getting a nice text or call from him later and not having to cook his bacon for breakfast in the morning :( He's ill more than he's well........*sigh* poor darling, but it's not nice for either of us at times...
    2. Good chats with my mummy, now she's retired, she's always on the phone!
    3. Work was quiet, I love Fridays :)
    4. Popped to a friend's for a cup of tea and got to cuddle a little cutiepie :)
    5. Naughtily spent a fortune in Tesco's but got a couple of YS boxes of wine, equivalent to 8 bottles for £20, had to be done.... ;)
    6. Lovely hospital doctor sent me through a letter to pass on to physio and put a nice note with it. Such a shame he's married....oh and I'm in love with OH tee hee!!
    7. DD is currently dancing in her first ever show performance, going to pick her up in a little while, so proud of my baby :)
    8. Lovely friend of a friend came over to look at handrail and other things I need doing around the house. The more I get to know him, the nicer he is, such a gentle soul, and I've given him a 'dead' orchid to try and revive as he loves them :)
    9. Signed a petition for meningitis research, hope it'll do good and make the powers that be agree to offer the vaccine
    10. Chatted to a lovely colleague in NY and am hoping that she'll come over to London again soon so we can go for drinks (oh I'm sure she'll have other things to do as well, lol) and chatted about MS with her (I seem to know a lot of people with that horrible condition now :( OH of course being the closest)
    11. DD's Christmas present of a slanket came through the post today :) I have everything bar the "big present" for her already, all 'bargains'!!
    12. My calcium/magnesium tablets that I'm hoping will make my bones strong like iron came through the post as well, yum yum
    13. Made scrummy dinner for me and DD and there's some leftovers for me to pop in the freezer for a cba day ;)
    14. Right, have stopped feeling sorry for myself that OH can't come and give me cuddles tonight, so happy for this website where I have the opportunity to offload and share my joys as well as my occasional woes x

    Thanks for the birthday wishes.
I enjoy the meditation part of yoga too - its the rest of it I don't like. My back hurts after yoga and Ifeel sor whereas I feel great after pilates even if my muscles may ache in a good way.

CCP - hope you're feeling better now

    My five for today are

    1. Picking elderflowers and asparagus when walking my dog and seeing lots of butterflies.

    2. Watching a chaffinch in the garden

    3. Starting to make elderflower cordial.

    4. Planting out courgette and squash plants and watering the rest of he plants.

    5. Watching the rugby on tv. The score is looking good at half time.

Not strictly old style, but very pleasurable nonetheless:

Making ice cream (salted caramel. It's amazing - even if I do say so myself )

Getting peace to just sit and chill with a magazine (definitely not O/S, but it's my one guilty pleasure. Delicious. is my favourite, I love drooling over the pics :rotfl:;))

And finally, line-dried bed sheets. Oh my goodness, I could go upstairs and cosy up right now :D :j

Welcome Seehar, four is a great start :D. How do you turn tee shirts into halters? Sounds interesting

    S x

Hey sparrer, I googled it and found these step by step instructions [STRIKE]here[/STRIKE]*. It's really quick and doesn't involve sewing! (unless you wanted to neaten the hems up i suppose) but that's good because i sew like a 5 yr old!!!
*[I tried to link it, but as im new it wont let me link :( but if you google "15 minute halter top" it should be the top result]

    some pleasures this week:

    1. got 5 tomato plants and a courgette plant from some ladies at work
    2. bag of reduced potatoes from the supermarket, 69p woohoo!
    3. made some cakes yesterday that were actually edible! tho OH has eaten the lot so will need to make more...
    4. not really a pleasure but quite funny...we saw a man up a ladder by my neighbours (who lives behind us) window thursday evening, he looked a bit shifty and we thought he might be a burglar so i shouted in my best threatening voice "oi mate! what do you think you're doing?!?!" and he replied "umm putting up a light...I live here!" oops!!! :rotfl:still, better to be safe than sorry! should get to know my neighbours better!!
    5. its the weeeeeekkeeeend :D
    6. just went out into the garden and OH has hung the washing out :)

oh one bad thing tho...I seem to have something squeaky and rustley living under my decking... hope its not rats! not really sure what to do about it...hmmm

hope you all have an enjoyable weekend :)

    Evening all

Had a bit of a shock today - nipped into Mr A to browse the RTC fridge section and it had gone!:eek::eek: - it seems they were having a bit of a change around - luckily I found it again! :o:o

villagelife - Happy belated Birthday
    freyasmum - Hi there
Frith - I hope you've cheered up and aren't so stressed out now.
Seehar - welcome to the thread

    1) Once I'd found the new home of the RTC fridge section I found some yellow sticky steak - there was loads of different stuff in there and I nearly fell in whilst rummaging
    2) Found a coupon for a dishwasher dosing thingy for £5 and found it was reduced to £5 in Asda so I got it free - I'll be taking it down south for my mum next week - don't worry she is used to strange presents from me after all these years :o
    3) My new passport arrived back today....took just over a week :)
    4) Washing done and dried out on the line this afternoon
    5) Another trip to the library to drop stuff off and pick more up
    6) Free sausage and egg bap at work for someone's leaving do :D
    7) Brought enough fruit home from work to last me the weekend - oranges are particularly nice ;)
    8) Money off vouchers for subway were on the mat when I came home - I don't go there myself but I know someone who will love them
    9) Chat on the phone with my mum last night - she'd forgotten she was supposed to ring me on Tuesday - She's forgiven considering that her and the cat were potting up things in the greenhouse instead :p

Hope you all had a great day

VJsmum I so agree about your No 3, I even keep the sauces as they always put too much in. Added to some meat/veg it tastes just as good as the original take away.
Carolyntia that must almost have caused a panic attack! Well done you for coping without resorting to hysteria til you found where they'd put the RTC fridge ;)
seehar thanks for the link, it looks too simple to be true! Might just have to rummage through my teeshirts in the morning and have a bit of a go :D
villagelife, belated birthday wishes :). I tried yoga once and fell asleep at the end, to be woken up by the group leader shaking me and telling me I was snoring . I never went back...
kittikins I love your No 6! They can't hang you for looking ;):D
CCP hope you feel better now

    1. washed, dried and ironed the sofa covers. Just got one sofa to put back together, a good day's work. And exhausting, it's like fighting with a coiled spring trying to get them back on
    2. Took my vacuum cleaner to the dealer to be repaired, they put it back together but didn't cure the problem. Took it back again (by now I was fighting my way through three feet of cat and dog hair) they told me it needed a part costing £58! The trouble with expensive items is the parts cost a fortune, and as I got it on Freecycle I wasn't prepared to pay that much for a part that just had a 1/2" lug broken off . So I brought it home, got out some superglue and hey presto! One working vacuum cleaner :p
    3. My potatoes are just showing the tiniest hint of flowering, should be ready to harvest a week or two after I get back from holiday. Sad I know but I feel quite excited, its my first ever home-grown veg :o
    4. nsd
    5. Two bags of bits to the charity shop who are asking for more bric-a-brac. Should help to fill their their shelves nicely, it's emptied mine!

    Night night, sleep tight
