I've had a bit of a week of it and haven't managed to post.

Anyway, here's my five for Sunday:

    1. Actually getting back onto this thread and catching up on a week's glut of pleasures from all of you - thank you.

    2. It was so blowy this lunchtime that I was having to chase the washing round the rotary airer and had to hold it very firmly still in order to get clothes pegged on. Made me laugh. Must have looked very silly to the neighbours but at least 3 loads of clothes got washed and dried pretty quickly.

    3. Spotting all the elderflower in the hedgerows. I remember a friend making elderflower fritters. Does anyone have a recipe?

    4. DSs went out to the cinema with vouchers they'd been given at Christmas so they got to see the new 'Pirates of the Carribean' for free (well it felt like it) and I got some time to myself.

    5. Got a good load of veg box stuff ordered for this week including a bag of organic cherries to give to my sister for her birthday. I thought that was a lovely extra present - well I'd like it anyway!

    Oh and another...
    6. On Radio 4 Extra they are broadcasting a serialisation of Michelle Magorian's children's book 'Back Home'. I knew the book anyway - and liked the story, but I think this adaptation has been really well done and the 30 minute episodes are just right for a sit down with a cuppa and my knitting.

    Sweet dreams,

    B x

okay, I will try and post my pleasures.....it is most un-pleasurable when you discover your long post has disappeared!

Sunday was wet & windy but not cold.
woke up early again & pottered round tidying.
lazy morning spent reading a book.
went into city & parked for free.
beautiful autumnal colours of trees, they are trully stunning.
nice dinner in a Chinese Restaurant.....not os but I save my money in other ways to enjoy eating out!

    Today:
    1. After a very early bedtime last night woke up bright & a bit too early ...5am, clock was set for 6am....had a bath as it was pouring! dozed off & woke up at 7.20am...yikes!

    2. Porridge for breakfast....not sure why I list this as a pleasure! However, it certainly does it's job in keeping my energy levels up!

3.Quick halfway to school with DD2, sadly missed hearing her speak at assembly, however, at least I got some exercise before heading to work.

4.Work was fine, everyone is nice & friendly and I thibk I will enjoy it, once I am familiar with everything...had to pay $5 to park, this is for a whole day, which going by Oz standards is okay, I'm just not used to paying for parking!

5.Got a lovely blue & white jar at Salvos, I've had my eye on for weeks.....now 1/2 price!

My energy levels have totally pooped now but still need to go & start dinner! Hopefully by the end of the week my body will adjust to working again! It's been a year since I did these same hours!

    Have a good week!

eta: saw 2 tiny wrens as I was walking from carpark this morning, they were tiny & so beautiful. They made me smile & I thought I need to list them as pleasures!!

    1. A lovely day watching rugby sevens at Twickenham. Took picnic and parked for free.

    2. Seeing DS1.

    3. Had a cheapish meal out and bought doggy bag home

    4. Met up with some friends for a chat.

    5. Rain in the morning meant I didn't have to water my pots.

    Evening all.

mhagster - I've been thinking how glad I am that the weather's gone chilly again so I can have yummy porridge for breakfast tomorrow. It looks like we're a long way from agreeing on that one! ;)

Broomstick - I love the idea of cherries as a birthday present - I'd certainly be thrilled to receive them. :) (Although they wouldn't prove to be a very long-lasting present in my case - I'd give them less than a day. :o)

    1) Very un-OS of me, but I got my oven professionally cleaned today. I doubt it's been done since it was installed in the flat, and it's amazing how shiny it looks now.

    2) A lazy afternoon at home while the cleaner was doing his thing, which gave me the opportunity to enter loads of competitions - fingers crossed I win something.

    3) A nice, if brief, walk by the sea before the wind blew me back inside.

    4) I feel hungry for the first time since before the weekend, and am actually looking forward to my dinner. :j

    5) Which will be veg satay noodles - very nom!

Have a very pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

The day is closing in as it began - blasting wind and not very bright.

    1. Was surprised to not be up until after 7, v.late pour moi, but had a day dejungling out back yesterday - digging, weeding, pruning, mowing, re-potting. All outdoor work has a more tiring effect in the wind, even though it is not immediately apparent. Ah, just hearing winds should ease considerably tomorrow.
    2. Some Guardian dawdly reading[Sat's edn]without guilt, fitted in between shampoos 1, 2 and conditioner, plus other kitchen faffing, throughout the day.
    3. Couldn't get hold of L in next village for retrieval of lge pyrex dish for tomorrow's baking @ Charity, so have done Coconut Dream slice in 2 trays and dolcelatte/ham/herby quiche-y thing in lasagne dish is in oven now.
    4. Amazingly, a small handful of early raspberries were ready - and eaten:-)
    5. Everything solidly watered - I turn the Poundland hose attachment, on wide spray, upside down. The low pressure dribble seeps widely and economically.
    6. A silly small thing - needed to bake the savoury pastry blind and used in-the-shell peanuts as weights over the greaseproof paper, thus 'roasting' the nuts. Satisfying double use of heat.
    7. Another book sold on Amazon - still haven't located it, sparrer. Many boxes to lug and sort yet.
    8. First use of olive wood saladier, cheaply found, clearly unused, prob.unrecognised for what it was. Perfect size and pleasing assymetric shape for lunchtime salad with olive oil and balsamic, eaten direct. Love it.
    9. Thankyou Broomstick for the heads-up on the Michelle Magorian on R4Extra - will definitely listen. Loved Goodnight Mr Tom.
    10. As I trekked through book boxes, came across a huge Pheasants of the World vol. which I'd forgotten to take to France - I see special chapters on my Great Argus fellow[feathers>Museum of Zoology for i.d./research:earlier post]. May gift book to them as a Thankyou.

I'm holding off for calmer weather before picking elderflowers from my tree for champagne, cordial etc. They do best with sun and stillness to encourage and fix their little yeasts.

Indoor comforts and snug safeness to all tonight. I'll be re-roofing no.1 shed, I can see - but it's no big deal.

hi all, not been a great evening so here's mine while I try to stay positive....

    1. Lovely breezy day meant the towels dried on the line.
    2. Sunshine
    3. Tidied the contents of my wardrobe and found my weightloss means I can get into a few more things.
    4. Having a mostly empty freezer gave me a chance to re-organise it all so I can see what's there.
    5. A nice day till OH got in a major strop because I didn't want to go out on my day off work, whilst he did his weights and he didn't believe I would stay in one room and not disturb him - although I wasn't allowed to play music because he wanted to, wasn't allowed to watch tv or do the Wii as he needed the front room as well as the hall, and wasn't allowed to stay in the kitchen because he didn't think I would.
    6. Will get the bed all to myself until he decides otherwise.
    7. As I apparently do nothing at all that he asks and won't give any of my time at all for him that means I am off duty from the cleaning, cooking, food shopping and washing.
    8. If I have been paid tomorrow, I shall take myself off somewhere and spend the day browsing charity shops.

    Evening all

My what a windy day....two of the saplings planted across the road from my house have completely uprooted and disappeared and a couple more have a distinct sideways slant :o. Luckily the little Rowan that was planted in my front garden is still holding strong :)

    1) The underground carpark at work - a pleasure because it meant I didn't get wet or blown about
    2) Lovely asda sausages for dinner :p
    3) Some more lovely oranges at work - I'm getting quite addicted
    4) NSD
    5) Nice quiet evening at home
    6) E-mail confirming a casual chat about another job on Friday
    7) Only 4 more days until I fly to Norwich to see my family and friends :D

Hope you all had a good day

    1. Received £8 of LV through the post from surveys I'd done :)
    2. Lovely cuddles and chats with OH *swoon* (sorry folks, even after 5 months, every time I see him, it's still all swoony and lovely, apologies for being so soppy ;):) )
    3. Scrumptious YS bread that I would never normally buy as DD hates it, but as it was YS, I could justify it :)
    4. £1 CD in Sainsbugs that will make OH smile
    5. Managed to get one of the 3 kids birthday presents I need for the next couple of weekends
    6. OH's parents have given me a couple of boxes of fabulous books to sell at the school fete :)
    7. Made myself scrumptious bottom of the fridge soup at lunchtime

(((newlywed))) hope your OH stops being a silly gosling and apologises very soon - but if he doesn't, I hope you have a king-sized bed, I love sleeping diagonally in mine on the rare nights when DD isn't in with me or OH hasn't come for a sleepover (pretty darned rare but lovely :) )

Ampersand - know what you mean about cooking things in the wrong bowls! I made stuffing in a massive lasagne dish tonight.

Newlywed - hope things improve dramatically. I have a king size bed too but have had a small person in it for nearly 8 years now and sometimes have 2!

    5 for today.

    1) Felt much better today. It's only when I feel better that I realise how low and down I have been feeling! So glad that's over for a while.

    2) Took car to be MOT'd and they did it while I waited. They have a little office you can sit in so I was very comfortable in there with their fan heater pointing at my back. They had a limited selection of books to look at so I chose Frankie Boyle's autobiography which I thought would be vile but it was pretty good! OH phoned when I was in there too (very rare he phones me when he's working) so that was nice. Car is 18 years old but has failed on minor things so will be repaired to drive another mile...

    3) Wasted a lot of time on an online shop which didn't work properly so went to Tesco and got loads of bits we had run out of. Feel more organised now.

    4) Did roast chicken etc for tea and no one complained. :-)

    5) OH was quite chirpy when he got back from work. And he was bearing a bottle of sloe gin after telling his colleague that we had collected sloes last year (I always make a lot but it has all gone now).

    6) Got a date and walnut cake in the oven as we speak.

(((newlywed))) men are just so silly, they never grow up and are infuriating at times. Hope all's well soon if not sooner :)

Not a great day, got insulted by someone who has always been a very close friend, then someone else in a stroppy mood told me off. Perhaps it was my fault, everyone else can't be wrong. Then there's the volcano, we're due to fly to Italy to meet our cruise ship on Friday of next week....:(

    1. A little rain, just enough that I didn't need water. First proper rain for weeks.
    2. Pulm exercise class was fun
    3. Stocked up on pet food prior to the upcoming holiday, everything I bought was bogof or reduced offer
    4. Tomorrow will be a better day

    Night night, sweet dreams
