Broomstick I've looked for ex-batts but haven't been able to source any in this area yet. I've got til mid June so will keep looking
    Tealady welcome 'home' :D
mcculloch I completely missed a line of your post and read '2. Good friend and colleague is out of hospita l, having been rushed in on the way back from holiday. (Severe cellulitis). not only can it be removed, it is also machine - washable'. My sympathies to your friend, and well done on getting the stain out of the mattress cover! :D

    1. Good pulm exercise class this am, physio gave me some suggestions of what I can do to help in my wiegh-loss attempts
    2. Visited DD, she's going to a 'do' on Saturday and wanted me to see her in the completed outfit. She looked stunning, I was so proud of her making such an effort to put it all together. Not easy when she gets so very tired much of the time with lupus :)
    3. Called into a nail salon who kindly gave me a treatment for my nails free of charge, after seeing the mess the previous place made of them.
    4. Found a garage that sells petrol at 2p a litre cheaper than all the others in the area :T
    5. Rain is forecast tomorrow :D (but Ill believe it when I see it...)

    Night night, sweet dreams

    Evening all.

    My five for Monday:

    1. Tried a focaccia recipe which wasn't helped by the fact I got half way through the mixing only to discover that we have run out of olive oil and focaccia's not the same with sunflower, and the bread flour and yeast are well beyond their bb dates and the six lovely little breads came out of the oven rock hard on the outside and probably would make killer frisbees... but the lovely pleasure was having the house full of the smell of bread baking. Such a good smell that!

    2. Did a bit of shopping in town and bumped into someone I hadn't seen for a while and we caught up on news.

    3. Spent £8 worth of vouchers at Lakeland on some of the bits and pieces I needed for my kitchen reorganisation.

    4. More knitting while listening to another episode of a radio play snuggled under a blanket.

    5. DS2 (16) unpacked some of his still-to-be-decluttered soft toys from when he was little and we spent some time reminiscing. Aaaah. :D

    Sleep well

    Welcome back tealady.

    My five for yesterday are,

    1. A NSD.

    2. Took salad into work for lunch.

    3. Found 1p.

    4. Found some asparagus and gave some to a friend at work who is having a tough time at the moment. Also had a long chat with her after work.

    5. Had a coffee where I worked in the morning and was told I could help myself to water and told where the loos were. Once a week I go into different schools to work and its very rare now to be offered a drink or told where the loos are. A few seem to take exception to showing me where the classroom is.

    6. Nice chat with DS1 on the phone.

    Morning cherubs :)

    Yesterday's delights....

    1. Went into the office and got all the important paperwork done and sent off for the month :)
    2. Went to Te$co and spent money (bad habits creeping back in already) but I needed to buy lunch....and got some bargains
    3. OH came over to babysit DD for me, thus saving me £20 and getting me lots of cuddles :)
    4. Bought a voucher for a play place that will be great fun for DD and a friend over half term, and save me lots of money :)
    5. Did a Reverbe and found 1p :)
    6. Lovely doctor's receptionist surprisingly offered to print out a repeat prescription for me and has marked it urgent, so hopefully I won't miss a day of my medication, even though its entirely my fault I got my dates wrong and thought I had another packet of the tablets....what a nice lady :)
    7. Good chats with friends at work, including one who wants to go and buy a hat as she's convinced that OH and I are in it for the long haul, lol. Bless her, I hope we are too, but he's already told me he doesn't want to get married again, but never say never as hypothetically I would love to spend my life with a second husband if one presented himself and was found up to the challenge ;):)
    8. Course mate drove me to college and we had a good natter
    9. Did a past exam paper at college, in 1 hour rather than 2, and I got over 70% - without doing any revision whatsoever!!! Good and bad as it may well mean that I don't bother to do any revision, but fantastic in that facts obviously have sunk in more than I thought they had :):):)
    10. Enjoyed a lovely dinner with my lovely DD and OH before going to college.

Right, working in the office and going to college all in one day was a mistake, my leg hurts like beggary again so I'm back to bed with my laptop for the day! Thank goodness for nice bosses who don't particularly care where I am, so long as I get the work done :) Hope everyone has a lovely day and I'll be back later to catch up on the fabulous things.

well.....WINTER arrived this morning! I had to scrape my car! Was all frosty! I took photos!

    1. The pleasure was my kind husband phoned me & told me my car was frozen! So I had plenty time to clear windscreen before going out!
2.Went to next town and looked for a job! Nothing going that I could see......I need to get my CV sorted & printed. Had a very nice hot chocolate & read of the paper! just what I needed to warm up!
3.Came home & tidied up.....I do it in the adverts as I watch TV ! Then I baked my LAST banana loaf.........no more frozen, mushy banana! And I am not paying the price asked for them! made vanilla cupcakes & also the most yummilicious macaroni for me & girls. OH's & DS had steak done in the slow cooker which apparently was very nice!
4.Went to secondary school DD2 will go to next year. Very different system over here, certainly to Scotland. You have to apply to schools in order of first to fourth choice. Every school has open evenings & tours & if you want , private tours. We did the tour for older 2 when we moved here, so I don't think I learned anything new but it was good for DD2 to see.
    5. DD1 & her friend were helping at Open Evening for their HE class.....so she came home with loads of cakes!!
6.I bought Irn Bru today! DD1 had seen it in a shop in next town! Not the biggest fan but kids like it as a treat. Got a reduced chocolate mud cake so we celebrated my FIL's birthday. DD2 was upset this morning at missing it as we always take him a cake (usually home made) , they are a big part of kids lives & they miss them so much.....just on phone to him now to wish him a Happy Birthday.

So a bit of a cakey day!

    Evening all.

I haven't had a great day today: I had a very stressful day in the office (albeit one that ended with a senior colleague taking personal responsibility for sorting out a problem caused by her department, which is an abject apology by her standards! ;)), then got home to find my patio covered in sparrow feathers, presumably courtesy of that 'orrible tabby I keep chasing out of the garden. :(

I've been trying to think of 5 nice things about my day since I got home, and I think I've managed it:

    1) NSD (unless you count a charity donation I made, which I don't ;)).

    2) A colleague who knows I'm trying to lose weight brought back the contents of the fruit bowl from a meeting, as well as the more usual cakes and biscuits, so I didn't feel left out of the general munching in the office. :A

    3) Lots of weeny berries on my blackcurrant bush.

    4) My 'rescue' lavender - acquired RTC because it looked to be on its last legs - has recovered and has new flowers on it. :j

    5) Lasagne for dinner. OK, it's super-low-fat veggie lasagne, but it's still lasagne! (Just call me Garfield! :rotfl:)

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

I'm going to post earlier than usual today because I think I'll try and get an early night.

    My five for Tuesday:

    1. Little wander in town while waiting to collect DSs and popped into my favourite haberdashery shop and didn't buy anything but had a good long look at stuff.

    2. Beautiful vegbox delivery when we got home. It all looked so fresh and delicious when I opened it. The fridge was all empty and clean to put it in.

    3. We got home late so supper is very late tonight but it will be baked spuds (which are cooking right now) with cheese and salad - all from the veg delivery. Simple and organic.

    4. Next episode of another radio play - there's several that I'm trying to keep up with at the moment. I like radio.

    5. This is getting boring but... yet more knitting. :rotfl:

    Sleep well.

    Hi Ladies,

I am knackered! I did a boxercise class at work this evening and I can barely lift my arms!!! I am going to ache tomorrow!

    1) Signed up my mum and me to do Race for Life next month. I also BBMed a friend to arrange to walk with her as well.

    2) NSD (if you don't count the fees for the Race for Life... and convincing a colleague to pay for my boxercise class :))

    3) Very healthy day of salads and whole grains... yum!

    4) Chatted to my mum on Skype

    5) Becoming friends on Facebook with an old jitsu friend who I haven't seen for ages. And arranging to catch up with him soon.

Anyway... now a hot bath for lil' ol' me before heading to bed.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
