    Good morning,

Just a quick visit as I need to get ready for badminton...

    Yesterday...
    1) took my car in to the garage who finally fixed my car last week to get the tyres tracked - my usual garage told me they needed it at my last MOT - and the new garage said they didn't need it... thereby saving me £25!!

    2) Bought two goji berry bushes and some pretty flower seeds. Now I need to dig some holes to plant them. Unfortunately my tendonitis in my shoulder makes me wary to doing any digging.

    3) Snooze in the afternoon which is always a pleasure

    4) Went into London in the evening to attend a kiwi friend of mine's leaving drinks. He has finally decided to go home after being in the UK for 10 years. A couple of my old jitsu friends were also there so it was nice to catch up with them too.

    5) Enjoyed my new book on the train - Homeland by Barbara Kingsolver. I really wasn't sure about it when I first started it but now would recommend it.

I had better get going otherwise I will be late for class.

    Have a lovely day everyone

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Hello all, been the most lovely day here....not too hot, a pleasant 20o.

    1.Long lie this morning.
2.Quick tidy up....accelerated by my grumpiness at being the only person who can see what needs doing....everyone soon joined in!
3.Went shopping! It's my birthday on Tuesday & I was having a moan about how I make a fuss of everyone elses birthday & would like the same for me.....point taken I think!
4.Had a nice late lunch when we were out so didn't need much tea.
5.Managed to get a good deal for OH's contact lenses. They are a lot more expensive here than back home, so have shopped around & got a cheaper deal.

It's now officially British summer time...hope your weather picks up, I am missing daffodils & spring generally....my favourite time of the year.

What a great thread, hope you don't mind if I join in? Still a bit of a newbie on the board.

We have had a lovely OS weekend. My stepdaughters have stayed and we have had a few treats thrown in.. First time in ages we've been able to afford it and it was worth it. We went out for lunch yesterday then into town and bought the girls some books and DS an iggle piggle and free book! He loves it and the look on his face was the best as I don't buy him new toys very often.

We then went home and I taught SD9 how to make pizza, which she was thrilled about. Then we made my first ever from scratch cupcakes with butter icing and they were LOVELY!

Last night I made my friend her birthday card with photo heads of her, her husband and inside their daughter pulling a funny face, all with cartoony bodies cut out of different coloured paper. This morning I made a batch of cheese scones 4 her as well and dropped off the card, scones and 3 cupcakes and she loved it. Plus it cost me hardly anything, bonus! Lol.

On way to MILs now for roast lamb. Tired but happy and looking forward to batch cooking some chilli later, and chopping up the veg for tomorrow nights stir fry!

Have a lovely day everyone. Caz x

    Afternoon all.

What a beautiful day. My pleasures for today:
    1. DH has re-seeded our lawn, hopefully will work out OK and cheaper than having the whole thing ripped up and starting again.
    2. Lunch outside with some Panny BM bread from a recipe I have adjusted and tweaked and now hopefully have got the flavours right for our tastes.
    3. DH finished decorating the hall, so carpet back down and can now get tidy again. I hate a mess, but know I have to put up with it whilst he is painting. It is worth it in the end.
    4. Went for a walk to a local Transition town food fayre this afternoon which was supposed to be all about local producers/growers. Quite disappointed as some of them were not what I would call local. The best bit was seeing a stall with some HM scones, selling at £1.50 each - can you believe it - and DH said we would wait until we got home for one of mine.
    5. Sitting in the garden when we got home with a cup of coffee and HM scones with HM jam.

Afternoon, everyone. Here's my pleasures for today:

    1. Made bread. For the first time, without a bread machine, just to see if I could do it. And it worked OK. DH says he prefers the texture of shop bought bread, but I think I might well make mine from now on. :)
    2. The woodpecker has been back in the garden. Beautiful to see him again.
    3. MiL was clearing out some of her kitchen cupboards and has passed to me a few bits of brandy/sherry to use in cooking, along with...
    4. ... a couple of stems of rhubarb from her fledgling plant in the garden. That's turned into a lovely crumble (to serve DH), whereas I have...
    5. ... rescued a rather sorry looking pear from the bottom of the fridge, stewed it with a little sugar and water, and turned that into a crumble for myself.

I've been rather down the last few days - hopefully it'll pass going into next week. Got to bed not long after 1am this morning, but have only had about an hour's sleep! Needless to say I'm a surviving on sugar atm. A new month starts soon, so that'll give at least a little more promise. Take care, everyone. Welcome to those who have recently found this thread.

    Welcome to VJsmum and Cazza1!

Mineallmine, good to see you again!

Kitchenbunny, sorry you have been feeling down and not sleeping well, but well done for still managing to find pleasures and for making bread - it is really a lovely, relaxing activity. Hope things get better for you and you get a good night sleep (a magnificent healer!).

    Pleasures for yesterday:

1 - Met with friend to have a cup of coffee and a chat

2 - Starbucks sent me 3 freebie vouchers after I complained about no availability of decaff filter coffee. 1 voucher each to DD and DS and one to my friend.

3 - When I went to pay for my coffee it appeared that my card was not registered (it is!) so the woman at the till let me have it free!

4 - Meet up and lunch in town with a group of low-carbers that I met on a forum. Very pleasant women, hope to go out and meet them again, they have regular lunches in a low-carb-friendly restaurant.

5 - Then met DH for big clothes shopping for him. He got completely re-kitted in good quality clothes, we spent a fortune but it was well worth it as he never buys himself anything and he works very hard. I am delighted for him and he is also over the moon for his purchases.

    Pleasures for today:

    1 - Lovely weather!

2 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH (at last, we re-started this good habit!).

3 - Long afternoon at the allotment with DH, lots of work done, he dug up almost all the plot and I weeded and planted rainbow chard.

4 - First crop of greens (cavolo nero, kale and a teensy weensy bit of sprouting broccoli) from the allotment.

5 - One allotment neighbour gave us some broccoli and another a small bunch of fresh coriander, which will both go into our dinner.

Am really really tired from the allotment work and so much sun! So I am going to cook now and then an early night. Have a good night, all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
