Evening
Jexy - Welcome back and please feel free to waffle as we like your waffle
Frith - Sparrer speaks wise words, hugs to you
Blimus - Hope your mum is on the mend and good news about your DH
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. 11 mile walk yesterday with my walking buddies through Virginia Water and Windsor Great Park. We did get a little lost but worked out well as we probably wouldn't have done the mileage we did if we had not got lost.
2. Bacon, Egg and mushroom sandwich at the end of the walk. You have no idea how good it tasted after 4 hours walking
3. Lovely soak in a hot bath when got home and DD and OH shopped for dinner and cooked
4. Trip to Kingston this morning with OH and DD. I managed to get a top in Hobbs using the last of my Red vouchers.
5. Shopping this week coming in under budget even though I splashed out on some lamb for dinner tonight
6. About to have lovely roast lamb and a glass of wine
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Tired tonight, so in brief
1. Got up early, did some gardening before I
2. went out at lunchtime with friends, lots of laughs as usual
3. made a turkey casserole in the sc using a drumstick, which has portioned into 6 and is cooling ready to freeze in the morning
4. DD took 2nd place out of 11 in her class at Crufts. Her litter brother took 1st, they share 1st and 2nd just about evenly wherever they go
5. more gardening this afternoon, it's beginning to look more like a garden than a scrap heap now the old kitchen has been removed
Night night, sweet dreams
Sx
ps welcome back Jex, keep waffling0 -
1. Finished painting the toilet walls
2. Started and finished laying the floor in the toilet
3. Had a lovely joke and a laugh with the boy running round B&Q
4. Managed to (almost) dry the clothes on the line outside
5. Had tasty bolognaise pasta bake made with store cupboard staples and sauce from the freezer0 -
Monday evening here! A public holiday called Labour Day.....a day to celebrate the achievements of the workers, specifically the 8 hour working day!.....so now you know! So a day off school for kids & work for OH.
1. Nice sunny day, not too hot and a nice wee breeze!
2. Relaxed morning, dd1 went of to a picnic in a park with new friends, they all take something to share with everyone which is a nice idea.
3. Discovered mice droppings in 2 cupboards YIKES! (remember last week I saw something mouselike in kitchen!) well had looked but hadn't seen anything until today, so washed absolutely everything! The pleasure in this....? MY DD1 has a very real phobia about rodents so I'm glad she was out. Have blocked off a couple of holes & moved everything into different cupboards.
4.Went for lunch with just 2 kids.....so that was a bit cheaper!
5. All my washing & ironing up to date, bedding all washed & bed re-made, so nice clean sheets to go into tonight!
6.Last night our next door neighbours were having a party ,they are from Eastern Europe & were singing the most beautiful songs & playing guitar! Didn't know what they were singing about but it lulled me to sleep!
Enjoy your Monday! x0 -
Morning all, just posting some pleasures for yesterday. I'm off work poorly today so am not feeling too great
1. While the lamb breast wasn't a great success (won't be trying it again), DH asked me if I'd bake a batch of Twinks' hobnobs when I got the chance so he could take them into work.
2. DH is feeling better.
3. DMiL has lent us her steam cleaner so we can try before we buy our own. There are some greasy patches of my kitchen with which I have quite a time getting clean. This should make it easier.
4. Got the fridge sorted out and anything nearly past it's best was turned into something better (i.e., freezer fodder)
5. Got one of my kitchen cupboards sorted out and chucked a load of plastic lids where I had no tub for them. I now have a nice clean cupboard which is either enough for a few bits of extra stored food or another kitchen gadget. Not sure which yet though!
mhagster - hope the mice take the hint.
cat-g-83 - I love it when I can make a meal from things I've got in the cupboards. It makes me feel great.
sparrer - good work with the garden! I'm trying to get up the enthusiasm to start doing ours.
Tealady - well done on doing an 11 mile walk. I haven't done that distance for a long time (school sponsored walks spring to mind).
Ditabombita - sounds like Sunday was a very productive day for you make do and mend wise. Glad your friend is OK.
Ladyhawk - There's nothing like a nice hot bath. Beef hash is one of my favourite meals - hope you enjoyed it.
CCP - mmm, pear and blackberry pie. Now I'm tempted. Mmm, that sounds delicious.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all!
CCP and Sparrer - my two eldest are 15 and 17 now, we lived in Goring by Sea when we had them, and often popped over to Chichester for a walk around, we now live in Somerset and one of my neighbour's daughters is at college in Chichester, small world! Looking forward to having a nose at the pics in a bit!
Caterina - I hope you and your hubby had a lovely weekend, been great weather down here for exploring.
Frith - sorry to hear about your family, but I'm with Sparrer, try not to worry about Mr N, he sounds lovely!
Right my most recent 5:
1. The sun shining and making everything look so bright and everyone seem so much cheerier!
2. dd3 being able to spend yesterday roller skating up and down the road with her friends, so nice to hear them all giggling together.
3. dd3 being so excited about her first trip to a hairdresser - she's 9, but has dead straight hair, so I've always just trimmed it myself! Her hair looks lovely and she is so pleased - not exactly OS, but lovely to see her face!
4. Cutting ds's hair with the clippers last night, grows so fast that it'd cost me a fortune, so I'm pleased that he doesn't like going to the barbers due to laziness and teenage can't be botheredness!
5. Seeing so many daffs out everywhere, I love them, real harbinger of spring!
Have a good day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Had a bit of a rubbish day at work today and feeling a bit blue and self-indulgent, so I really need to get back into doing this to keep myself sane!
1. Managed a lunchtime walk in the sunshine, even if it was in smelly London!
2. Didn't need to buy anything for lunches or teas this week as it's just me all week (DF is away with work) and our freezer's well-stocked and I'm doing some lunchtime mystery shops.
3. I ordered some presents for people's bdays and some earphones for myself off Amazon, always exciting to have parcels on the way!
4. Managed to completely empty the laundry basket: a rare occurance.
5. Our first choice of wedding photographer is free on our date, is one of the most affordable we found and seems lovely too!
6. I had my favourite takeaway EVER last night (treat due to aforementioned tiny weekly shop needed) - Pad Thai
7. We've begun a compost heap! How grown up!
8. I've booked my first spinning class (although I then promptly forgot what night it is). Am a bit scared but feeling determined!
Ahhh. Things look a bit better already! Love reading everyone else's, I need to keep writing as well as lurking!0 -
Feeling grot today but here's mine for the last few days:
1. HM hairy bikers teacakes
2. HM malthouse bread (doves farm recipe)
3. HM sun dried tomato focaccia bread (from dough book)
4. HM oven chips
5. Sunshine.
6. Managing to find bits on ebay to fix my dodgy laptop - for the grand price of £18Just need to wait for delivery.
7. Finally chose a pair of spectacles - gave in and accepted that the effects of age mean I do finally need to wear glasses.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Evening all.
1) A decent-ish day back at work, despite a Chicken Little moment when an un-noticed leak caused part of the ceiling to suddenly collapse - the sky is falling!
2) A nice walk in the sunshine at lunchtime.
3) I located part of an old hotel which I saw in the old photos of the area I was looking at over the weekend - I thought it had gone completely so it's nice to know a bit of it survives and is still used.
4) One of my favouritest dinners tonight - refried bean, pepper and cheese burritos.
5) Remembered I haven't watched last week's Hairy Bikers yet, so I can watch that while eating.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening,
Pleasures for today:
1. Pile of ironing done before work this morning and more washing out to dry
2. HM chicken and veg soup for lunch. Wasn't so sure about it when I made it yesterday but has improved overnight, just as well as there are 5 portions left.
3. Easy dinner of left over roast with oven chips and salad and some other bits lurking in the fridge
4. Bought a cooked chicken in Waitrose reduced to £1.99 so OH sandwiches for the week sorted plus a dinner and possibly another soup.
5. Off work tomorrow as having cavity wall insulation done but have not got a time other than after 11:30 so going to go to work with OH and walk back to get a training walk in early. Route planned and map printed in preparation.
Hugs to all who need them0
