As for MrN... I have just spent an hour walking round the village (in the dark!) wondering what on earth I am doing. Perhaps I'll never find someone who cares about me and fancies me.
    Grrrr.

Dear Frith, stop over-analysing! I know with so much else going on in your life it's difficult to see the wood for the trees but seems you're adding a problem that isn't there - Mr N. Going swimming, going shopping, meeting family, and now going away for the weekend, does that sound like someone who doesn't care about you or fancy you?

Forgive me for interfering if I'm wrong but imho you need him more than ever (and he you) so don't push him away in your mind, don't think so much!

    Sparrer:wise words missus!!

It's been a funny old day weather wise here! Was very hot ,very early. 32o when we went out this morning but oh the humidity! Then mid afternoon, sky got dark, wind picked up ,temp dropped 10o in minutes and the rain came down. We just got back to car, as rain was just coming on, we must have passed 4 wedding parties getting photos taken in the park we had walked through....poor them! It was then torrential for about 2 hours.....so can have a gulit free bath tomorrow!

    1. Went into city to the Moomba festival. It's on at this time of year every year & celebrates the Yarra River. We wanted to see the 'Birdman' competition, where people try & fly off the end of a pier in various contraptions to see who can fly the furthest! Was very funny but oh so hot!

    2. We had a nice picnic on the grass, watching all the various activies going on.

    3. Walking through a park we found a horse chestnut tree.....complete with conkers bursting out there cases....a favourite Autumn activity back home!...we were most excited! A simple pleasure!
Wind picked up & the leaves were blowing all around us!

4.Hearing the bagpipes being played in a neighbouring garden ! Played some Scottish tunes .....a bit of a sad pleasure :(

    5. Listening, smelling & watching the rain pour down!

    Enjoy your Sunday xx
  • morning all, hope the sun is shining where you are! here are my five today:
    1. waking up to a miserable day and thinking we would be housebound with no car....but now, the sun has come out, woo hoo!
    2. Got a lovely marinated duck in the oven cooking for tomorrow nights dinner, easy night for me :)
    3. Did lots of shopping around nd restocked the house with fruit and veg from the market, met from the butcher, cleaning things from pound shop then whatever else we needed from the supermarket, I feel very pleased that I didnt give all our hard earned cash to the s/market and supported a few local businesses.
    4. Rooms completed as part of fly lady thread are still as clean and tidy as the day i did them which i am quite frankly...amazed at.
    5. Brother might be coming to visit which means he will entertain the small one while I can hopefully chill out with a sunday paper.

    Happy sunday lovely people x

Combined 2 days as I''ve not been anywhere due to yerch weather for cycling - I have arthritis, so trike is my means of shopping.

    1. Catching up with friend's news when she visited and passing on a bagful of things she needed.
    2. Decluttering my office (partially) - more still to do.
    3. Wales winning. I am Welsh, despite the surname and location.
    4. Pampering myself this morning and realising that thanks to all the ongoing pampering I definitely no longer have a problem with hard skin on my feet (sorry if that is TMI). I have poor circulation in one foot and leg so using callous knives to deal with it was always fraught with extra dangers.
    5. Cutting my own hair successfully. It was less than an inch off all round on super-fine, poker straight hair. In January the same amount cost me a tenner at the hairdressers.

Big hugs to those who need them. Special thanks for the good wishes about my sister. It's her birthday Wednesday but typically of her she's leaving it until tonight to tell me what she wants. TG for Amazon.

Frith - hugs to you as you seem to need them and I agree with sparrer

    My five for yesterday are
    1. DS2 won his hockey match and it wasn't too cold watching him.

    2. Italy won. i was so excited and pleased for them and Wales also won.

    3. Met a friend for coffee in a cafe and them preparing scones for her fresh that were gluten free as they didn't have any cake already made. Great service and pleasant surroundings.

    4. Early night reading my book.

    5. Finding two lovely old bottles on my walk that will clean up and look good.

    Yay, welcome back Jexy :)

    (((Frith)))

    Mine for yesterday......

    1. Had a scrummy lunch with DD and MrA at the pub and he paid for it :)
    2. Drank an amazing bottle of wine with dinner courtesy of MrA, he's working his way up the range, introducing me to lots of delicious grapes :)
    3. DD came in to sprinkle some 'magic' into the risotto I made for dinner
    4. Pleased MrA by cooking him a chicken breast to have with veggie risotto, I'm such a wonderful girlfriend aren't I?!? Had no idea what it was supposed to look like when cooked, but hey, he's still alive, so it can't have been that bad!
    5. DD had a great time riding her bike in the park and I loved watching her and nattering to MrA about how we're going to try and get her stabilisers off!

    Today........
    1. Good discussion with MrA about DD's energy levels as she gets very tired, I've been advised myself by dietician to eat more protein, so makes sense that DD will need more too. He came up with lots of recipe ideas, bless him :)
    2. Dropped DD round to a friend's and they went to Sunday School together so that poor MrA wasn't left alone............ ;)
    3. Filled the car up with cheapy petrol at A$da, even cheaper using my A$da credit card with 1p/litre discount, still was a shadow under £50 for the tankfull!! Gulp....
    4. Spent a fortune in A$da but bought myself a gorgeous blouse that I need and lots of protein-rich fish for me and DD.
    5. Road-tested a lovely Italian restaurant we've never been to and were very lucky to get in as it had just one table for 2 left when we got there. Yummy scrummy food and DD has been introduced to the delights of tiramisu :) We may go back for DD's birthday dinner on Wednesday.

So far, this weekend has been blissful :)
  • Great to see you back Jexy :D

Have been M.I.A for a while as my mum was taken into hospital last Sunday with heart problems. She is okay but the problem needs sorting as her heart has been fluttering and arythymic (sp?) ever since :(

Here are my pleasures for the past couple of days:

    1) DH got a one-night a week job! It's only one night but there is also relief work and another vacancy opening up at the same place, so hopefully this could turn into full time.
    2) My pt work has been doing well recently - not enough to cover the mortgage but have been able to put some aside for emergencies.
    3) DH put a new washing line up for us and I was able to dry the washing outside for the first time this year.
    4) Found lots of things to sell on ebay and those sales have been doing well too.
    5) I opened a shop on Folksy today for my amigurumi bits I've been making. I still feel a bit weird about selling stuff I've made but I haven't had any bad feedback from anyone yet (fingers crossed!)

Also, a major positive, as sparrer said, is obviously to be thankful for what I have when seeing the nightmare that Japan is suffering at the moment.

    Evening all.

Blimus - hope your mum gets better soon.

jexy - it's so good to see you back! I'm glad your girls are doing OK. :)

    1) A nice lie-in this morning - the last for a while as I'm back to work tomorrow.

    2) I think I've sorted out what colours I want to redecorate my flat in, and my DF has promised to come over and help me do the painting. :A

    3) My grandmother has decided to go ahead with her house move despite her lawyer trying to put her off: it seems he doesn't like the Isle of Wight - fine, as no-one's asking him to move there, are they?

    4) Finally got round to making the pear and blackberry pie I've been intending to make all week. It's not a great success - I just can't get the hang of working with pastry :(:o - but the end result looks pretty edible, at least. ;)

    5) Possibly out with friends later - the fight with the pastry's left me in a rather bad mood so I don't really fancy it at the moment, but I'm hoping the idea will grow on me when I've eaten some pie. ;)

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

    Hope you are all well.

    1) Lovely lie in this morning.

    2) Finally sorted out my home insurance (fingers crossed that the quidco works out)

    3) Chatted to my mum on the phone this evening

    4) Made beef hash for supper. I kind of made up the recipe and maybe it wasn't even a hash but it was yummy.

    5) Going to have a nice hot bath in a sec...

    Night all... sleep well

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    4. Lovely Email from my mate back home in the North East who I posted some suprise left over veggie seeds to for her allotment
    5. Due for a mad (expensive) eve out in Leeds - train cancelled (I live miles away) so although I missed it (boo) on the bright side saved £30+ and no hangover.

    Sunday -
    1. Darned my fave cardigan for work (sprouted weird holes under the arms last week)
    2. Hot glue gun fixed my boot sole back on to make them wearable again
