Hi all
Just a quick hello as I need to do lots of things today, then going away until Monday night (I suppose that the break will do for all my weekend and Monday pleasures bunched up in advance!) with DH to a nice hotel in Bristol. We first visited Bristol thanks to the OS meets and loved it, so we decided to visit again, this time just to chill out. He is very tired, working very hard and then going to the allotment, helping around the home, doing his martial arts and he really needs a couple of days where he has to do nothing at all (other than worship his delectable wife of course!).
So I shall see you all in a few days time.
Be well! xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
- Throwing a "found" tennis ball for 1hr on the beach for my very apreciative dog.
- foundout mr and mrs toxic at work have their days numbered, bout time! and mr doesnt even know yet... sweet deserts are best served cold
- sitting on the sofa with a hot water bottle and my snuggle blanket as apposed to turning the heating on.
- filling out surveys and doing reviews for $/£ nearly at payout points for some now.
- NSD as eating from store cupboard and feezer hopefully all weekend.:T

Afternoon all.
Well, I'm back after enjoying a couple of computer free days (well, Iwas enjoying them until I switched the computer on this morning and saw the dreadful news from Japan).
Catch-up time:
Caterina - have a lovely weekend away.
sparrer / mummysaver - I didn't know you both had links to Chichester - it made me smile to know that.
mcculloch - that's great news about your sister - that's very good to read.
Frith - I'm glad your DS is coping OK with his broken finger - he's obviously a tough lad.
house elf - I'm glad you had a nice time in Portsmouth. I quite agree with you about Petersfield, too - it's a lovely little town to mooch around.
Some pleasures for the past few days (in no particular order):
1) Several nice lie-ins.
2) A free mozzarella in my veg box - I'm not quite sure why but, as my DM said, you should never argue with a freebie!
3) Sadly decided I was never going to be able to bring myself to wear my charity shop jumper (it's the one that I found was all dirty when I went to wear it), so I donated it back to them (properly washed now) to sell to someone less squeamish.
4) Won a nice new tshirt in a pub quiz.
5) A lazy pub lunch yesterday - not remotely OS but it consoled me slightly for finding that the shop I had gone out specifically to visit had closed down.
And for today (early as it is):
1) Put the new throw over my new sofa - it looks nice and will help protect the sofa from cat claws.
2) Did some weeding out on the patio, so that's looking a bit tidier.
3) Loads of daffodils in the garden, but I can still see spaces where I can put some more.
4) Looking through some old photos on a website my mum sent me a link to - those who know Chichester might find these interesting.
5) Takeaway tonight, to celebrate the last night of my week off.
Have a nice afternoon / evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all well. I've just got back from a brilliant week in Chamonix. My skiing was appalling and my boots were agony but I had such a good time. I was travelling alone and a great group of lads took me under their wing so I had people to hang out with and ski with.
1) My new friends. I really hope that we do manage to stay in touch.
2) A week of gorgeous warm sunshine
3) The welcome I got when I got home from the kitty cat.
4) Made some yummy bran muffins this evening
5) No hangover this morning which is surprising given the amount of port and wine we drank last night!
Night night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Welcome back Ladyhawk, sounds like you had a good time and were well looked after by your new friends
CCP we lived in Littlehampton for 7 1/2 years, had a business there so often went to the cash n carry in Chichester, and one of our favourite restaurants was in Funtington, not far from there - in the days we could afford to eat there
Caterina hope you're having a good, romantic, weekend away from the daily grind
Mhags paddling with fish swimming round your feet reminded me of the latest craze of 'fish pedicures'. I'm surprised no-one has complained of cruelty to the poor fish yet, put in a bowl with a pair of stinky feet . Yeuchk!!!!! There can't be anything much more disgusting. (Not saying yours were stinky, honest)
destroyerofdebt good to hear your dog practises OS, using an abandoned tennis ball
1. a beautiful Spring day, all doors and windows open til dusk
2. nsd
3. DSinL came and plumbed in the washing machine for me
4. Two loads of washing done, and dried on the line
5. Long chat with DS on the phone. Poor thing's suffering from man flu so needed Mummy's soothing voice (not that he got it, ha ha)
Night night, sleepy tight

i've been awol but lurking, however too many pleasures to note for all! Realised I need to get back, however randomly due to reading a link that made me think of here! I need to get back to give a purpose so here goes!
1) rediscovering this thread and how much i got from the small effort it takes to post, but how much i got from it
2) despite the random snow, the daffs seem to be holding up!
3) discovering that in fact, I am not the only person in the world that managed to kill rhubarb, its sprouting!
4) my boo dog looking at me when i told him to do something he really didnt want to, and him not sulking for long enough to make me feel bad!
5) the girls (hens) STILL LAYING! they have done all winter, and despite the snow, still doing it against all odds!
Be gentle with me, im not gonna waffle i promise!
jexI will pay jexygirl the compliment of saying that she invariably writes a lot of sense!0 -
There aren't 5 for today (Saturday). I'm sure there should be. Mum found out yesterday her sister has breast cancer. Mum's mum died quite young from that. My sister last night went out with an absolutely awful man whom she lived with for several years. I *really* hope that relationship doesn't re-start. They separated 3 years ago and it took my sister 2 years to get over it.
As for MrN... I have just spent an hour walking round the village (in the dark!) wondering what on earth I am doing. Perhaps I'll never find someone who cares about me and fancies me.

Morning, all. Here are a few pleasures from yesterday:
1. An early night. DH came back suffering from a migraine, so Saturday night was pretty non-existant for him, bless him. He seems a little better this morning but still has a headache.
2. I made probably the best lasagne I have made yet. It had loads of veggies in so is really healthy too.
3. I also made some little coconut tarts from the Be-Ro cookbook and there aren't many left they're so nice.
4. Went shopping at Mr A yesterday and came back with the things we like but can't find comparably in other supermarkets - those are all in the storecupboard now.
5. Got all the cleaning done yesterday along with the ironing while watching repeats of Wonders of the Solar System.
Hopefully a lazy day today - there's no housework to do so the only thing I have to do is cook tea. I'm changing my mealplan as I found a nice looking lamb breast yesterday and will probably put that on my trivet in the slow cooker for the day then into the oven to brown up later. Might be able to use the juices that come out of it as a lamb stock too, which is good. Just got to work out which stuffing to use inside it. Yum! Have a good day.

Morning Folks!!
Nice to see you back Jexy!
A few recent pleasures
1. I have started a thread on MSE and people have joined me in my challenge!
2. DD back from Aldershot. She seems to have enjoyed the experience.
3. DD and DS1 have had good exam results this week.
4. Taking some friends for a meal last night. (Using vouchers, of course!). Haven't seen them for ages and it was nice to catch up, even though some of it was about a recent funeral.
5. Lots of voucher shopping in Mr T and Boots. Makes up for all the money we have had to spend on the car recently.
Have a lovely day. (I shall be decluttering and EBaying, while worrying about DD having her first driving lesson). HE x0
