    Evening all.

    1) Was up early so decided to head into the office an hour early. I managed to sweet talk our IT guy into giving me a new laptop after mine had an interface with the floor.

What a lovely way of putting it! :rotfl:

Caterina - thank you for posting about your weekend - I read your post at the end of a hectic day at work and read the whole thing with a big smile on my face. :) I'm glad you had a lovely time.

    For today:

    1) Got a load of ticks on my work to do list, despite the computer network shutting itself down for three quarters of an hour for unknown reasons.

    2) My sister let me know she's planning on visiting at the end of the month, which should be fun.

    3) Wore a new pair of earrings to work - I thought they might be too heavy to wear all day but they were fine.

    4) HM fruit pie for dinner (well, for after dinner, anyway ;)).

I can't think of fifth one at the moment - maybe something will come to me later.

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Hi everyone, lots of lovely pleasures today :)

    1. Made a delicious make it up as I went along fish dinner tonight, pleasing DD no end as she was grumpy as she thought she'd hate it and then ate the lion's share!! :)
    2. Lots of fun at Rainbows celebrating St Patrick's Day in our own special way :)
    3. DD drew me a beautiful 'framed' picture this morning, it's hanging up beside my bed looking soooo cute.
    4. Took in yummy leftovers for lunch, saving a few much needed pennies.
    5. DD and I are enjoying watching Hairy Bikers and MrA has just texted to say he's watching it too!! Surely Diggers are just Twinks (but with added coconut) :)

Sorry MHagster - good luck with the job application, hope you'll be successful :)

MHagster - Good luck with the jop application, fingers crossed.

    Pleasures for today:
    1. OH dropped me off at his office and I walked home, 7.5 miles all before 9:30.
    2. Work men arrived to carry out cavity wall insulation. Hopefully will reduce the enegy bills a little bit.
    3. Yummy chicken salad for lunch using up some leftovers in the fridge
    4. Having an hour to myself this afternoon to chill and read the papers
    5. Getting a £5 refund from Mr.T as they would not take the co-op voucher I had on Sunday but phoned head office and they arranged the refund for me as they should have accepted :j

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening Peeps!

    Todays 5

    1. Cottage pie for tea. Simple but nice :)

    2. Got up early and did lots of little jobs before everyone else woke up. Love it when the house is quiet!

    3. One of my students is from a traveller family. She has reappeared after a long absence, and it is soooo nice to have her back. She is a lovely girl. :j

    4. Making bottle rockets and letting off coke fountains with my 6th form class this afternoon. They are really good fun :rotfl:.

    5. Tel call from an old friend inviting us to big birthday party. Funny how I recognised his voice immediately even though we have barely kept in touch over the last 30 years :) (Bet I chicken out of going :o)

Kitchenbunny - I have just made a pot of Yorkshire tea. All the nicer for being on special offer from Costco :money:
Have a lovely evening. I am going to enjoy a shower and early night, as DH has taken DD to another Uni audition. I can sit in bed with my lap top and tap away without bothering DH. Night Night x
  • Caterina - Glad you had a lovely weekend away.
Mhagster - fingers crossed for your job application :D

Gave in and had a 'sick day' today - which is a really rare occurrence for us when we have both work and school at home! DS2 and I have these awful coughs which make back and heads ache and really wipe you out after each bout.
    But there were still pleasures:

    1) Watching the history channel with DS2 about asteroids and solar eclipses. I like learning what he learns!
    2) DS1 used the no-lesson opportunity to do some great work on his own - he figured out by himself how to make a film and add music.
    3) A NSD.
    4) It looks like our ever helpful neighbour will be able to fix our oven door which means we don't have to buy a new oven just because of a broken door catch.
    5) Made some more very green soup to have when I feel peckish, instead of grabbing something much more fattening!

Hugs to all who need them.

Wednesday evening, a bit cooler today which was nice, it was National cycle to school day....so out came my bike which I've not used since we moved!

    1. Not sure if it's a pleasure but free wheeled down the hills & pushed a bike up the hills! But was back home sooner than usual! and it was cooler so could have been worse!

2.just pottered about really! washing, ironing, hoovering! Screamed like a banshee when a spider fell out of something I picked up, I detest the things!

    3. Got a letter from my letter writing friend so sat & did one to her.

    4. Girls got their hair cut after school & look lovely.

    5. Nice dinner & hope to sit quietly this evening & have an early night....couldn't quite believe it when my alarm went off this morning!

Thank you for good wishes for job! I had to apply online & send in CV & covering letter online.....haven't needed a CV in about 20 years. And last few jobs have been offered based on being in the right place at right time I suppose! My personality getting me the job which is hard to convey online! Anyway, I now feel time is right to rejoin the workers.....can't spend rest of my life pottering about!

Just trying to catch up with myself again. Some pleasures over the past few days, although it feels complacent to feel content with one's life when so many people in Japan right now have had their whole world destroyed. Hopefully we can all find some money to donate to the various appeals for help being made.

    1. Unexpected visit from a good friend popping in for a chat recently.
    2. After fearing our little pond wasn't going to get any frogspawn this year, we're now innundated with it, so hopefully will have tadpoles and baby froglets to look forward to.
    3. Nice exercise session in the park at our outdoor gym. It's such a pleasure having a gentle work out in the fresh air under a sunny sky, and we're so lucky to have this free facility.
    4. Just finished enough surveys to earn another £20 in vouchers. Am saving them up towards the cost of the next big piece of household equipment that will invariable give up the ghost sooner or later.
    5. Had a beautiful !!!! pheasant wandering around our garden early this morning for an hour hoovering up all the birdseed and grain that the birds had knocked off our bird table. So grateful to be retired so that I could spend time just watching him instead of having to gulp down breakfast and rush off to work.

    My five are
    1. A NSD despite wanting to buy crisps as I walked past the cafe at work.

    2. A lovely sunrise.

    3. A change at work made my day less stressful probably harder work but easier.

    4. HM chicken and bean stew and remembered to soak beans the night before and cooked them before work.

    5. Finding 1p in the carpark.

    Hi all

Kitchenbunny, CCP and Blimus, thanks for your kind words re. my weekend, I have to admit that it was seamlessly wonderful, even compared to other good outings, everything seemed to fall into place so beautifully. Perhaps it was because my poor overworked DH really needed a lovely treat and the Universe offered him (and me, lucky me!) just that! Asked how much he rated it from 1 ghastly) to 10 (paradise) he said 9, and that was only because of the initial stress about the Underground leaving late.

Ladyhawk, you were just up the road from me (and a couple of other OSers I can think of) at the Excel centre! If you are ever around the E/SE London neighbourhood let us know and we can arrange an impromptu meet!

Tealady, could you please clarify the Co-op voucher and MrT., I was under the impression that they no longer take vouchers as a policy, or am I mistaken? Good for you for calling Head Office, it is always so awful when you try to exercise your right to save money and the petty dictators in charge refuse to cooperate and make you feel cheap about it.

Primrose, so lovely to hear about the pheasant visit, I always get really excited when I can spot one in a field when traveling. They are such beautiful birds, aren't they?

Just in to say hi, will be back to list my pleasures for the day. Have a good day everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
