    Morning all!

My pleasures since my last post:

    1. Weather warming up and glorious sunshine yesterday - gives us all hope of warmer weather to come and makes people smilier!

    2. Getting the utility cleaned yesterday, still need to go in and have a good S&S around with some bleach, but it's no longer muddy and hairy from the hound!

    3. Watching Joanna Lumley going up the Nile, she is so charming to everyone, it's lovely to watch someone who doesn't feel the need to make sarcastic asides. Also watched a programme last night about whether David existed as portrayed in the Bible, whilst I didn't think it was a great programme, I really enjoyed looking at the different archaeological sites!

    4. Not being my turn to do the youth club run this week, yay! So had plenty of time to chat to the other three kids, and then jammies and an early night.

    5. Enjoying a lazy pottering morning today as got most of the house sorted yesterday.

    6. Raspberry and redcurrant sticks that I got in Poundland showing lots of green leafy growth.

    7. Finally found cheap tinned toms on offer at work! Needed to restock!

    8. Best friend helping me by lifting and carrying the new flooring yesterday, and he's going to help me lay it too.

    9. Feeling spud kicking and wriggling around!

    10. Enjoying reading this thread!

Caterina - we are told that we should accept all money off total spend coupons from competitors (tho not Farm Foods - no idea why), so long as the criteria are met, ie in date, min spend met. There is actually a button on the till for it! We don't take vouchers for items that haven't been purchased, or that are specific to other stores ie 50p off when you buy Ready Brek from Asda. Internet coupons are at the managers' discretion. As far as I know this is the current policy that applies to all stores.

Thanks Mummysaver, for your informative reply, it clarifies things for me. Tesco used to take coupons even if you did not buy the item but now you have to, that's where I was confused. Having said that, I had a dispute about a coupon in Sainsburys (valid, product bought) and was really stonewalled by a till assistant. In the end I went to the manager and he agreed that I was in the right, the product was the right brand (only, the assistant said that because it was a different picture I could not use it - go figure the logic!). The manager confirmed that even if I hadn't bought the product the supermarket would have got the money back anyway!

Evening, everyone. Just popped on to add my pleasures and whatnot. Here goes:

    1. Picked up some lovely pears from the market - a big bowl of lovely large conference pears for £1. I now need to find a recipe for a chocolate pear pudding that can go in the freezer.
    2. Found out that the cup tray in my car that I thought was stuck will come out with a bit of effort. I think with a bit of WD40 it might be brought back to good as new!
    3. Another Lost disc in the post today - yippee!
    4. A nice simple omelette for tea.
    5. Saw a newt while out on a walk last night. Aww, I love newts. Or lizards, whichever it was. I hope its OK as there were quite a few owls hooting last night!

I'm trying to keep myself positive if DH gives comments about my driving. I know he means well, but I do take things to heart easily. It's quite a balance to keep. I shall have another cup of tea and do a spot of mealplanning - that'll help. I bought a small pot of cream with the aim of trying to make butter, so I might give that a go. :)

    Have a good evening, everyone.

    Hi again

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Breakfast with DH, he is attemtping to go low-carb with me (has a bit of a paunch to lose) and I cooked scrambled tofu with leaves and spring onions, spiced with chilli and turmeric. It was delicious. The tofu was a gift from an OSer friend who had many spare packets from a bulk Approved Foods purchase!

2 - Easy day pottering about.

3 - Lunch with DD and DS together, a rare occasion when they are both here at the same time.

4 - A friend visited with her 6 month old (absolutely adorable) baby.

5 - I went for a walk and visited an elderly lady whom I have known for a long time. Although it is sad to see her memory deteriorate (she asked me how I feel about "this war" and when I asked for clarification I realised she was talking about WW2) she was in good spirits and glad to see me. I am planning to go and see more often.

Off to do some ironing now and then cooking for the hungry family. Good night all! x

    Evening all.

Kitchenbunny - how lovely to see a newt / lizard / whatever it was - and owls too! :) Owls are my DM's favourite so I always think of her when I see or hear one - not that that happens very often in a city. ;)

Primrose - pheasants are lovely looking birds, aren't they? My council has just started introducing gym equipment into my local park - I must go and have a play some time!

mhagster - good luck with your job application - I'm sure your personality will come over just fine in writing - it does on here, after all. (I mean that as a compliment, by the way - having written that sentence it looks vaguely sarcastic, which isn't what I mean at all! :o)

Blimus - I hope you and DS have been feeling much better today.

house elf - bottle rockets - I remember having fun with those when I was at school! :D

    1) Looking at all the daffodils in my garden and working out how many different types I've got. (Only four - I'll have to get some more to keep things interesting. :))

    2) Finding that the salmon pate I was intending to have for lunch was still OK (and very tasty) despite being a couple of days past its BB date.

    3) The city museum seen through sunlight fog on the way home - it's got little turrets like a French chateau and looks really pretty in certain lights.

    4) Cuddles with my puddy tat when I got home.

    5) A naughty but nice dinner of cheese and onion crispbakes, chips and beans. (That's not what's on my mealplan but it's just what I fancy. ;))

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Caterina - I was down at Excel again today - pity I have only just read your message re an impromptu meet up. Also how heart breaking to listen to an old friend getting confused.

    1) Had another good day at the food expo at Excel... didn't get a chance to get some good samples, though did meet up with a couple of old colleagues who I haven't seen in a couple of years.

    2) Chatting on Facebook to a friend in Canada.

    3) Getting a text message from one of the guys I met skiing. He's such a sweetie!

    4) The meeting that was arranged with my boss while I was away, which I was dreading turned out to be absolutely fine. I thought I was going to get into trouble for not doing something.

    5) Nice taxi drivers to and from the station - cheerful, not too chatty, turned up on time!

    night night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    4. Discovered Yorkshire tea. I didn't realise how nice it was.

Which brings me to Pleasure 1

    1. Yorkshire tea at work yesterday. I bought a huge box of bags so that there was a decent chance of me having a cuppa I enjoyed. I'm only in there one day a week.

    2. Hearing how much my sister enjoyed getting her birthday card and gifts.

    3. A great night out at our live music club - wonderful songs.

    4. Winning a bottle of wine in the raffle. I am very lucky with raffles.

    5. One of my hardest-working students passed his Maths exam today.
Great to see hard work rewarded.

    Yesterday's goodies :)

    1. Celebrated my DD's 6th birthday in many lovely ways :) Presents, cards, texts, cuddles, phone calls, she got the lot with plenty more to come in the following days
    2. 3 of my good friends got to meet MrA when they came over with their children for birthday cake after school.
    3. Scrumptious dinner in a restaurant where they catered for our veggie, MrA's dairy and GF requirements and of course, DD's birthday fun! (Candle in her icecream and a choccy ladybird on leaving, she was very happy :)).
    4. Good working day from home, felt like I achieved quite a bit.
    5. Made a few marmite and cheese tarts from the Hairy Bikers' Mums Know Best recipe database. Wow!!! They could be very dangerous.....how scrumptious??!? Mmmmm, making myself feel hungry just remembering the taste, lol
    6. Spoke with MrA about the cottage I'm looking to rent in France and he's very excited about coming with us, yippee! Roll on summer :):)

mcculloch - DD said she wanted to keep one of her birthday presents, a Disney princess lunchbag "for special occasions" and I said no, every day is a special occasion, enjoy it, she thought about it briefly and agreed, so took it to school very proudly. Bless her little chops!
