Ladyhawk - Exciting about your Dubai adventure :j
Mhagster - well done on dealing with the spiders. I'm not sure I would be as brave.:T
frugalpam - well done on getting into your small dress :T. As soon as all these choccies and goodies have gone... :rotfl:
sparrer - that must've been nice to find out about your little windfall. :j
Rebekah - sorry to hear about your OH's dad.
Here are mine from yesterday and today:
1) Went to visit DS1's friend from his old school. I am also friends with his mum so we all had a lovely visit.
2) DH found a couple of old paintings that were being thrown away. One of them is by an artist from New Zealand and some of her works have sold for a couple of hundred quid. Not saying this one is worth anything but we may give it a go.
3) Had a delicious macaroni cheese using up some of the cheese hamper cheese. So much cheese to still get through
4) Nice phone call with my sister.
5) Watched the 'When Harvey met Bob' programme that was on the other night. Really good.
Today:
1) Took the family for a visit to Gt Yarmouth.
2) Chips on the market
3) There was a second hand bookshop selling all books for under 90p. We came out with a couple of bags full!
4) I've wanted a 'bird clock' for ages so I finally got one in the Boots sale today for £7.50.
5) DS2 has finally agreed that he will stay away at the Scouts New Years Eve indoors camp tomorrow. I know that he will have a fabulous time but he is very anxious about it as he's never stayed away before. The leaders have very kindly let DS1 stay too (who is an older Sea Scout) so that it'll make DS2 feel better about sleeping away. Fingers crossed he'll still want to stay tomorrow night.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

4 Made a veggie stew with all of the tired-looking vegetables.
5 Have started a catalogue of all my DVDs.I think that I might have over a thousand ...:o..It will help me to feel more organised.

Well, it's Happy Hogmanay already in Australia. It is forecast to be 38o today, I have never experienced that level of heat before so not sure how I'll cope.......probably extra crabbitly!
Okay Thursday's pleasures:
1.'Relaxed' day ........as in didn't do very much! Pottered about, did wii fit, read, computered!
2.Whilst doing wii fit I watched an episode of Coronation Street from 2003.......much younger looking characters, a few no longer in it!
3.Put a washing out at 5pm.....still roasting, back in dry for 6pm , ironed (still not put away!)
I was really looking forward to having a laundry room (sad but true) ,most Australian houses have them. Ours has to be the most unattractive laundry room in Australia! 3/4 height ghastly orange tiles & a vomit coloured floor tile.......not a good look! It's also a very dull room, not getting much light.....a work in progress! However, it's a laundry room!
4.Had to go out for a food shop , so cupboards & fridge full of nice ,fresh food. Food is not cheap here, or I certainly don't find it to be. I would get a lot of whoopsied food back home & work around that, however, I make most things from scratch using fresh produce so I suppose I am saving money there. Apples in particular are very expensive here for some reason. We have a lot of horrendous flooding in Queensland at the moment, so crops have been ruined. Food prices will rise again as a result of this. As a country it is self sufficient & doesn't have the need to import as we would in UK. There is also not the same level of competition between supermarkets we had back home, so not as many 'special ' offers of items at ridiculously low prices.
5. However, saying that......got a 1/2 price selection pack of Cadburys chocs.......now chocolate tastes different to back home but still tastes good! sat with feet up & had a 'Boost!' Did I need it, definately not....did I enjoy it, oh yes! So very much a pleasure! Sweets are very expensive here so would think twice about buying them .........however would have been rude not to have bought them at that price!
Enjoy the rest of your day, I have a day of nothing planned, just tidy up (continual!), washing, ironing, making a banana cake ( a gorgeous cake my mum makes, so got recipe this week, will try today & let you know how it was tomorrow!).
There are various events in city for New Year celebrations so we will be doing something tonight.

Hi all
Holidays, nothing to do and busy doing nothing (no, really... hehehe) so not been much online! However, the days still bring pleasures and here are mine for the last two days:
Wednesday
1 - DH went to work but late because it is just a "catch up day" so he did not wake me up at an ungodly hour (for a holiday!).
2 - I took the opportunity (while DH is at work) to catch up with a friend in the morning and we met for a cup of tea and a long overdue chat!
3 - Then I met DH for lunch.
4 - Then I met with my dear OS friend to go to the cinema. She kindly let me have a free entrance. Thank you, you know who you are!
5 - My dear friend also gave me a fav Christmas present, a salt lamp, I always wanted one and now got it! It is going to give a nice glow to my bedroom when I do my relaxation.
Today
1 - I cooked breakfast for the family, spinach omelette and chili beans. Loved by all!
2 - Outing with DH, checking out the sales in the local shops.
3 - Nice healthy lunch of tuna, avocado and various green veg salad.
4 - A friend came visiting and the healthy start of the day got spoiled by numerous cups of tea and mince pies, and stollen cake, too!
5 - DH cooked dinner, last of the brussel sprouts (from the Christmas organic box), stirfried with broccoli, onions and peas, on a bed of basmati rice. Light and delicious.
Hope all of you are well and sending (((HUGS))) to all who need them. Off to watch some more nonsense TV with the family and to finish the chocolate stash before New Year resolutions hit me on the head! Good night all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
A quick five pleasures from me today:
1. Getting the rubbish and recycling collected at last. Thank you to the bin collectors!
2. Watching DIY SOS tonight. I'd followed the story on MSEearlier in the year and had kept the threads bookmarked so dipped in from time to time. Lovely 'feel good' outcome and a real result for MSEers, especially Mike.
3. Finishing off the blue cheese on rice cakes with caramelised onion chutney.:D
4. Doing an absolutely massive shop for non-food items. The plan is not to shop for any non-food stuff again until the end of January (and after that only monthly) and I have overstocked on lots of basics (like cold and flu remedies and stationery for work) so that we could cope for even longer if needed because of bad weather or illness. I re-stocked the emergency food supplies as well. I've been diipping into these while DS2 has been poorly. I am tackling the food shop proper tomorrow all being well.
5. Linked to 4., sorting out the store cupboards a bit more which has also made me feel more organised. With slow, gentle, tiny babysteps, I think I'm getting there - wherever that is!
Sweet dreams

Good morning all. I hope everyone is keeping well and you all had a peaceful Christmas (unfortunately I didn't). Dog woke me up too soon after a very late night. I've been missing for far too long, it's amazing how addictive this thread can be. I will do my very best to catch up with everyones news. I was away the week before Christmas and following that I have been incredibly busy with work and ex's. Anyway I am going to list my pleasures which have come about over the last few months and get back to posting as usual,
1. The amazing support I have received from family and friends (old & new).
2. Feeling that I have been given my life back and being able to live it as I want.
3. The knowledge that I CAN do this on my own.
4. A job I enjoy, a warm house and food on the table.
5. Looking forward to the year ahead.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2011. X0 -
well.......just so you know! 44o heat aint so nice!
I have never been so warm in my life.
1. quite industrious start to day, got all tidied up.
2.Made most delicious but unfortunately more-ish banana cake. Will give recipe if anyone wants it.
3.........and then it got too hot to do anything.......had a lie down & woke up with freakishly frizzy hair.....and I just lay on top of bed & thought I am just too hot! Managed to get up & put air con on!
Anyway, quick tea & we are going to the beach until midnight.......hope to see all the fireworks at city from the beach. Packing up a picnic & off we go ......into the breach of heat!!
have a good day, will be 2011 when I next post, so Happy New Year to you all..........may it be a good one.0 -

Morning, everyone. Hope you're all well this New Year's Eve. Here are my five pleasures for yesterday:
1. Before Christmas we got one of those Mr M vouchers (save the receipts for 5 weeks, get £25 your shopping) and I got the chance to use it yesterday. You had to spend over £40 for it to work, and I managed to get the total to just over £46, so I was well pleased with that. We're stocked up on a few essentials now.
2. Going to a friend's house for a kind of a friends Christmas party. There was a bit of food, some good company and we had a lovely time even though we had to leave early to visit someone else.
3. I was given 2 cookbooks as gifts - one was Jamie's 30 Minute Meals and the other was one using 4 ingredients or lessI had quite a good time reading those late last night.
4. I had a quick go with my chocolate moulds. I need to do a bit more research with these, I think. I melted down some Galaxy and added some raisins that had been soaked in JD. While the mixture turned a bit weird when it was warm it did seem to set OK and turned out of the mould quite nicely. It makes me want to try other variations, like dried pineapple soaked in Malibu then covered in white chocolate. And normal choccies, obviously.
5. Found a recipe via a blog site for some white chocolate-pistachio-Bailey's Fudge. I shall definitely be making that
I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's Eve. Here's to a wonderful 2011. (((hugs)))
