Pam:getting a good night's sleep makes all the difference to your day, from February when we got job offer for Oz until October I only slept for a few hours every night, was often awake at 3am......with everything whirling round my mind. Since we have been here I have slept right through! Well done on your weight loss..........have just done wii fit !0

Hi All, just popping in before bedtime. Update on day with DM.......
5 Pleasures
1. Kept my dignity all day, and did not argue or sulk,or revert to my former teenage self. Unlike DM who had a bit of a sulk because we had to go to Nandos for lunch, rather than Cafe Rouge where she wanted to go. Unfortunately, I had vouchers for Nandos not CR so she had to lump it!
2. Wandered around Liverpool one after lunch. DM gave the children £20 each for Xmas, (She doesn't waste her money on me or DH!), so DD wanted to get some clothes. It was nice having the opportunity to go shopping with her. She got some lovely bargains. We have taught her well! :A
3. I found some shoes and a coat which I bought with my Xmas money from DMil. Looked at the pretty things in Lakeland, but resisted and only bought a calendar.
4. Stopped at IKEA on the way home and used vouchers for more free food! Yay! :money:Only went in for batteries and came out with a coffee table.Curse you IKEA!
5. Laughing and joking with the children over our food in IKEA. I don't remember ever doing that with my parents. We must be doing something right :rotfl:even though our parents disapprove of us!
Broomstick: Thanks for the link to DIY SOS etc. I will definitely be watching. I always cry at the reveal, but felt a bit emotional just reading the thread! Well done to all the MSEers who got the programme interested in his story. :A I love happy endings

Not posted for a couple of days, always seem so tired lately. It's surprising how often I hear that from others lately - wonder if they're putting something in the water
Pam thank you for the link, I'll definitely watch the programme as I lived in Littlehampton for almot 6 years, then returned for a further two years. Won't see much, if any, of the town but it'll be an interesting programme nonetheless.
mhags well done on your achievement, how brave! I have to deal with them now I'm on my own but I'd really, really rather they didn't come to visit
Blimus I do so agree with you, I live in a large village/small town in a very rural location whereas my sister lives in Enfield. I can't for the life of me think why anyone would want to! We're so much more fortunate
house elf we must really all come from the same family, I have a similar prob with my DM. I visited her just before the snow came and even when the UK was wearing a thick white blanket she asked if i was going again before Christmas. I hope I never get that demanding, if I do they can shoot me
kitchenbunny please let me know how you get on with the silicon moulds, I keep thinking of buying them but really need a first hand opinion before I invest
Primrose congrats on not doing the sales. I thought about it but can't justify spending when there's nothing I need, and am too tired atm to traipse round the shops anyway
Ladyhawk you're sensible to go for a week, four days is barely time to get there and back! The boss will just have to wait for you to come back, or manage without you
1. Did some laundry yesterday
2. Spent yesterday with two dear friends who have moved a little way away, had a super time with them as always and they're both excellent cooks so lunch was well up to their usual high standard
3. Spent today with my travelling companion, got her visa photos, filled in all the forms and got them ready for her to send off in the morning. Had a yummy tea with her (she's also a very good cook) before we went to our fellowship meeting. Not much fun taking her home in fog, could barely see the front of the car, but made it there and back in once piece
4. nsd
5. Had a little windfall, very unexpected indeed, from someone who passed away 15 years ago! Shared with the DC and put my share into my savings a/c
Night night, sweet dreams

Here are yesterday's pleasures:
1. The first NSD that I can remember in ages. It probably hasn't been that long, but I'm looking forward to getting more in the New Year.
2. My cross stitch chart book (for my new project) has been despatched. Here's hoping it doesn't take long to get here!
3. DH is showing some more signs of improvement.
4. Watched Batman Begins - I got it for DH for his birthday a few months' back and I always enjoy watching it (and Christian Bale).
5. The woodpecker was back in our garden again. I don't know what woodpeckers eat, but if it's ants I really hope he sticks around as we have a problem with them here.
Well, DH is looking as though he's on the mend, although he has phases of not being on the best of form. We'll switch to a lighter tog duvet tonight to see if it helps with the overly heavy sleeping on my part. We didn't do very much yesterday, except we went for a 3 mile walk which was good to get some fresh air.Not sure what we've got planned today yet, either.
Sparrer - What a nice little windfall.I'll let you know how I get on with the silicone moulds too. I really must get around to using them! I keep saying I will, but things get in the way.
Have a good day, everyone.

Morning
Still catching up on all the posts for the last week but hope everyone had a peaceful christmas and hugs to those who need one at what can be a difficult time.
We arrived back from my parents yesterday after a lovely week spent with them. Pleasures for the last few days in no particular order.
1. Managing to get the train to the North East after all the line closures. It took a bit longer than it should of and a few changes of train that we were not expecting but we got there.
2. Spending time with my family, saw just enough of my brothers that it was nice to see them but not too much that they annoyed me:D
3. Lots of lovely doggy cuddles of my parents westie. He never left my side for the whole time we were there and was always sat on my knee when he thought he could get away with it.
4. Went for a windy and chilly walk on the beach one day. Was lovely to get some fresh air and had a naughty fish and chip lunch.
5. Managed to get DD a couple of sweatshirts in the sale that she loves. Normally about £40 each but were reduced to £19 and buy one get one free:j
6. Getting home and being organised enough that I could throw a dinner together from the freezer with no problems. Plus that breakfast was sorted for today as well. Being OS does have its advantages.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Going to try and chip in here more often, so uplifting and could use it atm!! OH lost his dad day before xmas eve, trying to keep my pecker up so I can support him best I can!
1. New washing machine working a charm... after 4 years of having to kick the maching etc..lol finally.. nearly dry clothes that smell great!! Slowly washing all my clothes
2. Clearing up the house for moving..2 rooms sorted! 2 to go!
3. £10 from my nan, much needed right now... thats my food money til the 21st
4. Lovely new picture of my little sis for home!
5. Whoopsie granary hovis... off in the freezer to last for January! ...pricey at 50p..but lovely none the less!
Have a good day all xxOU Law studentMay Grocery challenge£30/ £110 -
1. My new le cruset casserole pan (xmas present from mum), haven't even used it yet as it's so lovely! Think I will cook a risotto in it tonight. Ah it is just so beautiful!
2. Crocheted my nan a bag for xmas and she absolutley loved it - v. happy to make something so simple and bring so much pleasure
3. Bought a lovely pair of slippers and a knitting needle case in the sales, but was very good and didn't buy any more shoes!!
4. Looking forward to a quiet January now xmas has been and gone, and back to the meal plan!
5. Its a bit early, but we got given some seeds for xmas (purple carrots and round courgettes!) and a fantastic gardening book, so I've been planning the garden transformation for next year and all the veggies we're going to grow! Whooppeeeee!
Hope everyone is having a fab OS day0 -
Afternoon all!
I can't believe I'm being so lazy this holiday  I'd really intended to go out this afternoon, if only for a bit of fresh air, but it's just after 3pm and I've not even got dressed yet. However, today's 5:-
1) Got notification of my pay off from my previous employer :j It means I'm now totally free of that wretched company.
2) Still absorbed watching 'Who do you think you are' Just been watching the athlete Colin Jackson uncovering his roots, finding out he's part Jamaican, part Native American and also part Scottish - totally absorbing programme, that I can highly recommend
3) Have decided I can now afford a new cooker - my present one has been on it's last legs for a long time, and the thermostat isn't reliable. Now trawling various websites and doing price comparisions to get the best deal
4) Sorted out vets appt to get puddy tat's long claws trimmed
5) Decided I shan't bother getting dressed today, and stay in my PJ's and dressing gown
Hope all are well,
Pam x0 -
Evening all,
Hope your penultimate day of 2010 has been a good one.
welcome back  Marmite
Pam - thanks for the "get better soon" vibes for my shoulder. It seems a little better today... so hopefully I am on the mend and it won't be as long term as I thought! I also really enjoy Who Do You Think you are. It's fascinating.
HE - I can't believe that you only escaped Ikea with a coffee table!
Sparrer - WD on the windfall!!!:T:A:T You definitely deserve it!
KB - Glad to hear that you DH is on the mend. Hope the woodpecker is eating all the ants!
Tealady - glad that you got to the NE safely and even better that you got home again
Rebekah - Welcome  how lovely to have a new washing machine! Lucky you.
funkymonkey - Ooooh - lucky you getting a le Cruset casserole dish! What colour did you get? I was looking lovingly at the blue ones yesterday...
1) Booked my flights to Dubai!!!!!!:j:j:j And I got £20 off thanks to the lovely Martin's weekly email.
2) Wandered into town to take some clothes back to Next - so I "made" £62 this afternoon
3) Phone call from my lovely friend L who is just getting over flu and made arrangements for drinks next year
4) Left the office at 4.30 :j Though the last conversation was a supplier demanding a 25% increase... alas he now thoroughly understands that in no uncertain terms that this will not be forthcoming.
5) Got a "new" toaster from someone on freecycle. Mine finally gave up the ghost a couple of days ago and this one will do.
6) Phil and Kirstie's Embarressing Bits... :rotfl:
Night night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
