5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Sorry to hear you have been ill, FrugalPam.
5 for yesterday.
1) Took Santa 2 hours to sort out the stockings in this house as she had been left a full wine glass of sloe gin and had wrapped the stocking fillers in crinkly silver foil then stored them in the airing cupboard (in the boys' room....) in a crinkly plastic bag! Santa had to keep having goes at the stockings because one boy or the other kept waking up. :-S
2) Helping bigger son with his Lego model most of the day.
3) MrN coming round. :-)
4) Went to mum and dad's in the afternoon while sons went for tea with their father.
5) Got what I asked for from my siblings. We always just ask and then buy exactly what we are told so I got: screwdrivers, a bucket, a hammer, a new bathmat and some teaspoons!
Hope everyone has a good day today, don't think we will be doing much.

Hi everyone,
happy belated Christmas. Hope Father Christmas has been good to you. I spent the day with two of my brothers ad one SIL which was pleasant if not particularly exciting.
I went to the sales today at Brent Cross which as all a little manic. But I bought some lovely items that though they were expensive they come from Monsoon, Kew and Banana Republic they were a snip compared to what they normally cost. Plus they should lst a long time.
1) Yummy pancakes for breakfast
2) Nice Christmas presents from my sibs - a badminton racquet, a nice book on preserving, some relaxing bath stuff and a ear warmer thingy for when i go skiing.
3) Spending time with two of my sibs - we don't often see each other so it was good to see them
4) my gorgeous new cashmere coat.... I'm looking on it s an investmet...
5) Playing silly games on my DB's Kinect yesterday. I don't normally participate in computer games but this was fun.
Stay warm

Happy Boxing Day
. Hope everyone got all they wished for and more at Christmas. Sorry to hear some are still poorly, wishing them all well now!
1. Had a good, traditional family day, DD's children are growing and are all well into their teens now so seeing the wonder of little ones opening theirs pressies is over until the next generation comes along. Not yet though, please! DD made a really lovely meal, I had far too much but ate everything on my plate. Lovely DGC looked after grandma beautifully, I didn't need to move all day, not even to wash up as they have a dw. I'd forgotten how useful those things are.
2. Got all I really wanted, money for a lawn mower, a garden clock, garden vouchers so I can buy my patio pear trees...there's a definite theme there, they know me so well
3. Back to normal today, a lunchtime meeting of my fellowship after which we had a wee social afternoon with lots of free laughter
4. A little late but had some Amazon vouchers so got I myself the Annie Lennox Cornucopia cd with free postage. Her voice is so amazing it doesn't have to be Christmas for me to enjoy her singing carols.
5. Watching lots of films, in true OS fashion I don't buy them or go to the cinema cos I know they'll be on television eventually
Stay safe and well

Thanks dundeedoll - and yes, it was my brother who let me down recently.
I'll not go on about the family dynamics on here, but they're just very thoughtless and don't often include me in on things. It's why I wasn't keen to go there at Christmas, and then of course the bad weather intervened making the drive too hazardous. In any event, I would have had to stay in a hotel as there was no room for me !!
It's one of those years I'm afraid where I'm thankful Christmas is over
I suppose I keep hoping they'll change and make me welcome, but it's hard to just let go and get on with things, but I agree I need to get on with my life.
I think the last straw was making sure cards and presents were posted in time for them to receive them for Christmas, and not one of them even bothered to send me a card.
Sorry to go on folks, I feel very sad and very upset today
Roll on the new year and time for me to live life very differently

I was going to say I'm sorry about the family............was it your brother that let you down recently?............or was that someone else? Sorry, but you know what it's like.............remember half the details!
I think as upsetting as it is, all you can do is let them get on with their life, but you get on with yours. Accept that this is how it is and fill your life with other things/people. Difficult.........hurtful..........I know.
I hope you shake that nasty virus off as quick as you got it.
Not nice feeling ill, but even worse on your own.
Not long til your 2nd anniversary (Finally fag free day)
Have another of these............DD x0 -

.... but I did have some pleasures:-
1) Got out today to the sales! Had to hack my way through the ice on my car, but by jove I did it
2) Got quite a few half price goodies from Boots which I'll put by for presents for the coming year
3) Treated myself to an amaryllis - love watching the rate they grow
4) Very thankful for some very good friends, online and in 'real life'
5) Lovely tea - Mr T's best, no doubt full of fat and calories but what the heck
Thanks for the good wishes following my bug and family woes, and it's done me good thinking about the positives in my life :T

Hi all
Happy St Stephen's day!
Sorry to read that so many people are unwell, it seems to be the season of the bug, I am getting better but DH is down with it now, bummer as we missed going out to walk in lovely sunshiney days! Hopefully there will be more good days during the holidays so we can go out walking together.
Christmas was very peaceful and low-key for us and today the kids are out of the way so we are going to have a leftovers (stuffing and mashed sprouts) dinner, which means very little work, then more TV (oh dear, this is the only time of the year when I pass the time plastered in front of the box!).
Dundeedoll, -18 BRRRRR that sounds drastically cold! I am still praying for your friend's son, hoping for a happy resolution.
Pam, poor you re. being so sick during your outing (((HUGS))), and also for feeling let down by your unloving inconsiderate family. As you posted in your earlier post, at least you can choose your friends and you know that we are your friends here. Feel loved and cherished, you deserve it!
Larmy16, sorry for your cold and sore throat, you too, like so many of us got the cyber-bug, we seem to be passing it to each other on this thread! But great to see you online again, I haven't seen you posting here for a while (or was it me being terribly distracted?). Enjoy your holiday and free time!
Kitchenbunny, poor DH, flu (proper) is really nasty, hope he recovers soon, and poor you for being nurse during the holidays. Absolutely LOVED the snowflake moulds!
Frith, glad you had a good Christmas with the boys and it looks from your smiley that things with MrN are still ok - hope they get better and better in the new year! :-)
Ladyhawk, ah the sales...it sounds like you had a good time, even with the crowds and great that you found some good bargains - I am savouring the anticipation of window-shopping in the next few days, until the prices go down to 70% off and then I shall hit the sales with a vengeance! Emma Bridgewater, Hobbs, Rigby & Peller, be afraid, be very afraid! Yahhhyahhhyyyhahhh *scary cackle*
Sparrer, what a good traditional family Christmas day you must have had, how lovely, and how wonderful also that you did not have to do any work, your grandchildren must love you very much!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - A Very Very Long lie-in (up at 1pm!)
2 - So we did not bother with breakfast but I made lunch directly. As I had a lot of leftover smoked salmon (and we were fed up of its "raw" texture and taste) I made a dish of pasta with fried garlic and chilli in olive oil, but at the last minute I added the leftover chopped salmon, the rind and juice of half a lemon and a handful of fresh chopped parsley. It came really delicious, DH loved it.
3 - Peaceful day at home with DH, even if he is not too well he got dressed (he is even wearing the waistcoat I knitted for him - makes him look like Wallace!) and came down to watch afternoon TV with me.
4 - Watched a lovely ghost story for kids, From Time To Time, and ate panettone and drank tea. Very nice and companionable.
5 - Planning a no-work dinner, just leftovers from yesterday and more panettone, tea and chocolate. Ah well, as Scarlet O'Hara said, tomorrow is another day!
Edited to add a sneaky 6 - am about to watch Episode 7 of Edwardian Farm online, which I missed - ahhh Peter, isn't he total eye candy? :-)
Have a great evening everybody, and especially all of you who are not so well, GET WELL NOW! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Happy Boxing Day evening to you all.
Dundeedoll, that's fabulous news about 'Kevin'
Pam, sounds like you could do with extra hugs so here's another from me:
I've had a good couple of days. Here's a handful of the pleasures:
1. Everyone sleeping in to a sensible time on Christmas Day, and waking up when I needed to.
2. Organic smoked salmon and scrambly for Xmas brunch. Then later on, a big green salad with caper berries and mustard dressing, grilled camembert, and raspberry couli. Sounds like a right mix but it's heaven.:D
3. DSs getting me a brilliant practical present that I am delighted about.
4. Lots of laughter and happy boys enjoying their presents. All of us feeling very proud about the lack of non-recyclable rubbish we generated.
5. The tree kindly provided me with lots of surpriselittle presents of useful, and much needed, haberdashery bits and pieces so I spent quite a lot of time sorting out all my sewing stuff.
6. Positive phone calls with the extended family. My parents sounded in particularly good shape.
7. Moving around the dining half of our kitchen today (meant to do it before Xmas day but it got left) It will make things much more sensible and decluttering easier.
8. Watching a lovely programme about sea shanties on iplayer.
