Happy Christmas Eve to All.
I haven't posted for a while as I have been sooo busy at work and home, but sad news of the death of one of my students last night made me want to count my blessings. Christmas will never be the same for that little family........so here I am.
5 for yesterday.
1. All my little family are safe and warm in bed.
2. Presents all bought and mostly wrapped.
3. Made a nice beef stew in the slow cooker which made the house smell lovely all day.
4. Snow still makes everthing look pretty and gave me a reason to wear my Kath Kidston wellies all day!
5. Last hot chocolate in the German market last night.
Looking forward to todays preparations and our traditional Xmas Eve trip to the cinema. Have a lovely day and stay safe.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to ampersand's friend F and also to the family of house elf's student.
Wishing everybody a very happy christmas :xmassign:
1) Had an enjoyable cooking and preparing today. Made a very naughty looking trifle with left-over choc cake pieces, a tin of cherries, black cherry jelly, custard and whipped cream! Also used up the mascarpone from last night's risotto cake (made with lots of help from DS2) and made a mascarpone and lime cheesecake.
2) Saw our postman in town and was able to slip him a happy christmas fiver.
3) The boy's excitement.
4) Won a book from a book review blog :j
5) DH's last minute christmas present of a vintage watch (only bought on Sunday from ebay and not expected before christmas) arrived in the post this morning which was an added bonus.
Happy Christmas everyone :xmassmileDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Mine also.............I cannot begin to imagine how they must be feeling
Also
to everyone else......especially those that are going through their own difficulties.
1) I managed to get to Mr. T's today - 1st time I've been out of the village since last Friday. :j
2) Got 17 reduced items at Mr. T's - mainly rump steak/braising steak/pork chops/mince for £26 :money:
3) One of the families I work for calling round just now with my Christmas prezzie. The best bit of that pleasure tho', was that the little boy - 2 1/2 sang 'Tingle Bells' to me and gave me a BIG kiss and said: 'Merry Kissmas......'cos I love you!' Made me feel quite teary............silly me
4) Loads of candles lit, so nice and cosy in my living room and make me feel not quite so alone.
5) Spoke to my friend earlier and despite 3 visits to the hospital this week, her son with the Hodgkinsons Lymphoma is feeling ok. Thanks again for all your good wishes - I have passed them on.
Wishing everybody a very Happy Christmas :xmassign:Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone. Just thought I'd drop in and post a few pleasures of late. As usual, life has been busy and full of stuff, so here's a few of the good bits:
1. Making homemade sausage rolls. I always mix the sausagemeat with stuffing to make it go further, and I have to say they're rather nice.
2. Making the drive to see my Mum, Dad and Sister before Christmas. Today is Mum's birthday so I felt it only right to go and see her.
3. Watching Ration Book Britain Christmas with DH and us both enjoying it.
4. Manoeuvering out of the driveway onto the road with thick ice on it. I'm not that experienced, so it's a big triumph to me.
5. My traditional Christmas Eve bit of gammon.
Well, this snowy Christmas Eve DH is in bed with 'flu and our plans for tomorrow are scuppered as he can't go anywhere. Bless him, I really feel for him.I'm watching Edwardian Farm and thinking of doing a bit of sewing later. I had planned to do a pork joint and a chicken for tomorrow - cold, as a buffet - but now it won't be needed as it will just be us two. I actually doubt I'll be doing the chicken, so I might do it to freeze.
Merry Christmas, everyone. (((hugs))) to those in need.

I remember when you 1st passed your test..............you have every right to feel very proud!
When I walked to the PO the other day, a lady was stuck trying to pull away...........in 1st gear, revving the engine like mad.
I helped her by digging away some snow and then told her to put it in 2nd and just use the clutch.........s l o w l y........no accelerator.
She was worried it would stall and wouldn't try it, but was happy for me to get in and move it.
Only problem with that was, I moved it for her, then got out and she got in.............then she needed to pull away............into 1st............foot like a brick on accelerator :wall::rotfl:Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

5 for today...
1) Getting a bit of a lie in.
2) Getting plenty of housework done.
3) Trying not to laugh when I saw the boys had been out and scratched through the snow so my car was covered in lots of the word "bum".
4) Lovely meal in my sister's new house with my sons, mum, dad and brother.
5) Chatting to my school friend on the phone.
6) The boys wearing their new Christmas Eve pyjamas (its become a tradition).
Merry Christmas, everyone!
