5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Sadly all self-confidence/ self-esteem has evaporated today (not that there was much to start with) so feeling particularly miserable wondering what on earth I am going to do over Christmas, how I will cope with the boys having to stay away and deciding (with no evidence) that the whole MrN thing is completely one sided and I am being taken for a fool (again) so I might as well end it now before he finds someone more sensible.
Hugs for you. Maybe let it mull over Christmas and make a decision afterwards?
Jumping in to try to do 5...
1. Driving new-to-me car over the snow
2. Got a round of applause from my class when I made it to work
3. Delicious mince pie in the staffroom after school
4. DH not pranging new-to-me car
5. Fire lit.
If I don't get in beforehand, wishing you all a Happy and Blessed Christmas. xxxPlease do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
Evening all.
Frith - huge hugs to you.I hope things take a rapid turn for the better for you and the boys right now.
Caterina - at your email / account situation. I hope that gets tidied up quickly and doesn't cause you problems - fingers crossed! I hope your toilet is fixed by now, too.
Kittikins - I'm glad you're feeling a bit brighter now - your DD's magical medical milkshakes are obviously doing the trick.
marmite - I frogot to say - thanks for the teabread recipe - that sounds scrummy. It's gone in my file of 'really must try one of these days' recipes from the forum.
My pleasures for yesterday (which I didn't post yesterday as my computer was playing silly you-know-whats - after re-booting for the 3rd time in 20 minutes I gave up on the idea ):
1) Short day at work as we went for our team Christmas get-together mid-afternoon.
2) A kind colleague giving me a lift to the get-together so I didn't get drenched en route.
3) A very pleasant couple of hours chatting to my colleagues.
4) I got to the bus stop afterward to find my bus waiting for me, and it left as soon as I sat down - no waiting around.
5) A very un-OS treat of takeaway pizza for dinner.I got BOGOF, though (one to eat, one to freeze for another day) which made it slightly less indulgent. Sort of.
I'm struggling a little for pleasures today as I'm still annoyed with another team who decided to hold their Christmas get-together in the office, rather than going out to a bar or restaurant. I can't fault them on MS grounds, but I felt it wasn't very friendly to those of us who were trying to work around their party. I seemed to be the only one to feel that way, though - my colleagues thought I was really Scroogey for saying I couldn't concentrate with Mistletoe & Wine blasting out two feet from my desk.
I'll have a think, though:
1) I left home to catch the bus to work just as the sun came up over the Solent - it was beautiful enough to take my breath away. (Actually, it might have been the cold doing that!)
2) It's Friday. And only a few more working days until Christmas (just one whole day and two half days for me next week
).
3) A slice of cold pizza when I got home, starving hungry. I think I actually prefer cold pizza to freshly-delivered stuff.
4) HM chilli con carne for dinner. I've abandoned my usual recipe (which is pretty good, if I do say so myself) in favour of a 'throw in what needs using up' approach -I'm betting it's going to be really good, as I'll never be able to recreate it.
5) A quiet night in tonight, before the festive chaos starts in earnest for me.
Have a lovely evening, all - stay safe in all the promised white stuff. :snow_grinBack after a very long break!0 -
Darn it, I spoke too soon, DD and I both appear to have conjunctivitis now!! Looks like a quiet weekend is in order (*sigh* after I had 2 nights out planned and she had sleepovers aka babysitting arranged!!), with lots of milkshakes
Anyway.....
1. Managed to get out and fill the car up with petrol at the cheapest place locally so that we're ready to go away when we're safe to!
2. Watched a snowstorm from a warm sitting room
3. Looked after my lovely friend's (who brought us dinner yesterday) poorly son for a bit this afternoon - let's just hope we've not infected the whole family......
4. Lots of cuddles with DD
5. Helpful advice from out of hours surgery nurse about DD's eyes this evening, thank you NHS!
6. Nice chat with pharmacist this morning who recommended a vitamin tonic for DD - which thankfully, she is enduring without too much complaint!
7. Feeling very relieved that I'm feeling philosophical about my ruined weekend rather than my previous "oh woe is me", thanks NHS for certain medications!!0 -
Evening all
*cough* *sneeze* *splutter*
I am as sick as a dog today. The cold I have been fighting for the past 5 days has finally broken through my defences with a vengance.
We had our departmental communications day yesterday which was good. We had a business update in the morning and in the afternoon the senior team had to do updates on their work in the form of a pantomine. I was dreading it as I am not a natural actress or comedian. I was cast as Sleeping Beauty and in the end it went really well - what a relief to get it over! After that we had our Christmas party which was good fun. Everyone made such an effort with their fancy dress which was great to see.
1) Leaving work at 3pm to come home to bed...
2) Good fun at the Christmas party had by all - i had random people coming up to tell me how lovely I looked - several of whom declared their undying love! Pity none of them was young and eligible!
3) You may recall the big project that I completed recently at work - I got 3 separate rounds of applause for it at the Communication day
4) Found a bottle of champagne on my desk when I got in this morning which was a thank you from one of our charity partners for the above project. I will give this as a Christmas present to someone else because though I love champagne I never seem to have a reason to open a bottle and I wouldn't be able to finish one all by myself.
5) HM soup in the fridge for supper tonight - I really can't face cooking anything tonight so this will be perfect to sooth my aching body.
Night all...
Sleep well
L
PS Caterina :mad::eek:Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Couldn't think of anything over the last few days, shows what a sad article I am, but today:-
1. Finished present buying.
2. Ordered leg of lamb for DS who loves lamb but has problems with his Crohns, settled at the mo.
3. Started knitting a cardi without a pattern, using another one as a guide.
4. Made scrummy pie with left-overs.
5.DS2 said he is nearly debt-free, except for mortgage.0 -
Hugs to all who need them.
Having spent my day off work being very sick (thanks to the woman at work spreading the sickness bug round), I'll try to think positive...
1. Weekend travel plans canceled and I'm relieved as don't feel up to it anyway
2. I got a payrise! A thank you very much, that's much appreciated one (as opposed to an ok ta one)
3. I have monday off work too so no worries about the snow till tuesday.
4. We have food, gas, electricity and so have no reason to even go out!!
5. I feel a bit better now and must have lost weight!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Evening
Ladyhawk and Newlywed - Hope you feel better now
Pleasures for today:
1. As no one had to leave the house early today made bacon muffins for breakfast which went down well
2. Looking at an online advent calendar with DD and it was like she was 5 again not 15
3. Boss bought us all pizza for lunch today, even if when he asked me to order it I had already placed the order. He pays me to think of these things for him:D
4. OH picked me up from work so didn't have to walk home in the snow
5. No more work until next year
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Positive survival vibes to everyone dealing with snow. Hugs to them that need them and treble hugs to Frith - things sound so tough and you really don't deserve all this. I wish I could employ Caterina's milkman to deliver Thorntons chocolates to you. Caterina, how on earth have you managed to get a milkman that delivers chocolates?!
On offer as well!
I'm so jealous. We can't even get a milk delivery here.
Anyway, my five for today:
1. Got the wreath made and stuck up on the front door. The run up to Christmas has started now.
2. Made a phone call I'd been dreading and I've now got a new deadline agreed for some work I have to do. It's a huge weight off my mind. Just have to do the work now!
3. Took a load of rubbish/recycling to the dump. Somehow our collection got missed this week and I wanted the bins cleared before Christmas (and the snow?) messing up regular collection dates.
4. Cleaned the fridge. Sooo good to get that job ticked off.
5. Long phone call catching up with my best friend.
Sleep well, keep warm,

Thanks for all the messages. The boys have gone now (went at 10) and the power is going off at 10.30 for some planned maintenance thing so its going to be very quiet here. And it's snowing. :-(
Anyway, 5 for yesterday.
1) Last day at school so the boys took in cornflake cakes.
2) Went into town and did lots of shopping. Lots of shopping for me entails actually going in to more than one shop so I did quite well!
3) Lovely messages on here and some very sarcastic texts from my friends about the ex...
4) Only one of MrN's sons at home last night so he went swimming with me, my sons and my brother.
5) MrN came round later. :-)0 -
Didn't post yesterday as I just wanted to sleep after a very strange day.
Frith am thinking of you -sounds like Mr N is too, as he's still coming round. try not to do anything rash just now, everything's topsy turvy with visits, the ex, Christmas etc, so perhaps just leave everything else as it is for now rather than add to the pot.
Caterina all I can say is thank heavens you nipped this mess in the bud by doing everything you should, bank, police etc. Hope that's the end of it but if there's anything else you've put everyone in the know and they should be able to stop it.
Wishing everyone well and hoping the poorlies get well now
1. What a fiasco! Went to Sainsbugs, got to the photo machine at 1pm, paid my £5, it took the photos then it said on screen that they weren't suitable for passports (which I don't need). Went to Timpsons kiosk in Sainsbugs, asked if they'd be suitable for visa as they looked less than 2" x 2", he measured them and agreed they were too small for visa but could see nothing wrong with them for passport. He said they do visa ones there for £5.99p, and took the photo. Unfortunately the developing machine had a queue of 240 photos to print before mine. I waited, and waited, went to the loo, wandered round the store, got a bit of shopping, still not ready. Took the shopping to the car, went back and waited another 20 mins before my photos came through. Then the lovely man refused to take any money!! Got home at 3.15pm - 2 1/4 hours without a cuppa and I was suffering withdrawal symptoms
2. DNeighbour insisted I put up some decorations, although I told her there's only me here and I'll be out on Christmas Day. She went to the loft herself and got down the tree and a box of decs for me
3. DNeighbours DD came for the evening while her Mum went to a staff do. LO helped put up and decorate the tree, which looks really pretty, so I'm pleased her Mum [STRIKE]bullied [/STRIKE]talked me into doing it
4. Listening to News 24, I had to laugh - there were weather reports from Scotland, N Ireland, Wales, the North, the South West, the East, Central and London, it just reminded me of the voting in the Eurovision song contest. I did think 24 minutes of 'headline' news being the weather was a little excessive though, after all it does snow every winter. Am very thankful for my 'allowance' from the gov., so I don't have to worry too much about keeping warm.
5. Got to bed at 2am and slept though til 10am, had whoopsied croissants and hm blackberry jam for breakfast
Stay warm and stay safe
