5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. DD is looking a bit better now, hate having to fight with her to get the eyedrops in, so I told her about my beloved old cat who needed drops and how he soon got used to it and was lovely and hey, if a !!!!!cat can be sensible, surely she can too.........I'll see how I get on in the morning, but hopefully only need to put a few more doses in before she's 100%.
2. If only I could say the same about myself, still feel really gruesome and am coughing fit to burst, grrr. Oh well, at least I'm being well looked after by DD
3. My new hiking poles are fabulous (bought during the last snow), walked out with DD back to pick up a missing hat this afternoon and felt far more confident
4. Sounds like I missed a great night out last night, but seeing how slippery it is on the pavements, I'm glad I didn't have to negotiate the walk home after a couple of glasses of vino....well, that's what I'm telling myself....*sigh*
5. Very bargainous choccy muffins and bread rolls in village supermarket.
6. Stopped off at the pub to hear a friend sing for a bit, lots of Christmas favouritesLots of children singing along, DD was too shy for the microphone but sang to me, which is good enough
7. I've started tidying/getting things ready for our trip away, only a bit though, don't want to push myself, or at least that's today's excuse0 -
Hi everyone :santa2:
Sorry to be so absent and thanks for your message DD!
It's been a case of the winter blues, plus bronchitis, and becoming stir crazy stuck in the house unable to drive out of my Close because of inches of frozen snow  Not been a happy bunny recently.
From a quick read through, I can see a few folk have been poorly and had woes, and I really hope everyone starts to pick up soon.
I couldn't think of any good things, but must be feeling a bit brighter now as a few have come to mind :-
1) Fortunately had kept the storecupboard stocked up with the essentials and a freezer full of food
2) Have no longer got to face a 15 mile journey to work in this bad weather and can get up when I feel like it
3) Lovely neighbours came round today, worried they hadn't seen me pottering round, and offered to do any shopping I needed, or fix anything that needed fixing (the hubby is a really good DIY'er and has helped me out in the past)
4) Enjoying my new luxury duvet :j:j It's incredibly warm but very lightweight and it's MINE all MINE as there isn't an OH at present to fight me for it
5) Now this sounds awful - bear with me - but the bad weather may well prevent me from doing the 3 hour drive to stay with family for Xmas. In small doses they are fine, but 2 or more days with them.........:eek: I got snowed in there one winter and couldn't escape for about 6 days.
take care everyone, and keep safe and warm,
Pam x0 -

You're very welcome, Pam

Yep, same as me, going to be -12C here again tonight, so defo won't get out tomorrow. Nice as it will be to probably have most of the week off, it means I won't be earning any money (as well as Xmas week):eek:
4) Enjoying my new luxury duvet :j:j It's incredibly warm but very lightweight and it's MINE all MINE as there isn't an OH at present to fight me for it
DITTO..........my duck down quilt as well as my memory foam mattress is soooo cosy

I understand that totally............:rotfl:
take care everyone, and keep safe and warm,

Think I might go through the TV times and see what I fancy watching on TV over Xmas - am usually subject to awful films, music blaring from upstairs, children crying and adults arguing. Yes, this weather is awful but it does have it's upside5) Now this sounds awful - bear with me - but the bad weather may well prevent me from doing the 3 hour drive to stay with family for Xmas. Board games - Trivial Pursuit etc with MrN and one son.
5 for today.
1) Had a massive lie in - first weekend the boys have spent with their father for 2 years. Can't say I'm in favour of it but.... waking up at 11.30am!!!! :-D
2) Mum and dad's for lunch. Walked half way as the roads were impassable. (sp?)
3) Got picked up on the main road by MrN and went round for a cup of tea.
4) Got on top of all housework.
5) Boys came back, safe, well and tired enough to go to sleep promptly with younger son in his own bed! (Has been in mine too much recently).
6) MrN came round. :-)0 -
Frith, huge well done for getting through this weekend (and finding the positive in things)! Ampersand, I've sent loving thoughts to your friend - that's such a massive thing to be dealing with.
My five for Sunday:
1. A NSD - infact I haven't even opened the front door.:D The snow continues to look beautiful from the warm side of the window!
2. Got the sewing machine set up in a tiny corner of my bedroom so at least I can now leave it up while I catch up on all the machine projects I need to do.
3. Made on-the-spur-of-the-moment chocolate cake.
4. More time talking with DS1.
5. Knitted lots more sock, remembered that I wanted to look up Shetland knitting belts (which I did) and got distracted by speed-knitting films on Youtube which led me to this which is a combination of 'extraordinary', 'incredibly beautiful' and 'what a waste of wool'!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVRfVEONxJQ&feature=related
I think I count it as a pleasure though because it made me think 'wow'.:D
Sweet dreams

Edited because curiosity got the better of me - I opened the door and stuck the thermometer outside for ten minutes. It's -14. (Wraps fleece blanket tighter around herself and decides to go to bed)

Frith I echo Ladyhawks comment...boardgames? Oh, just caught up with your next post, Trivial Pursuit is fun. Pleased Mr N picked you up as it's too cold to walk far, and good to hear the boys arrived back safely
Ampersand your friend, F, and her son are in my thoughts and prayers
Kitchenbunny the pinwheels sound so good, you are clever to think up things like that. Drive carefully, please
Primrose I do agree, nothing takes the place of carols. So pleased you enjoyed the service
Minette pleased your little mog has taken the leap of faith into your lap. The mention of raclette makes my mouth water, I'm an avid cooked cheese fan.
dundeedoll the village hall sounds so pretty. Did you enjoy the film? Thought it was great but could be the fact Meryl Streep was in it. My thoughts and prayers with your friend and her son
newlywed congrats on cleaning your cooker, what a task - one I only tackle once in a blue moon.
CCP what a lovely picture you painted of your trip to the farmers market. Did you see Michael Whitaker? What a ride, shows the old 'uns are best
Blimus sounds like a successful day all round. So pleased you made the journey safely.
Ladyhawk pleased you're on the mend, don't go out in the cold for ingredients and set yourself back. Congrats on fixing your heating, which of course you did without the need of a man
Kittikins what a good idea the hiking poles are, it must make walking in this horrid stuff much easier and safer. Pleased your DD is on the mend now
Pam like you I appreciate what it's like to have kind neighbours. Had to laugh at your new duvet, I have a whole king sized bed for little 5ft nothing me, but never stray from my small corner. I know what you mean though, it's good just not having to share
Broomstick I agree about the outside looking best from inside. Had a look at your link, good grief, how do they do that? It takes me 5 minutes to cast on 30 stitches!
Again don't know if I'll make 5, this horrible weather has put a stop to everything. I know I should count my blessings but all my meetings, trips out etc are cancelled and I'm heartily sick of being indoors. Would love to just go outside to the garden but I can't so no good whinging. My car makes me smile though, it looks like a giant marshmallow
1. Lie-in til 9.30am
2. put a chicken casserole in the sc
3. DNeighbour came round to ask if there was anything I needed from Mr T. Told her nothing for me but to get her Chrissie present as I don't know when I'll be able to go out. She came back with a nice set of towels to match her newly decorated bathroom. It was cheaper than she'd thought so I told her get herself a bottle of wine with the change
4. Was going to met DD and DGD2 for lunch but had to cancel so I'm going to tuck up on the sofa with a rug and a Bill Bryson I haven't read yet. We still have the lunch to look forward to, so that's a positive
Night night, sweet dreams and please take care if you need to go out

Hi, I had done a list of yesterday's pleasures but they disappeared before I posted! How annoying! Anyway, they went along the lines of ,it was a much cooler day & we had to shut all windows & doors, then the curtains were closed,Christmas candles went on, sat on sofa & watched a Midsomer Murder Christmas special(from yonks ago!) with blankets on knees......perfect! I felt festive for first time!
Todays:
1. 1st day of school holidays for everyone ! We all had a long lie .
2.I had a long ,soaky bath which was lovely! Because of water restrictions we usually only have 4 minute showers, however we have had so much rain the drought has ended. It wasn't a deep bath but it was lovely & warm & nice to relax in with a book!
3. All up to date again with housework , got 2 loads of washing dried & ironed, washed all the floors, cleaned bathrooms etc. My lovely kids were roped in.......or bribed with candy canes!
4. Got a lovely card from one of my best friends back home. I had phoned her last night & chatted for 20 minutes, she'd asked if I'd received her card yet......so now I have & it had a beautiful photo of her beautiful daughter in it. Our postie comes on a motor scooter,up the pavements! We have mail boxes at the bottom of our gardens & postie puts letters in there....so I have to listen out for the motor scooter coming mid afternoon!
5.been another cool day, actually have long trousers & long sleeved top on! Makes a nice change from vest tops & shorts! Ha! I know a lot of you are freezing (literally!) and would welcome our heat but it's quite a pleasant change from constant heat!
Good wishes to all of you in the final week before Christmas. Stay warm & keep safe!0 -
Flying visit - and thankyou all for your thoughts for F and son, T. They propel me here as I am anxious re: no rtn contact and have just spoken with perceptive mgr of Acorn House to leave all details again. We think high filters and blocks are responsible.
F is in Court all day today.
1. Fluke mtg with L. - I was en route to her - in their village Co-op yesterday. 'I have sprouts for you' was my greeting[had bought them and ultra-designer sandwiches massively reduced in Waitrose. £4 for a sandwich??? - 19p is better, esp. for wild crayfish etc. She feeds a household of student grandsons, children and their many constant friends/droppers in] Back for cuppytease -so welcome - and v. good talk. We also demolished the sproncey free biccies which came courtesy of Sat's DT freebie offer - Seriously Triple Choc. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
2. Raspberry jam, cherry conserve[finally bit the bullet and bought the brandy], lime marmalade done last night/this a.m. Potage flamande for charity tomorrow[more reduced sprouts] and thousands more orange peels to choc-dip, peanut butter and tea loaves still to do, or complete.
3. Even more amazing - I'd written of picking up M's clock 2 days ago. Last night, I found her 1st ever em to me!!! Still can't believe it - over the years and years I have taught M to use sewing machine, knit, crochet, umpteen other things[part of a promise to her late maman]but all accommodations with computer, most recently earlier this year, have so far failed.
BUT NOT NOW. I AM OVERJOYED. We will have our usual imbibed-style lunch down in the usual bar and eat well in the restaurant attached, ?celebrate? my being a year older, both of us recalling our 1st babes born 3 mths apart under a Mediterranean sun and sky and our new Mummy early times together. M is still there in the Var - I am still there in my head and heart, along with Cathar country, next week again.
4. My jam-filling gizmo, made by cutting a 1-litre milk container in half, then placing it inverted over the jar - works perfectly.
5. Made it to gym again, doing the usual white frozen world trek[which, it is not difficult to discern, gives me the worst sort of smug little virtue glow when posted here]- it really surprises me that I am sticking to this still.
6. Final burst of ebay posting today - all ended last night - and satisfactorily indeed.
Sending warmth, love, fellow-feeling and care to all...as I listen to a particularly enjoyable Woman's Hour, having only realised this morning that I didn't put tv on yesterday and have AR on i-player[and Eddie Izzard] to much look forward to.

Hi all,
Well here's mine so far:
1. Being ill means I've lost a bit of weight and have used it as an opportunity to reduce my ever increasing portion sizes
2. Having a day off and a lovely long lay in today.
3. Bacon and eggs for brekkie as a treat.
4. Lunch out and a wander round the shops with OH.
5. Buying a lovely wallis beaded evening skirt.... for £7.50 - I love charity shops!! just needs a few threads sewn back in.
6. Buying nothing else - coz all the "normal" shops were too expensive and the only black boots I liked (half price in Clarkes sale) OH hated. So a cheap day shoppingworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
