Hugs to all who need them
Pleasures for the last couple of days

3. HM Mcdonalds style sausage muffins for breakfast yesterday.
4. Buying some boots today in the clarks sale. I was going to buy some cheap ones in another shop but decided to look around, so glad I did as these are much better quality and are the same price
5. Took a few things back today so some money back into the account
6. All presents now wrapped just need to deliver them to everyone
7. No work today, did pop into the office to pick some things up I had left there but got our quickly so didn't get roped into doing anything.0 -
Hi all
Fairly quick visit as family members are clamouring for attention.
Thank you everybody for support re. weird impersonation of me and also for supermarket mistreatment issue.
Hugs to all who need them and any of you who is unwell, get well NOW!
Ladyhawk, Nonnymouse is a forum that some OS members have founded to give a hand to people who are in a bit of a pickle or who are having difficulties in their daily life. I do not know the full ins and outs of how it began because I have joined well after its beginnings, but there must be some Nonnymouse Member here in this forum that can explain better!
Gratefulforhelp you have hit the nail on the head, they issue vouchers and then treat you as you are stealing when you go to redeem them! Part of this is due, as the manager pointed out, to lack of training, but IMHO some of it is due to low IQ of some staff - fancy going by the picture on the voucher instead of what is written in it, go figure!
Here are my pleasures for the last two days:
Sunday:
1 - Lovely breakfast with DH (not in bed because in a hurry, see point 2) of fried egg, leftover fruit compote from last night and leftover HM mince pie (made by my friend, not me!).
2 - Allotment Christmas party, we all brought something and stood in the snowy allotment where the allotment secretary had rigged up a couple of tables with food and drink goodies from everybody, but also a portable wood burner (Chimenea) and two camping stoves on which he cooked hot dogs for everybody, also for the veggie ones (only me and DH!). In fact two of the people there are so NON VEGGIE, they are two professional chefs and they were discussing the best way to kill a lobster *ARGHHHHHH*! But apart from the gruesome talk, we all had a glorious, if very cold, time!
3 - Together with DH, visit to an old lady friend who unfortunately we found has gone a bit downhill with dementia, but she loved our visit and the chocolates we brought her as a Christmas gift. She invited us to go and see her again between Christmas and New Year.
4 - We went on to visit another local lady, this one Italian and we had a good laugh (DH looked on without understanding half of what we said and why we were laughing so much!). We agreed to meet soon to make homemade pasta, or gnocchi.
5 - Stella won the Apprentice. My kids got me hooked on it, even though normally I detest reality shows, but it was good to see the pleasant, level-headed older (compared to the others) woman win, rather than a younger pushy male whippersnapper!
Today:
1 - Wholefood bulk delivery came in and when I did the accounts (to share payment with the other buyers) the sums were right first time!
2 - A friend came for a cup of tea and we exchanged Christmas presents. She insisted on opening hers and really liked what I had got her (personalised gift of Rococo chocolates in the flavours that she loves most: sea salt, Earl Grey and chilli). I have put her gift under our tree and will open it at Christmas.
3 - I have made very good inroad in tidying up the paperwork that needed filing since the end of 2009! Not completely in hand but getting there. Planning to have all of 2010 filed away before 2011 starts.
4 - Another friend popped in, an Italian lady who lives locally but that I haven't seen for ages, she brought me a gift of Pandoro (an Italian Christmas cake). We decided to celebrate in advance and opened it for a slice - well worth it, was yummy.
5 - DD is cooking tonight, it will be roast veg with vegeburgers and a salad.
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all - hope you are keeping safe, well and warm. Hugs to those who need them.
Mine from today:
1) A fantastic time at the home-ed christmas party. Great adult and child company and good food.
2) The snowy and foggy landscapes were amazing today - like something out of Narnia. And then the full moon on the sea on the way home was, as ever, breathtaking.
3) DS2's infectious excitement at seeing the new Primeval series is coming soon. I sent away some time ago for an autographed pic of his favourite Abbey Maitland (Hannah Spearritt) - hope it gets here soon.
4) DS1 received his first review copy of a book to review for the publishers. Hope this will be a regular occurence. Free books and experience!
5) Managed to save a few 'Nigella's salty and sweet chocs' back that I had made for christmas presents. Yumm!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Evening all...
I've had a bit of a wasted day... I traipsed down to London for a meeting (which I checked was going ahead first thing) only to find out that it has been postponed...ggggrrrrr!) Then my laptop died so I couldn't do any work so I came home again.
1) Made scones to take to London with me for my lovely colleagues down there to have with some HM jam I also took.
2) Had my PR photo's taken while I was down there. We had a bit of a giggle as I ended up having to go and buy a new crisp white shirt to be photographed in. While I was in M& S I ran into our HR director and Trading Controller!! I think I managed to get away with it though as they shouldn't have been there either!
3) Got to the train station as my train was pulling in. Most of them had been cancelled so his really was a relief as they were only running hourly and it was FREEZING at -8C!
4) Am making Ampersand's candied peel as I type. It smells a little odd but am sure it will be fine...
5) Chatting to my gorgeous Canadian friend on FB. I have always assumed that he is gay but I am not sure. We were at univsersity together when I studid in Canada.
I had better sign off and go and ice my ginger bread teddy bears and Christmas trees,
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Sparrer Yes, the film was a nice couple of hours of diversion and one of those that makes you laugh.
Although I laughed most in the toilets I think, picture the scene.........2 cubicles, both being used (by ladies in their advancing years as it turned out)
'Are you enjoying the film?' from cubicle 1 - think North Cotswold country accent rather than Central Cotswold 'We live in The Cotswolds, daaarrrling'
'Not really, but then I don't enjoy s e x' from cubicle 2 in the same country farmer accent.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Not saying there's anything wrong with accents, just setting the scene.............
BTW my absolute favourite laugh out loud film is 'Keeping Mum' - I've watched it at least 10 times and have laughed all through it every time. (Kristin Scott-Thomas is brilliant in it - as well as so so beautiful)
1) No chance of even attempting to get to work, so a little lie in until 8.30am
2) A lovely couple of miles walk to the village shop, it was sooo cold tho' at -12C.
3) Scottie's large porridge oats on offer in shop so bought a box for brekkies & Twink's Hob Nobs. I made some porridge with 1/2 water 1/2 skimmed milk, a tsp of Mr M's cinnamon paste and then a grated apple + a tsp of dem sugar on top. It was lovely and I thought of Caterina as I made it (she once commented on my porridge...see below)I posted 1 of my 5 OS pleasures being having porridge with brown sugar and cinnamon 1 day..............Caterina replied:Edited to say: madam, I am shocked! You take porridge with BROWN SUGAR AND CINNAMON? I thought you were Scottish and as such you would only have porridge with top of the milk and a pinch of salt (or at least this is what I had to endure during my first marriage to a Scot - it took me many years to be able to eat porridge with sugar and cinnamon, delicious, without feeling that I "ought to have it salty"!) tut, tut....To which my answer was:RE porridge................I can do exactly what I want.........I'm a single girlie(I'm not scottish either )
4) No need to drive into town as I could see it on Sky News all day :rotfl:
More snow overnight, down to -15C overnight.........chaos on roads etc etc They were there reporting on it all.
5) A surprise text from a lovely caring person just to see if I'm ok. Nice to be thought of, isn't it
6) Found the cat :j I hadn't seen her and wasn't sure if she'd gone out, so I went out and was calling her. NOTHING! It's so cold and I was worried about her. Went out again looking for her for about 1/2 hour. Still no sight of herCame back in to defrost...........out of the corner of my eye I saw an inch of 'tail' sticking out of my ironing basket :rotfl:

Just a tip for posters............I have found that if I do a longish post that it must 'time me out' as when I press submit it goes to the sign in page and then of course the typed post is lost
A few of you have mentioned losing posts..................right click on post, select all, right click, copy, before pressing the submit button (and a good idea to do it throughout as writing a post)............voila!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Thank you Ampersand, I shall go and have a look now if I can retrieve it on the PC!
Edited to add, DID and listening now as I am typing! Thanks again!
Re-edited to say: ohhh the accent of the Italian guy speaking English is cracking me up! I hope I do not sound like that LOL!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
This is really just a quick pop in to say hello and I hope you're all OK - I've had a day that's reminded me that it might be the last Monday before Christmas, but it's still a Monday. (The office security system has been playing up and locked me out of the office - twice; it looks like I won't see my sister before Christmas (although that means it's not the end of the world that her present still hasn't turned up); and the casserole I made for dinner boiled over in the oven so I'll have to clean it tomorrow.:mad::mad: (And now I've lost the cursor on my pooter, which is making typing this post a bit tricky!))
I'll try for some pleasures, though:
1) Pretty snow, and then it melted.
2) Wore my new fake fur cardi to work, where it was greatly admired. (I'll like it more when it's stopped shedding fur in my food, drink, eyes, mouth...)
3) Watched the Hairy Bikers' Christmas special on iplayer, as I was out last night.
4) Half day at work tomorrow, as it's the office Christmas lunch.
I can't think of a fifth one, but 4 will do me for today. Have a pleasant evening all - stay safe in the snow / ice / general unpleasant winteriness.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening everyone:santa2:
Another freezing cold day here (like pretty much everwhere in the UK). After 3 days stuck in the house I decided to brave it out - the sky was clear, the sun was out, and the snow was all twinkly and prettyI needed to go to the post box as I needed to post a couple of cards (there's always a couple I seem to forget).
Some of todays pleasures:-
1) The third NSD
2) Loving how pretty the snow is. Mind you, that's because I don't have to face driving it to go to work
3) Christened my new spotty wellies :rotfl: I may be the wrong side of 50 but have no problem wearing them and they're so much nicer than boring green or black ones.
4) The last of my winter cold (which turned to bronchitis) is finally clearing up
5) Plan to get out tomorrow - don't need anything really, but will go down to the big Tesco and have a root round. Bus there, and a taxi back (treat to myself, seeing as Ive spent nothing nor used petrol in days)
6) Nice chats with various neighbours as I delivered Xmas cards
Hope everyone's safe and warm, and any under the weather feel better soon,
Pam x0
