Good morning all. dundeedoll, glad you are feeling much better. Didn't post yesterday as I was just so exhausted through not sleeping very well, but after sleeping for 7 hours last night only briefly interupted by a car alarm, I am feeling so much better. My five for yesterday,
1. One of my clients who is very poorly seemed much brighter and was able to have a conversation.
2. Funny and lovely text messages from a certain someone.
3. I was going to have a small sleep in the afternoon when I was woken by the postman. An amazing person and wonderful friend had sent me some goodies to help me sleep. I have never known such kindness. I have to admit I didn't use them last night, as I think just knowing someone really cares was like a relief in itself and enabled such a good, relaxing sleep.
4. My daughters school christmas concert.
5. Just a general feeling of happiness within myself.
Have a great day. Love to all. X0 -

Morning
Dundeedoll - Glad your migrane has cleared and you are feeling much better
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Email off boss thanking the project team for all our hard work and saying we could claim for a dinner for 2 on our expenses as a thank you. Something to look forward to in the new year.
2. Travel voucher off BA for £50 as an apolgy for the 7 1/2 hours spent in Manchester airport a couple of weeks ago. As we are looking at a weekend away next year this will come in handy.
3. More presents wrapped, getting there slowly
4. Big pile of ironing done just need to do a bit more this morning and basket should be empty well until tomorrow anyway
5. Things have been a little frosty between myself and OH for a couple of days but the air seemed to clear a bit yesterday.
Hugs to all who need them0 -

Thanks beachbaby..........I always know they'll pass, but feel like hell when I actually have them.

Good, as you need to be warm and cuddly, not frosty a) 'cos it's going to be cold enough and b) after your 'news' the other day you need each other more than ever for support.

morning all ,
can I make 5 good things?mmmmmm.....woke up to a spider on the bedroom wall. Much freaking out from me! Where did it come from & where had it been hiding whilst I searched the room before bed last night......my new nightly routine! Anyway, I dealt with it but not a great start to day! I detest them!
1. was a 'parent helper' at dd2's end of year trip to 10 pin bowling, so long hilly walk to school (I know you know......pretty flowers & lovely birds.....but it does make me happy to see it all!)
2. sat in staff room for an hour as there was no point in walking home to just go straight back out again. So I took a book for company but got chatting to one of the classroom assistants which was nice!
3.walked to 10 pin bowling, took about 15 minutes to get there....with only 1 low incline!
Kids were there for nearly 3 hours and all had fun. I sat with c'room assistant & had a really nice chat with her about everything really.....told her I was trying to find 5 good things in my day!
4.walked back to school & then had to hike home.......this I struggled with as it was hot and I was crabbit as I knew I would have to come back out in an hour and it would still be hot. Does this count as a pleasure ....hmmm but pretty flowers were there & the birdies!
5.my husband came home from a few days away at work late last night so nice to see him:)
6.went to library for more books!
cheats caramel shortcake was in one of the asda magazines in the summer.
So roughly : 1 packet of shortbread blitzed to crumbs, melt butter & mix. Place in base of dish & chill. Use a tin of caramelised condensed milk (know what I mean) place on top of chilled biscuit. Chill. Melt cooking chocolate on top of caramel & chill....eat !
have a good day, Mhags0 -
Thanks bb - space made.
1. Just back from gym - bitter driving wind this morning.
2. Rubbish out - do dementia man's too as so-called carer is a main chancer/hard piece of work to me[has abused me verbally and 'troubled' my car, to my continuing astonishment - a bizarre episode - feel very, very wary of her.] I hand wash some of his lovely lambswool and cashmere jumpers too, when I can. It's been v. noticeable, this decline in care.
3. Birds fed.
4. 20-odd jars of long ood seafood sauce, free thus, have had labels soaked off ready for re-use at some point in the extra 3>17[insert number as required] days I'm creating between now and Sunday.
5. Not sure how, but found lost gas oven lighter in bottom of washing up...after 2 days of drying in h/w cupboard, it works again!
6. Another 5p and 1p for you, reverbe.
7. A misunderstanding aired and cleared.
8. Skyped D in NZ before surgery.
and Skype msg has just popped up, saying, in part 'I am fine...'
9. Cricket through night and now - Oz just all out!
10. Ordered Series 3 of Hunger for the Wild>France - again by skype, which was so easy and pleasurable, when online process had sulks. Nice NZ lady who remembered same process from 3 years back. She enclosed shell, driftwood and Mackintosh lollies in a little goodie bag I recall - they still do.
11. I have just realised I have been bad - better find out if it's critical. Some med tests and various today so had religiously had nothing since last night, not even tabs[as advised]and - back from gym - feeling flaky, just went ahead and had brekkers, without thinking....eeeks.
ShopEnZed - if anyone needs to know:
http://www.shopenzed.com/
and I have found the music I love from the series here:
http://vimeo.com/3613037
more on youtube.
The Bads - they are terrific. Have a CD, found from USA for 24cents, as I recall.
All wonderful words/music.

So today, I'm taking them with me; let load shared = load spread.
Bless all here and Martin for making it all possible[and doubtless unrecognisable from initial conception, but magnificently so.]

Hi all
Not posted for a couple of busy days but here I am back.
I am feeling a bit shaken on two accounts, one is that there is water dripping from the kitchen ceiling, right on the lightbulb. The plumber came and found that something had been moved in the upstairs toilet and has caused this to happen, so he will have to take the toilet out and fix the leak - bummer! I know what happened, yesterday the chain was not flushing properly and DD's BF fiddled with the tank - good of him for trying to help, but he caused more damage (and expense!) than if he had left it and we had called the plumber to fix that!
The second, more sinister thing that has really shaken me is that I have discovered that someone is using my email address to send me things, there was something today in the post that I have never ordered and had to call them and cancel the direct debit (but this was not even my bank account - very strange, bizarre situation). I hope to resolve this thing as soon as possible.
CCP I wish I had remembered that you live in Portsmouth, I would have PM'd you and we could have met! Next time I am going there with DH (perhaps in January) so no meet then (he wants to spend the day with me) but at that price it is cheaper to go to Portsmouth for me than to go to the King's Road, so we can do it another time!
Sparrer, re. panettone, I had the Lidl one before (not this year though) and it was perfectly ok. This year I bought some from Approved Food, it is also nice enough, if a bit dry. Lidl one is cheaper, £3.99 I think, and the AF one £4.99. The "brand" ones are worth buying AFTER Christmas. Don't forget that stale panettone makes a beautiful trifle base!
Here are my pleasures for the last few days:
Tuesday:
1 - Nearly missed my trip to the Portsmouth outlet because of train delays from my station, but my friend and I decided to try getting there by bus and tube and we made it just in time!
2 - Decided to have an early lunch to avoid crowds and we ate at the Loch Fyne restaurant (set menu) a bit more expensive than we expected but it was a great meal, such a treat!
3 - Good day altogether, wandering around the shops and chatting with my friend.
4 - Found gifts for a friend's kids which I had meant to get for a while and had not got around to. Lovely and very cheap.
5 - Managed to resist HOBBS!!! I spent a good hour+ in there, looking at all the great clothes, reduced by 70%, they had my size in most items, all those tweed dresses, plaid skirts, wonderful knitwear... but I resisted and feel very proud of myself for this. I really really do not NEED any clothes at the moment.
Wednesday
1 - Easy start of the day, no rush to get anywhere too early, so a bit of a lie-in.
2 - Lunch with my (ex) colleagues, office Christmas party, paid for by the organisation. Lovely food and we had a really good time!
3 - I did not get a farewell present because I shall be temping there, I feel really relieved about this because it would have been very embarrassing to be given a farewell gift and then turn up again in January!
4 - Went back to the office with a few colleagues, just because one of the directors had to go back there, so we took advantage to sit in the boardroom and have a free cup of tea (instead of going to a cafe as previously planned!).
5 - Back home, got ready and then went with DH to an evening party for volunteersat the organisation I have been doing some volunteering. NIce people, lovely buffet.
Today:
1 - Scrambled eggs with onion and chilli breakfast, with DD and DS
2 - The plumber found that the leak is in the back of the toilet and not a burst pipe - still not the best of situations but at least it is relatively simple to fix, no need to lift floorboards!
3 - Bought DS a sonicare toothbrush on Amazon (as recommended by his dentist) and also spare heads so we can all use it. Got it via a points collection site and was also reduced by more than 50%.
4 - Managed to put a bulk food order with a few other people, will get it before Christmas so I shall be well stocked up for the winter.
5 - As I am not allowed to switch on the lights in the kitchen today (need to let the cables dry until tomorrow) I am planning to cook a few things by candle-light, ahhh romantic!
Good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
