    Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

    Tealady - I'm sorry you've had such a rough few days. Hugs to you, and I hope things don't turn out as bad as they look at the moment.

    kiwiblue - :hello: I obviously joined this thread after you'd left, so I'll say 'nice to meet you' rather than 'welcome back'. :)

    mhagster - welcome to the thread. May you have many pleasures to post from your new home.

    Broomstick - I know exactly what you mean about remembering then forgetting pleasures to post - I do that nearly every day. :o I often remember one or more some time after posting, which is always frustrating!

    dundeedoll - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's son - my thoughts are with him and his family.

    I've had a rather lazy day today, but I'm sure I can think of some pleasures amongst the laziness. :o

    1) Lie in this morning, to make up for the cat waking me at 4.15am for breakfast. :huh: (He didn't get any, needless to say.)

    2) Did a bit of tidying up in the garden, cutting off dead stems and the like.

    3) Had a nice chat to my mum on the phone, as a result of which I now think I know what I'm going to get her for Christmas. :j

    4) Watched the last part of the TV series about the high street, thanks to iplayer. (ampersand - I quite agree with you - iplayer is a truly wonderous invention. :))

    5) I forgot to take the bacon joint out of the freezer yesterday :doh: so it hasn't defrosted in time for tonight's dinner. :mad: Luckily I've got a few HM ready meals in the freezer so I won't have to go hungry - it's lamb hotpot for dinner now. :o:)

    Have a nice evening, all.
    Back after a very long break!
  • Hi all!

    Its been a nice weeked here. So glad the snow has gone!
    Work is still a nightmare but I need to grin and bear it. I am taking a grievence agains my manager so I need to build up to it and be brave. I just dont like being taken for a fool! Anyway, I wont bother you all with the long boring story!

    My pleasures for today are;

    1. Pre-xmas meal with the in-laws
    2. A cozy afternoon watching Toy Story 3 with my little neice and nephew all snuggled up under a blanket!
    3. A nice homemade tray of rocky road slices.
    4.The very last of th Christmas purchases made.
    5. My first xmas present arrived today!! :)
    6. Had no heating on all day Saturday
    7. 2 loads of washing done and dried
    8. The snow and ice has finaly thawed! Hooray!

    xx

    Evening all -

    I think that I may have finally succumbed to a cold... my chest and throat are feeling a little raw :(

    1) Badminton this morning - good session. I had to laugh though when one of the men said to me - "Wow - after 3 sessions you're really good" which he then followed with "But your serving is rubbish!"

    2) Went shopping for my Pots of Gold and Secret Santa presents. Annoyingly I got back to my car I found I had a parking ticket... grrrrrrrr! My own fault. Made even more annoying by the fact that I just dawdled back to the car and the parking attendant was standing by my car so if only I had got back 5 minutes earlier. The pleasure is that I reacted calmly about it as there is nothing I could do about it.

    3) Snooze on the sofa this afternoon with the kitty.

    4) Chatting to my mum on the phone

    5) CDWM

    Night all

    L

    Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    katholicos hope tomorrow is less crap for you, but I think it's amazing, we're in December and you've already had 9 nsd's!

    Thanks Sparrer!

    Ah well, i have been buying and making presents since 25th December 09 :D

    I know it isn't everyones cup of tea to look for and buy the next years Christmas pressies in the current years Christmas /New Years sales, but i like to snaffle the bargains, things my loved ones couldn't have if i didn't get them at least half price. I've had Christmas all sewn up (quite literally) for months. Just need to finish crocheting the blanket i am working on for my parents, to go in their hamper, and that's me done.

    DD is trying to rope me into going to Birmingham with her tomorrow as she has to hand an essay in at uni. If i do go with her it will defo be a spend day ;)

    Will have to wait and see how i feel in the monring, but i would be quite happy to just stay home :)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Oky doke, my 5 for today:
    1. working on the crocheted blanket i'm making for my parents Christmas hamper.
    2. Another simple meals day...pasta bake, home made pizza defrosted from the freezer, and cookies and cake from the freezer also.
    3. Watching some early episodes of the second season of X-Files.
    4. We would usually put up our Christmas tree today but DD has been working on her essay so we have scheduleed it for Wednesday when neither of us have anything else on.
    5. Darling doggy seems to have picked up considerably, was getting a bit worried as she has been sneezing a lot the past few days and although canines don't have colds like we humans do, it can be a symptom of more serious virus etc in pooches. She hasn't lost her appetite whatsoever though so i did think it probably wasn't too serious.:)
    I must add a 6th pleasure that happened only a few moments ago....i had a phone call from my dear son who has not seen or spoken to me since early September. He is only 15 and moved out to live with his Dad just after his 14th birthday. We've arranged that i will pick him up after school on Wednesday. So good to hear his voice, i can't tell you. It's the best possible Christmas present that we be in contact with one another again :-)
    That is so lovely!!! I was just about to write a post and read the above and am now sat here grizzling :o
    Am having a bit of a 'mare' with my DS2 (16) and could picture myself in your situation............he can't bear to be in the same room as me at the moment and has mentioned going to live with his dad but his GF doesn't want DS2 living with them.
    I shall be thinking of you Wednesday afternoon.
  • Good evening,
    Today is the last day of my holiday.I've not done everything I'd planned,but feel rested and have had a nice time.So for today:
    1 Sorted through a huge pile of paperwork.
    2 Went for a run again.
    3 Had a slice of marzipan and mincemeat tealoaf afterwards with a cuppa.It has improved since I made it last week.I think I'll make that,instead of the parkin,to give to friends.
    4 I've started watching 'Survivors' again-the original 70's series.I'm really enjoying it.(I've got it on DVD).
    5 Determined to have an early night,as back to work tomorrow.
    I'd like to say a belated 'Hi' to kiwiwblue and mhagster.
    Katholicos that's great news about your son!
    Sparrer I'd just like to say,rest assured,I don't live in the mountains,so am not at risk of avalanches!
    Tealady hope things turn out well.Sorry to read about your colleague,how sad.
    Introuble28 how unpleasant for you (work).Stay strong!
    Night night x
    Dundeedoll - if there's strength in numbers, please add my care and wraparounding to take to your friend. (beautifully written by ampersand)
    Thank you very much to all of you for all your good wishes for my friend's son/DS1's best friend. It means a lot, I will pass them on.
    1) Having a lovely chat with a friend I've 'met' through MSE last night...........laughing out loud - such fabulous therapy :rotfl:
    2) Putting up my fir garland with it's lovely little twinkly white lights on the fireplace beam.
    3) A lovely dinner..........Mr T's finest slow cooked braised beef in gravy (reduced to £1.25) carrot & swede mash (reduced to 30p) and red cabbage with cinnamon,apples, red onion and orange juice (left over from dinner party at work) It was yummy!!!
    4) Nice clean bedding to snuggle into in a bit :)..........albeit on my own :(:rotfl:
    5) Signing up for the sealed pot challenge on the debt board
    Thank you so much Dundeedoll :)
    My son and i have a very volatile relationship, he is extremely argumentative and despite the years of abuse i put up with from his father, he thinks his Dad is God. His Dad has influenced our son against me, he is devious and manipulative, but our son will not have it that his Father is not positively saintly.
    My DS might turn on me on Wednesday, or maybe next week or next month, there is no knowing what will set him off...the last time he stoped contact was when i arrived to collect him just 18 minutes later than i said i would be there.
    I was and still am devastated by his leaving, i'm been on anti-depressants since he left. To have my own son tell me he would rather run away from home than live with me and his sister...i don't think i will ever get over that hurt.
    All the best for things with you and your DS2 (((hugs)))
    Hello mhagster, lovely to "meet" you, I think quite a few of us would like to swap the UK's weather for Oz, I've just seen that snow is coming back to the south later this week :(
    Katholicos - will send positive thoughts your way for your reunion meeting with your son, you sound like a lovely mummy and your son knows it, but seems to find it hard to show it, let's hope this is a fresh start xx
    1. DD is back :):):):) and has nits :(:(:( but, she's back :):):) and I spent a happy hour or so detangling her hair (ultra curly) and watching the Muppets with her :):):)
    2. Wrapped all the presents, including some last-minute additions bought today at school bazaar and gave them to my dad to take up to theirs
    3. Just realised that if, as is threatened, the snow returns and we can't make it to their house, that I do have some other goodies I can wrap up - yes, I have already bought quite a few bits for DD's birthday next year, lol :)
    4. Bought some leftover food bits at the fete that we didn't sell, so tea was sorted cheaply!
    5. Bought lots of fab looking books and DVDs v. cheaply at the fete.
    6. DD is back :)
