5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
1. DD and I sang silly songs to each other this afternoon, she's back in the real world and raring to have fun! A couple more days with her grandparents will make sure she's delivered back to me fully fit and ready for the last week of term
2. It's Friday
3. Saw my lovely doctor and had mymedication changed, its great to feel that she's really listening and getting me help. Bless the NHS!
4. Had a great evening again with girly chums yesterday, definitely going to have a night off the sauce tonight!!
5. The doctor weighed me and apparently I've lost 5kg this month, woo hoo!! I was surprised, really thought it would be 1kg.....bit of a relief.0 -
I'm going to find 5 for yesterday (Thursday) if it kills me - it's nearly time for Friday's 5!
Rubbish day yesterday - stressed, shaky, crying etc.
1) Got lots of admin done.
2) Walked down to mum and dad's. Good going on the fields (in the snow) but the lane part of the walk was very icy and slippy and took ages.
3) Cooked a reasonable tea (prawn chow mein).
4) When I was in a particularly dreadful state, MrN came round to look after me. :-)0 -
For today (a good day):
1 Got up at a reasonable hour.
2 Bright, sunny day.Great skiing I'll bet in the mountains, except I believe that the risk of avalanches is quite high (heavy snowfall followed by mild weather).
3 Cleaned kitchen and bathroom floor.
4 Went for a run.Only managed 2 miles,but enjoyed it.Then did stretches afterwards.
5 Remembered to take my shopping list with me when I went out,so got everything done. Found some second-hand curtains for the kitchen window, yellow butterflies on thick, white cotton. They're just a bit short, but I think I'll put them up anyway.
Frith sorry that you had such a difficult day yesterday.Hope today has been better.
Kittikins good to read that your daughter's better.Well done on the weight loss!
Sparrer so pleased that you are feeling better.
Wishing you all a good evening x0 -
Broomstick - the book sounds great! Good luck :T
Frith - I'm so sorry that court was so bad. What a horrible situation. Hugs to you.
Beachbaby - so glad to hear that you're feeling good.
Caterina - well done on your raffle win. :T
Ampersand - I love your number five 5. "Bus and I arrived simultaneously at stop - good start - and thus began a lovely journey. Sun through glass, hares, pheasants in fields, the long way round through an extra long-lost type village, once a great inland port. This village has the oldest chartered fair in the world, over 900 years. Only 2 passengers and a happy driver, on we pootled until turning off the Green, brought to a halt by the refusal of a determined little dog to move from the middle of the narrow road. We waited. White van oncometh. Stopped. Bus driver and van driver exchange amused comments. They clearly both know this situation. Bus driver descends, van driver too - between them they lift little chap across to his house. There's an old lady looking from her kitchen window there. She smiles and mouths 'thankyou', waves as we move off. The driver told me that she loves it, this small exchange and a moment of company. Apparently, it happens a bit and he fears someone not stopping/not seeing one day...it still felt a special journey."
I love moments such as these.
Sparrer - lovely to hear from you. More hugs coming at you.
Here are mine for today:
1) My 40th birthday todayMy mum stayed the night so it was nice waking up and sharing my birthday morning with all my family.
2) Had some lovely presents - some perfume, a pretty crochet case and needles and some outsider art from America.
3) We went into town and went to our favourite Chinese restaurant.
4) Lots of phone calls from family and friends.
5) Haven't watched it for years but enjoyed catching up with some of this weeks Corrie special.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. Hugs to all who needs them.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Happy Birthday Blimus!Sounds like you've had a super day.
A :bdaycake: for you!0 -
Happy Birthday Blimus :beer:Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
Blimus many happy, if rather belated, returns of your day, hope you got all you wished for and more. Sounds like you got some lovely pressies and a yummy chinese to round off your day
marmite please take care when you go out, avoid those avalanches . The curtains sound so pretty, if they're at a sink window they need be a little short so they don't keep getting splashed. If you don't need to close them perhaps use some pretty yellow/white (stripe/gingham?) ribbon to tie them back and/or put a border of matching pleated fabric on the bottom to lengthen them a little bit?
(((Frith))) keep leaning on your family, Mr N and us, you're doing just fine. A good cry is nothing to be ashamed of, I'll bet there's not one of us who hasn't done so at some time and felt better for it
Kittikins I know what you mean about the NHS, we're so fortunate to have such a good health care system. I wish I had your GP though, mine isn't likely to tell me I've lost an ounce in the next 12 months! You'll be so pleased to get your DD back, thank goodness you have such lovely parents to look after her when she's poorly
beachbaby you sound so much brighter, it took me a while to get used to it too but I wouldn't be anything other but a singleton now. I hear you about frogs and men, your new version sounds like your friend got it right. Speaking of which, 'texting with a certain someone'...that's intriguing (or I'm just nosy
)
CCP enjoy your short working week. :rotfl:at the Simons Cat cartoon, it's ages since I saw one and forgot how funny they are.
Broomstick what thoughtful DS's to bring you flowers. Thank you for the reminder about wind up torches, mine doesn't work any more either so need a new one to go with the camping cooker I just bought since we had the electricity turned off for 9 hours, a week or so ago. Congrats on the mobile bargain, that's the way to do it!
Ladyhawk how do you manage it? You ate rubbish all day yet can still get into a slinky dress, and wear short skirts and red tights for work. I'm so greeeen!!!Hope you get a good break over Christmas so you can have a few lie-in's after all those early starts
ampersand congrats on your achievement of the twice weekly gym, and what a super find the ring was. Bless the little dog, it sounds like a part of his day he looks forward to
Caterina I had to smile at you going to the fish and chip place, it reminded me your trolley full of gifts to give/swap, and the ballast of onions! What a bargain your latest were
pupsicola what a sensible school supplying tissues for the nativity play. Now if they would all just come to their senses and let parents take cameras, or do they these days? When my DGC were younger the parents had the dubious priviledge of being able to buy photos - another crazy idea by do-gooders
1. Am back on my feet :j, that one was a horror but as usual I beat it. This thing has to live with me, not the other way round
2. Postie brought me a most interesting brochure, thank goodness it was in a plain envelope:o:o. Where do they get their lists of names from?!
3. Tidied up my hand/shoulder bags, found a lippy I love and had thought gone for ever, 7 tubes of mints still with holes intact, enough tissues to supply a school on nativity play day and the princely sum of 7 pence. Every little helps, as they say
4. My first outing tomorrow, to coffee with a friend, and I promise to wear a muffler CCP. It seems so long since I stepped outside I wonder if there's anything I should be aware of, an invasion of little green men, the traffic lights singing a rainbow or all the Skodas really made from sponge cake perhaps?
5. Last one is a pleasure for you, I'm so tired I'm going to stop talking nonsense, and shut up now!
Sweet dreams

Belated birthday greetings Blimus and yet more hugs to you Frith and lots of waves to Sparrer.
Quick five for Friday:
1. Got a lovely card with hens on the front in the post today.
2. Found a brilliant wool shop I didn't know existed - bit fatal really! - but I managed to come away with only one ball of very posh sock wool (enough to do a pair of socks) and a new pattern (it could have been soooo much worse).
3. Totally bizarre bits and pieces supper of soup, tiger bread, onion bhajis and samosas that had been in the freezer, and satsumas for pudding, but actually it was rather good.
4. Started to clear some space for getting the sewing machine set up.
5. Watching 'Still Folk Dancing' on iplayer. Loved seeing the variety of folk traditions out there. All very OS, money saving and community building and just eccentric. I like eccentric.:D
Sweet dreams,
Bx0 -
Good morning all. Didn't sleep well again last night. Next plan is to cut out all tea, coffee and alcohol - whatever will I drink now? Just catching up on the latest posts.
CCP, It's so good not to scrape the car when we've had to for so long.
Kittikins, Great news about your daughter and your weight loss!
Frith, Big hugs to you. How reassuring to have someone to take care of you.
Marmiterulesok, Glad you enjoyed the run - I never seem to manage the stretches.
Blimus, Belated Happy Birthday - sounds like you had a lovely day.
Sparrer, Lovely to see your post. I will let you know about the 'certain someone' if you let me know about the 'brochure'.
Broomstick, Supper sounds good!
Have a lovely weekend. X0 -

That sounds really good. I haven't used that before but will go and google it now to see if I can find it. Another great thing about folk dance - the costumes! However plain or outlandish
Just to edit - DH has just informed me that he already Sky +ed it last night !DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
