5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Hi all
got to be quick as just back and not done a stitch of work (still got to cook AND iron!).
Pleasures today:
1 - Porridge with chopped nuts for breakfast, with DS
2 - Outing with OS friend for lunch, Lewisham Fish and Chips, yummy!
3 - Tea for both of us at M&S with vouchers (they still keep sending me the vouchers even if I have stopped the fancy credit card! Who am I to refuse?) and because the tea is worth less than the vouchers I managed to get a large box of chocolate biscuits with them, paying a difference of 54 pence - bargain!
4 - Bought a great big (4Kg) bag of red onions at the market for £1.50 and also the unpickers that I need to turn DH's shirt collars.
5 - Just got a call from the charity that had the carol concert, we had bought some raffle tickets, I won 2 prizes, a bottle of Pimms and a cookery book YIPPEE!!!
Hugs to all who need them and I shall catch up with the posts tomorrow.
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good morning all. Just another quick post. Feeling as sick as a dog and have been up most of the night due to drinking to many baileys coffees yesterday. Only one pleasure for yesterday, but it's a good one,
1. Feeling alive again for the first time in months. The butterfly feeling, having a lovely drink hazed afternoon in front of a log fire, fantastic flirting conversation and being walked home.X

Blimus Thank you - yes, no damage to car or me and extremely lucky that no-one was coming down the hill at the time (the road is literally just wide enough for 2 cars)
Had to :rotfl: at the sumos.............QUOTE stripped down to their pants for authenticity QUOTE
Caterina more lovely posts after more lovely days.........I can't remember the last time I had fish 'n' chips! Oh and the pampering day sounded heavenly.
Ladyhawk Sorry about my teasing post - I just couldn't resist - I knew you'd put short shirt instead of short skirt...........just made me smile. The xmas tree ice sculpture sounds fabulous. Well done for your hard work on the project.
Minette Welcome to this lovely thread.
Tealady Well done on the (temporary) mending of the taps........you must be soooo pleased to be able to shower.
Broomstick Driving through The Cotswolds the last couple of days with the frost coated scenery has been truly magical.
Hope you manage to sort things with your sons. I am going through a very difficult time with DS2 at the moment so sympathise completely.
Ampersand Well done for Mr T's whoopsies.........isn't it great when you get a HUGE reduction?
CCP  for no lights on tree :T for Mr T jumpers
Marmite I could so identify with what you said about shower/dress/bed. Well done you (and for cleaning the cellar the other day) My mum sends me a Stollen every Xmas from Germany - it costs her a fortune in postage and I could get 1 in LIDL for £1.89 :rotfl:
Frith So sorry to hear about the court/contact thing. Hope the outcome doesn't unsettle you or the boys too much.
Will have to search out the shelter shop!
Perhaps we could meet up for a cuppa and a natter in Worc in the New Year.
Beachbaby Great news........what a difference to your first posts - not THAT long ago! Hope you're feeling less 'delicate'
kittikins Poor DD - she must've been very poorly.......glad she's feeling at least a bit better.
Pupsicola Although it's 12 years since DS2's first nativity I still remember how proud and emotional I felt.Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Evenin' all[says she, Dixonly surveying the partying posters...] - but from one who has just skyped 'I was a but shicked' for 'I was a bit shocked', perhaps I'll quietly withdraw, having not a drop taken. Honest, your Honour!
1. 6 months of twice weekly gym achieved this morning and a reverbe 2p on way back, much run over by school buses - makes it look more interesting.
2. NZ skype brings bad news from fellow pupil, c.1950's. I am really wondering if I can go all out and try to save for another visit. Last time[1st in 20 years] was 3 yrs ago and entirely thanks to Martin's Bank Charges campaign and help from here. Things were illegally[adjudged] done in the aftermath of R taking his own life. It was a shameful business by a Bank[no longer mine]who bowed to all sorts of Big Names pressure in the family. 'Pleasure' may seem ill-chosen as a term here, but it is so good to be able to see and hear and interpret what's actually going on.
3. Checked Banking online and saw a rogue £25 deposit - not mine, thought I -but it turns out to be a cold weather payment. Hooray!
4. Four ebay things posted.
5. Bus and I arrived simultaneously at stop - good start - and thus began a lovely journey. Sun through glass, hares, pheasants in fields, the long way round through an extra long-lost type village, once a great inland port. This village has the oldest chartered fair in the world, over 900 years. Only 2 passengers and a happy driver, on we pootled until turning off the Green, brought to a halt by the refusal of a determined little dog to move from the middle of the narrow road. We waited. White van oncometh. Stopped. Bus driver and van driver exchange amused comments. They clearly both know this situation. Bus driver descends, van driver too - between them they lift little chap across to his house. There's an old lady looking from her kitchen window there. She smiles and mouths 'thankyou', waves as we move off. The driver told me that she loves it, this small exchange and a moment of company. Apparently, it happens a bit and he fears someone not stopping/not seeing one day...it still felt a special journey.
6 and beyond. All in all, today somehow felt good and I am wearing a new sterling silver ring, bought by me for me[still feels amazing to have done this]marquisite surrounding garnet [my luckily lower end scale birthstone, but I've always loved them], from a short lease Past Times concession that's open till the end of Dec. I like it very much. I was amazed to see it below 1/3rd original price and further inspection, with a sweet assistant Jo, makes us think that the 3 70>80% reductions I spotted are someone's booboo...reducing to 30% or 20%, rather than by etc.etc. Do have a look if you have a Past Times near you. The others we spotted were a heart&crystal pendant on sterling silver chain: was £30, now £9 and a fairy ditto, was £45, now£13.50 [as was my ring] - all sterling and semi-precious stones. Might post this on another Board.
7. Hearing a prog. on Wilfred Thesiger trailed. I read him at an early age, round about the time of my Lawrence of Arabia fixations, early 60's. WT has remained, along with Brunel, LTC Rolt and others of that ilk, one of my hero figures.
8.Just read my daily online D!pêche du Midi to see France is cut in two; the North all snow, as here, the - my - beautiful South, 17C!

9. Not long now.
10. About to catch up with Antiques Roadshow - lovely iplayer.

Evening Ladies,
Phew - what a long day!
1) NSD
2) Easy supper of HM tomato sauce and spagetti
3) I have been eating rubbish all day - a custard doughnut, shortbread, jelly sweets, and caramel rice cakes. But they all tasted sooooo good
4) Had my dress fitting for my work Christmas party. It is fancy dress and the theme is a famous person or character. I'm going as Titania and the lady who make my fancy dress outfits has made the most gorgeous dress for me - it is white and silver with a very fitted bodice and a long flowy floor length skirt. I'm so excited about wearing it!
5) having a bit of a chat with a colleague that I usually struggle to communicate with. I think it is that he is just oblivious to how his demenour affects other people. He is very calculating, which I don't like but we had a bit of a chat this evening and he almost seem human... almost...
Sleep tight everyone
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Back again.Today has been a better day.
My 5 pleasures:
1 A bright, sunny day though the temperature has dropped by 10c since yesterday.
2 Had a back massage, also on subscription,so a reduced price.Very nice and therapeutic,as I have a dodgy back. The leg waxing does not count,as it was not in any way pleasurable, though I also pay through subscription.
3 Visited Aldi for the first time. There is several here in the immediate area, but a bit complicated to get to without a car.A new one has opened, requiring a straightforward bus journey.I bought a few things and think I'll become a regular.
4 This shop is in the 'quartier' I lived in for 5 years, but had not been that way for a while. It was nice to have a wander around and see what had changed (not a lot).
5 Walking home through the park, just as the sun was setting behind the Jura mountains. The sky was a burnt orange, beautiful.
Ampersand I enjoyed the tale of your bus journey.Hope the little dog stays safe. How lovely to see hares and pheasants.
Dundeedoll thanks for your words of support. How nice of your Mum to send you a stollen!
Kittikins pleased that your daughter is on the mend.Hope you had a nice night out.
Caterina how lovely to win two prizes,I am envious!
Beachbaby 'Yay' for feeling alive!Hope you're feeling less queasy...
Broomstick hope you managed to smooth things out with your sons.Your book idea sounds interesting.
Good night x0 -
I've just looked at the time with horror. Didn't mean tonight to be such a late one.
Hugs Frith. I don't know what else to say.
Dundeedoll, I'm in Cotswold country too. Maybe we have been looking at the same frost!
Today has brought in yet more unexpected stuff but at least it's been managable even if the day, yet again, did not go according to plan and arrangements had to be cancelled.
My five for Thursday:
1. DSs bought me an unexpected bunch of flowers which are looking very lovely on the kitchen table.
2. Got a new mobile to replace my current one which is falling apart. According to the phone company I'd already amassed £13 towards the cost of the new one and the replacement was £12.50 so I didn't have to spend any more money.
3. Had a brain wave about where I can put a little table to be able to leave my heavy sewing machine up for a while without having to put it away after each use. I have a ton of sewing to do and at last I can see how to make this happen.
4. Wandered round some bits of our town that I hadn't been in before and made some new discoveries.
5. Tested our kitchen drawer's wind-up torch only to find that it has stopped holding any charge, but then I remembered I had a spare in my small stock of just-in-case presents so I've taken it for us instead. It seems to work really well, so that's another saving.
Off to bed. Sweet dreams everyone.

Hi guys, just climbing out of my pit to say things are much better, breathing almost back to normal, so hope to get back into posting 'properly' tonight. I've had to sneak in to read the posts from time to time, I get withdrawals symptoms without them! I might go to the front door and see if anything has changed in the last week or so, someone mentioned snow
? So should be safe as long as I don't inhale the cold air..
Catch up later, take care
Sue x0 -
Evening all.
sparrer - I'm so glad to know you're feeling better. Now stay away from that cold air, y' hear?
ampersand - thanks for the tip-off on Past Times jewelley - I love their stuff, and might have to pop in as I'm on my way past tomorrow.
Kittikins - I'm glad to hear your DD's starting to feel better. I hope she's even better by now.
Frith - I'm so sorry to hear the outcome of your day in court.A multitude of e-hugs are drifting in your direction.
My pleasures for today:
1) No ice on my car when I left for work this morning. There was ice all over the pavement, but none on my car - very odd, but it was nice to have a morning off from scraping the stuff off the windscreen!
2) Broke three eggs while putting my shopping away this evening , but managed to salvage one - scrambled eggs for breakfast tomorrow, I think.
3) Watching my cat wolf down the posh cat food I bought him - on special offer, of course!
4) A new Simon's Cat cartoon - love 'em, love 'em, love 'em. :rotfl:
5) It's Friday, and I've got a nice lazy week next week - 3 days off, then a half day for the first of two Christmas do's, so really a one day working week.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening everyone. Hope you are all ok. Still quite cold here, but the snow is thawing at last. Driving around is a lot easier.
Kittikins, I hope your DD is starting to feel better.
Pupsicola, I love the nativity plays, really miss them now my two are at 'big school'. Cherish the memories.
Caterina, congratulations on the raffle prizes. Lucky you.
Dundeedoll, I'm still feeling queasy - so don't think it can have been the Baileys (though I'm sure they wouldn't have helped).
Ampersand, good for you buying yourself a ring. Always nice to treat yourself occasionally, sounds lovely.
Ladyhawk, The dress sounds gorgeous. I wish I had the opportunity to wear something like that.
Marmiterulesok, The view on your walk must have been stunning. How wonderful.
Broomstick, unexpected flowers are always a joy to recieve.
Sparrer, so glad you are beginning to feel better. Looking forward to your 'proper' posts again.
Had a lovely day today. Oddly enough I am starting to cherish my singledom. I feel much like my old self again - a bit like I have regressed 16 years! Here are my Friday pleasures,
1. My wonderful brother in law coming to fix the brackets on my walls for my kitchen blinds. They look great now.
2. An afternoon spent with a friend just shopping and chatting over lunch and what seemed like a bucket of coffee.
3. Unexpected gift from said friend - a frog that turns into a man! (I only have experience of a man that turned into a frog!)
4. DD1 made a chili at school, so no need for me to cook tonight.
5. Texting with a certain someone.
Love to all. X0
