5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments

5 for yesterday (Thursday) - if I can remember!
1) Moved another 80 or so bricks and got some tiles too - proper local, Broseley ones. (There are tiled bits where the chimney angles in).
2) My boys and MrN's all got on well together and tea was fair to reasonable.
3) The builder left a message that he will be bringing his tower scaffold round on Saturday so things are moving!
4) Spoke to my school friend on the phone.
5) MrN came round. :-)
6) Had phone call from my solicitor. The ex's solicitor had written to her saying the ex had been found guilty (but not on how many charges) but it would be a non-custodial sentence given by the magistrate. So my sol phoned the court and found he was guilty on ALL TWENTY charges, don't know what sentence it will be and it is NOT being dealt with by the magistrate, it is going to Crown Court so he can receive a tougher sentence. So yet more lies - par for the course!
RAS - the boys don't know. Unfortunately their father is one for discussing all sorts of weird topics with them so perhaps he will tell them when he sees them on Monday. I would rather wait until I know what the sentence is before telling them but think I need to "get in there first". Goodness knows how you are supposed to go about such a task! I remember my dad getting a summons for speeding and he left the letter on the bookcase in their living room and my Grandma found it :-D and all hell breaking loose but its slightly more serious than that!
Thanks, CCP.0 -
Hi all
Got to be quick as in the office, need to register one pleasure though:
My boss (who is not in today) emailed me to say that I do not need to come in on my last planned day because it is all meetings. This means that after today it is only 2 days to go! Although I am sorry I won't be able to say goodbye to the Big Boss in person, who is a really decent man and who in my opinion is doing a lot of good in his work. Never mind, I shall email him my goodbye.
See you all later! xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

I assume that you solicitor is going to point out that since sentencing is going to be Crown Court, not only are all options are open but plainly the magistrates thought neither £5,000 or 6 months was adequate?
I agree about waiting until you know the actual sentence if you can, but do worry about the possibility of local gossip (not sure how far away the court was?) or the local papers picking it up before that happens. Usually local papers wait for sentencing and it is the run up to Christmas, so you should be OK.
I would let ex tell the boys anything he wants as then you are not seen to be adversely influencing them, but be ready with the facts as much as you can if they ask.
Now a few pleasures:
1. My almost free seeds arrived - £10 free voucher at T&M that I struggled to spend because there was not enough I really wanted, so I have one "lucky dip" packet of curcubits.
2. Spent time with a few people and my team won the quiz; thanks to people who know their popular music.
3. The snow had not settled at home, so getting was OK.
4. Someone I know originally comes from another country where things are very hard. We send money via unoffical channels (otherwise it gets confiscated). The latest reports are that the children are getting two meals a day including bread and some protein, which is a big improvementIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Afternoon everyone,
I'm feeling an incy wincy bit delicate today after the work awards dinner last night. I sadly didn't win employee of the year. I know I am biassed but there was no way that the woman who won should have! Both my boss and the big boss were very nice about it and said all the right things. I'm not bitter..... I was amused however that a rather short balding man from legal was trying to hit on me at the bar after the dinner. He spent most of the time staring at my very modest cleavage... lol... As if!
1) Stayed in a lovely hotel last night
2) The dinner was really yummy (which is so unusual for these big events)
3) Lie in this morning as I am on holiday today
4) Leisurely room service breakfast (and I packed all the little jars etc in my bag to bring home!)
5) I DIDN'T GET A PARKING TICKET!!! I completely forgot to pay for my parking at the station yesterday and obviously the warden thought it was too chilly to do his rounds.
Hope everyone is wrapped up warm.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Mine for yesterday and so far today...will read other's posts properly later hopefully...
1. Yesterday my cookery book arrived that I had won from the competition on here. It looks to be a good one and I am making the chicken pie on Monday with leftovers from the roast. I genuinely never win anything so am really chuffed.
2. Went for swim this morning, always feel better after that!
3. The banana bread turned out well, I added some pecans and cranberries to the mixture and made a double batch as a friend of OH said how much he enjoyed the piece of the last batch he tasted.
4. OH and I spent time together today (he had no work today) which is a rare pleasure these days. We got the Christmas decorations, cards and so on down from the loft and I plan to start putting the tree up this weekend as we have visitors on Sunday. I might even get a bit of wrapping up done if I can tonight.
5. Our large white hen has been under the weather recently and taking herself to bed at 3pm, so we were a bit worried as to what was up. Turns out she is moulting heavily (feathers ALL over the garden today!) which explains it- poor thing must be freezing in this weather!
Hugs to all who need them, hope you are all managing to keep warm!0 -
Posting earlier than normal today as I am having a skive at work.
Pleasures for today:
1. Brisk walk into work this morning and a double pleasure as I got to the office before a bus passed me so would have been freezing standing around waiting for a bus for 20 minutes
2. A really lovely hot shower this morning, a bath is nice but there is nothing to beat a shower on a morning to wake you up and for that feeling of cleanliness
3. More HM butternut squash soup for lunch and enough for a friend in the office as well.
4. NSD
5. Easy dinner planned for tonight and as all prepared it just needs to go in the oven.
6. Just found out I have a lift home so no walking in the cold and dark
Hugs to all who need them, hope you all stay warm and safe in the cold weather.0 -
Evening, everyone. Haven't posted in a bit so here goes:
1. Starting reading Jackie Chan's autobiography. So far so good. I love reading about people.
2. The car not taking long to warm up this morning.
3. Went into town and had a look around the Farmer's Market and didn't buy anything! Oh, I really could have done though. They had venison burgers cooking, Aberdeen Angus ones, chicken burgers, all with local cheese or onions or relishes... mmm the smell was amazing. But my coins stayed hidden in my wallet
4. Had a nice conversation with my sister.
5. The local theatre that was burnt a while back is reopening next year and putting on shows! It'll be great to go and see a show - it's been a while!.
Have a lovely evening, everyone. Keep warm, and (((hugs))) to those that need them. I could do with one as I'm a bit emotionally worn out today but it is Friday! Thinking of you all.
KB xxTrying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -
Blimus - the second viewing went very well thanks.
So well in fact we put an offer in and it was accepted WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :j :j :j
Rather excited as it is our first home and it seems like a massive step but also feels completely the right thing to do.
Anyway, my other pleasures:
1) Seeing the sun come up over Portsmouth as I drove the pooch to doggy day care.
2) My wonderful students being incredible and making me laugh and laugh with their presentations today.
3) The fact it is Friday is a pretty big pleasure!
4) My team leader at work giving me lots of praise saying that I have really settled into the job well and that she thinks I am doing brilliantly.
5) Remembering that the offer was accepted and we're getting a house!!!!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Evening all.
niksyg - :j:j:j:j is about all I can say!
Kitchenbunny - you were very good at the farmers' market - I don't think I could have resisted grilling burgers, of any of the flavours you mention.
Ginger Snap - I'm glad the book's good as I won one as well but haven't looked at it properly yet. That's a treat I'm reserving for a (hopefully) snowy weekend.
Ladyhawk - I hope you're feeling a bit less delicate by now.I'm glad you had a good night last night, although it's a real shame you lost out on the prize to someone who didn't deserve it.
Caterina - one less day at work (and a meeting-y day at that) - yay! :j
ampersand - I'm glad you were feeling happier this morning. Thanks for the hint on the cake - I can't stand Ms Lawson, but I'll have to look out the recipe just so I can make a super-yellow cake (and I love polenta cake anyway, so it's a fine excuse).
Patchwork Quilt - I'm glad you're feeling better now. I know what you mean about the miraculous effects of fruit vodka on coughs - my dad fed me on raspberry vodka when I had the flu while visiting last Christmas, and it really does help. (Or at least meant I didn't care as much.;))
Blimus and marmite - your Christmas puddings sounds lovely. I've still got one my grandmother made me last year, which I will have to dig out over the weekend now you've made me think of it.
sparrer - after you mentioned a certain brand of curry sauce yesterday (or was it the day before), I found it on special offer in the supermarket tonight, so I've got a couple of jars to deal with future curry cravings. Thanks very much for the tip! :T
My pleasures for today:
1) Agreed with colleagues that we'll put the office Christmas tree up next week - and this year it will have lights! (We haven't been allowed them in the past, but they've eased up a bit this year so we've got permission.)
2) Lost one of my earrings while at the supermarket.I phoned them when I got home and someone had handed it in, so I can go and collect it tomorrow. I'm so pleased as it's one of my favourite pairs.
3) Lovely cuddle from a chilly puddy tat when I got home.
4) Planning a lazy evening curled up inside - it's not very exciting, but it's cold out there! (But still no snow.)
5) It's Friday! :j
Have a lovely evening all - stay safe and warm.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening everyone!
Hope everyones well - I need to do some real catching up on this thread, which I'll do over the weekend.
Today's pleasures
1) I've been offered voluntary redundancy :j:j:j It's funny though - even though I've been desperate to get out for ages, now that it's come to it, I'm a little hesitant. Bit like a bad marriage - the familiar is sometimes better than the unknown. But, I just have to remember the grief my employer has caused me and the effect it's had on my health.... so my acceptance letter will be going in on Monday :j:j:j
2) Another month clocked up as a non smoker
3) Dentist again commented on how much healthier my teeth and gums are since I quit smoking (will be 2 years in January)
4) Just thinking how wonderful it'll be not having to trail out to work in the ice and snow this winter
5) Nice day out with a friend to look forward to tomorrow.
