Evening, everyone. Here's my pleasures for the day:
1. Getting home safe and early. I do dread getting onto the dual carriageway from the town where my parents live. Luckily, DH made a gap for me and maintained a steady distance so I got home OK.
2. I managed to reverse the entire distance to the driveway and onto it, correcting as necessary! I did have to pull forward a couple of times to correct, but YAY!
3. Getting ready to make my cake. It'll be my first attempt at a novelty cake (when I get a spare minute, my favourite programme is Ace of Cakes - oh to have that job!). I'm going to try and make the Alien from the Alien films! It'll be interesting to say the least.
4. A cup of hot chocolate. Do you know, I've not had a coffee or a coke all day? Rare for me, I can tell you...
5. Planning a family tea - another jambalaya is on the cards, I think. It gets requested a lot.
mineallmine - mmm, non-alcoholic mulled wine. I shall have to fully read the email and get that recipe, as it sounds lovely. And of course, there's not much like coming home to a warm house.
Blimus - how do you get on with quesadillas? I tried to make them once and while they were tasty, they kept falling to bits trying to get them out of the frying pan. If I can find a foolproof way of doing that I think I'd do them again, but it's a little off putting.
Carrie - I get the opportunity for a lay in on Saturday, and I'll be looking forward to that! I leave the house a little later now I'm driving, but it's still early. Well done on the book win!
CCP - congrats on winning the book! I went in for it but wasn't lucky this time. Hope it brings many good meals.
Hope everyone has a nice evening.

I have not posted since my pamper session last Wed when preparing for a day out with my friend, so have gone through a week's posts. Will post this first and then do another for my pleasures.
CCP glad the flying tile missed you/the car and that you finally got the sink fixed. Porridge breakfasts and your meals (fiery) chicken/lentil stew, bread pudding etc sound very yummy....so does the new bakery. :Tref the book
Frugalpam How disappointing about your brother, other people's actions can be incredibly hurtful sometimes. Glad you have the puddytat to snuggle with. Great news about cutting down the tablets............and that you are doing so well at WW. :T
Tealady Congratulations on your lunch win. :T Hope the bathroom refurb goes well and doesn't cause too much chaos. You must be very excited to see it all finished!
Ladyhawk Great news about a possible tax rebate :)but not so great about having to spend £600 on the car. Well done on all your cleaning/sorting. Glad the meal went well - it sounds lovely, I will make that next Tues when I have a friend round for dinner - I love lamb. :(ref the lottery hassle.
Kitchenbunny Congrats on passing your test :T and FAB on driving on motorway. How disappointing for you that you missed the comedian. Hope Mr KB is sleeping better and feeling beter too.
Sparrer I was so pleased to read of your lovely day last Saturday. Lovely company and food + a seat in 1st class on the way home...............how fab was that? I can't wait to meet the OS ers going to the B'ham meet in Jan.
Frith Ludlow & Hereford charity shop trawl sounds lovely - well done on your bargains. I used to love going to Hereford (Partner's (ex) parents live there and I'd often go to see them - I miss it) What a weight off your mind ref the PPI debt but not so good about 'those letters'. Hope you're feeling more positive regarding MrN ;-)
Caterina (You have had far too many pleasures in the last week for me to mention them all:rotfl:) How kind of you & Mr C to look after your poorly neighbour - she must've felt so glad she's got such caring neighbours. So pleased the meet went so well - it sounded lovely! :T for organising it. I can't wait to meet you & Mr C in Jan - I may even bring my crochet hook! Hope work is less stressful - not long now!
Gingersnap Aren't the chickens fun? One of my clients asked me to look after her 4 when she went on her hols - scrambled eggs every day! Glad to see hubby's had some work - what does he do? Have you worn your skirt yet? Sorry to hear you've had a 'down' time but hopefully are feeling brighter now. I LOVE Nigel Slater's cooking....so simple............so gorgeous. Well done on the tutoring BTW! Not sure if it's any good to you, but I have loads of books and go from M5 j9 - j13 quite a bit. If you're anywhere near and would like them pm me ????
Introuble Sorry to read about the hassle you have been having at work - not nice and so unnecessary. Hope you managed to sort it by having a chat with your manager. DH's fishing trip - brilliant that you've managed to keep costs down.
Niksyg the tidying before mum's visit..........:rotfl::rotfl:I think we're all the same! You must be so relieved about the mortgage - great news!
Crickett Singing solo at the church function - how wonderful it must be to have a voice to be able to do that! Hope the squealy car is all fixed now. You must've felt so good walking 5 miles when you can suffer with the most excruciating pain.
Savingforoz Enjoy! Lovely to read your post.
Missmoneysave Sorry to hear you've been feeling low but wonderful to read that you've got brilliant supportive friends to pull you back up. Hope Ian's happier too!
Adelight - A nice hot bath is just the thing to make me feel better.
Beachbaby The girls' concert sounded lovely and even better as you had someone to talk to. Mmmnnhhhh......mince pies - I have to make 48 this week for playgroups Xmas fete on Saturday. Ooohh....jam scones and cookies too!!!!!!Whenever I read about Mr N it brings a smile to my face too!
Glad the councelling is helping DD1, it can be so hard for them to open up and convey their innermost feelings to someone. DS2 had it for a while but I don't think he opened up at all really. Hope you are feeling brighter after being a bit low.......being so up & down is wearing in itself, isn't it? I do hope you manage to sleep better. I had a good sleep last night, went to bed early at 9 to watch tv with a hot water bottle which I put behind my back & I soon dropped off only to be woken by a text @ 11.30pm  Went back to sleep and woke @ 6.30am - it makes such a difference to waking up @1am, 3am & 5am!
Jaxx Loved your post (6634) Sooo positive...........long may it continue! (I have a 'Kevin' too.........doin' me swede as they say :rotfl::rotfl:) Couldn't agree more ref SK :j
Villagelife Pleased you are feeling better..........it's really miserable when you feel poorly. How nice of DS2 to cook for you tho' - can't even remember the last time DS2 offered to make me a cup of tea........Mother's Day 2007 I think:rotfl::rotfl:
Olliebeak Hope things slow down a little for you..........don't go wearing yourself out and getting poorly.
Marmite Well done on the running..........I just COULDN'T  Oh, what great news about the medical bills.
JackieO Another 'meeter'! Glad you enjoyed it. As I said to beachbaby, slleping through makes such a difference.
Rebekah Sorry to hear you're having family troubles. I made some veg soup in the slowcooker Sunday and had it Mon/Tues for dinner too! Hope you've had a nice time to cheer you up with your friend tonight.
Blimus Mexican-inspired place mats........I think we'll need a pic! They sound fab. Hope you get that nice lay-in.
Carrieparkinson Oh dear, sorry to hear you have thyroid probs, but good that it's been found so it can be sorted.
mineallmine Nothing like a warm house..........how nice that you have one
And anyone else I've missed out

Good evening all. After my earlier post here are my five for today,
1. Generally feeling much brighter and stronger.
2. A quieter day at work.
3. Lovely phone conversation with a friend.
4. Homemade turkey stew made in the slow cooker which meant the house smelled fab all day. Have made enough to freeze some aswell.
5. Met an old friend at a school open evening tonight who says I have to go to her cafe for a drink and gossip and some mutual support.
Hope everyone is safe and warm on this blustery evening. I'm going to take my hot water bottle to bed tonight. Dont want cold toes!
Love to all. X0 -
Evening all,
Hope you have had a good day.
1) My dining room table was collected this morning by a lovely South African chap who is going to strip it down for me.
2) Good day in the London office - made some progress on a really pesky project
3) Had my lunch bought for me. One of the operations managers popped out to M&S to get lunch and asked me if I wanted to go with him. I couldn't really be bothered and when they came back I jokingly asked if he had bought me anything and he said well not actually but I have a spare sandwich if you want it. it was yummy!
4) Dinner with my DBs and SILs for my middle brother's birthday
5) Sold 4 of the items on eB'y - they went very, very cheaply but something is better than nothing.
Night all...
Sleep tight

And so to my pleasures since posting last Wed
1) A lovely day in Leamington Spa with my friend.
2) I saw a post on here about someone wearing red tights and getting nice comments at work (Please identify yourself - can't remember who it was) and thought it was great so went and bought some. I wore them for my day out with a black skirt and top, chunky red necklace + knee high black suede boots. Got to my friends and she was wearing a black skirt, black tights, red boots and a red jacket. Perfect! We had 4 seperate compliments on our outfits during our outing.
3) I drove there and didn't panic about driving in a town I'd never been to before and found the car park easily.
4) Managed to dodge all the showers and had a lovely lunch in a French Bistro - 2 courses @£9.95.
5) Bought a jumper and a set of 2 tops+shrug+necklace in M&S for £40 and another pair of boots for £15 so was pleased with that.
6) Meal deal in M&S Most tasty (HUGE) pasta dish, potato dish, lemon cheesecake & bottle of rose for £10
7) Ate BOTH slices of cheesecake for tea
8) Had a really good clearout in house - a bit painful as I had to sort out ex's & his 3 son's stuff but another step towards the future
9) A phone call from DS1 to tell me:
'I just had to phone you mum 'cos I'm thinking about you and I want to tell you how much I love you' :smileyhea
even if it was at 03.47am on Sunday :rotfl::eek::rotfl::eek::rotfl:
10) A gorgeous day yesterday weatherwise.
11) My cat coming home so I could take her for her vet's appt.
12) Above only needing her anual booster and no treatment for her dicky heart.
13) A nice phonecall from someone nice
14) My hair which was coming out in handfuls after being ill since May  seems to have stabilised a bit.
15) Have got to 15 weeks 3 days without nicotine :j
16) Because of above am about £225 better off
OH AND
17) Bought a BIG bar of LIDL hazelnut chocolate and ate it last night and tonight..........a real pleasure as I'm not supposed to eat nuts OR chocolate but it was LOVVVVERRRRLY!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j
