  • Evening all! Just a few quick pleasures tonight:

    1. A good night's sleep last night.

    2. OH had work on today, a job for tomorrow and a couple of quotes too later in the week so hopefully some more money will be coming in soon. :)

    3. Work was tiring today but no major dramas really and I didn't have any bouts of anxiety today which is a good thing.

    4. Beautiful sunshine once the fog had cleared this morning- shame I had to be in the classroom though!

    5. Watching Giles and Sue's Good life programme tonight and then the programme about the changing face of the high street-the 1930's week tonight was fascinating! I would not have wanted to have been a baker in times gone by!

    6. My Tasting Club bargain chocolates arrived tonight- delicious (OH and I tried a few) but I have to say I probably prefer Lindt chocolate or even the odd After Eight mint. :)

    Evening all,

Introuble - sorry you had such a dreadful day. My friend lost her baby at 20 weeks a couple of years ago - it's so hard to know how to help them (not that we can really). Well done for being a good friend.

I had a pretty ok day today.

    1) Lots of good work completed today especially a couple of annoying things that had been hanging around my to do list for a few months.

    2) My two colleagues/ friends came round for dinner and we had a really nice evening. Supper turned out nicely too. They have promised to come round again and cook for me next time. YAY!!

    3) Got a firm bid for one of my eb#y items and query about two other ones.

    4) Gorgeous sunshine even though I was stuck indoors all day.

    5) Laughing at the cat who now has made two new friends tonight and chose to sit with the boys tonight rather than me! Cheeky monkey - doesn't he know who fills his bowl?

    Night night...

    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening all,

Lovely to read so many positives, and hugs to those who need them...would be more personal in my comments but I am tired and feeling a bit run down, so please forgive me...
    My pleasures today:

    1) OH made me a particularly good cup of tea this morning - don't you just love it when you get a really perfect cuppa?!
    2) The students in my morning classes were brilliant - they can be a pretty rowdy bunch at times but today they were all really focused and produced some very good work.
    3) Have got an appointment booked for pooch's appointment with the specialist - not until mid December but at least it is booked.
    4) OH out this eve so made myself hm potato wedges with some chicken goujons which were lurking at the bottom of the freezer - a very comforting tea!
    5) Cuddles with poochy pup this eve on the sofa.
Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.

    Evening everyone!
Phew - halfway through my 2 day working week :j It's not the job itself that's stressful - I enjoy helping my clients and get a great deal of satisfaction. What stresses me out is the endless being chased to meet ridiculous targets, the ever changing systems ie new databases, new forms etc, endless meetings, and several young and inexperienced managers who haven't a clue what we practitioners actually do!
Now that I've got that off my chest :D ........
    Todays pleasures :-
    1) One more day at work then I can enjoy pottering/meeting friends/crafting etc
    2) Puddy tat very affectionate tonight - has spent most of this evening snuggled up on my lap purring contentedly
    3) Getting back in touch with a college friend and enjoying catching up on news
    4) Being able to indulge in a slice of yummy cake at work and still keeping within WW points
    5) Happy for Prince William and Kate - seem such a lovely down to earth couple inspite of everything.
    6) Operation wean off anti depressants going well so far - have done a week on a slightly reduced dosage and haven't felt any different - apart from slightly more awake.

    5 for today (Tuesday).

    1) Didn't do my normal helping out job so ran away! Or at least, drove to Hereford. It's where I tend to go to when I've a day to myself. Did the 2nd hand shops (trousers for smaller son) and looked around and had lunch in my favourite cafe. Not time for my usual trip to the Cathedral, though.

    2) Got a couple of quotes. The end wall of my house is in a terrible state of repair and has been for years but I've never had the money to do anything about it. It was quite exciting to talk to builders about lime mortar and Victorian bricks - as though I know what I'm talking about!

    3) Did 2 loads of washing and cleaned the bathroom.

    4) Popped in to mum and dad's for a cup of tea on the way home from Hereford.

    5) Oh yes, got some handwarmers while I was out (those where you flex the metal button thing and they stay warm for about an hour). I got one each for the boys and they love them! They've already used them 3 times this evening and want to take them to school tomorrow.

    6) MrN came round and we had a good chat. :-)
  • Good morning all. Been awake since 5 again - wish I could get out of the habit but at least it means I can come and read this thread in peace.
Marmiterulesok, I have entered a few runs in my time. The trick is to enter the more fun runs rather than ones for more serious runners. They are a good laugh and you can meet some lovely people.
Introuble28, sorry to hear about the nastiness at work and also for your friend. Stay strong for her.
Patchworkquilt, Just getting the chocolates would be five pleasures in itself :-)
Missmoneysave, I also love the cocacola christmas ad.
Gingersnap, oh how I envy your good nights sleep.
Ladyhawk, cats are very fickle aren't they!
niksyg, hope you are feeling a bit better tomorrow.
frugalpam, go gently on the weaning. Glad you feel better.
Frith, what are you doing up so late? Could it be anything to do with MrN? :-)
    My five for yesterday,
    1. Feeling brighter after feeling so low on Monday evening.
    2. Smiling at my new PG chimp, free with tea bags. We have sat him next to our other one with their arms round each other.
    3. DD1 & 2 not wanting to go to athletics last night which meant a cosy night in in front of the tv.
    4. A lovely walk with my dog in the sunshine to try and clear my head. (didn't work- I just had too much time to think!)
    5. Didn't have to drive to the office with my mileage forms. They accepted the details over the phone. Saved my time and fuel.
Hope everyone has a good day today. Love to all. X
  • Introuble28 Just read your post, I am so sorry you had another rotten day. Hugs for you and your friend, what terrible news. :(

Beachbaby really glad you are feeling brighter now and had a cosy night in. :T Please what is Banangrams?!?!

Frith Your day in Hereford sounds great- its somewhere I have never been though I must be less than an hour away I think. Tell me more about it please!

Frugalpalm Great news re the tablets, just take it steady though as their effects wear off very gradually. Glad you feel more awake-I did too when was coming off them. :)

niksyg really sorry you are feeling run down , I know the feeling well. Hope you are better soon. I gather from your post you are a teacher-there are a lot of us about. :o

Sparrer FANTASTIC news about Kefi, bet you are over the moon! :T Miracles do happen.

Villagelife Very well done on the ebay interest...when do your auctions end? Hope they are still going well.

Tealady What good luck with the competition win! :T Your new bathroom will be gorgeous, hope the week without facilities goes very quickly for you! Do you know anyone who belongs to a gym? I found it very useful to go there for a shower etc when our bathroom was being sorted.

Kitchenbunny You do have a lovely relationship with your OH, its so heartwarming to read how you support eachother. :) I know just how you feel re worrying all afternoon about getting the car out of a space! That's me to a tee- I even have a set place I park in when I go to town to avoid any difficult parking decisions or manoeuvres...:o

Marmiterulesok Very impressed by your run! :T I'm very glad the water is back on but glad you could be so ingenious with a thermos!!!

Have a great day everyone, hugs to those who need them. xx

Gingersnap - Hereford is ace! I hope I can post links here to my favourite places:

http://www.vegan3counties.org.uk/eatingout/hereford/hereford.htm - Nutters, where I go for lunch.

http://www.history.uk.com/history/hereford-cathedral-hereford-cathedr/ - Stanbury chapel - my favourite part of Hereford Cathedral. It's like being in a cave!

Tried to find a Hereford webcam - what a boring view they chose!

  • I know its early yet but so far I have had

1 A good nights sleep and didn't wake until 6.30.result for me as I normally only sleep a few hours at a time then wake when I move as my joints ache (osteo-arthritis)
2 DGS Mikey (6) suddenly turned round and ran back to me in the playground and gave me a huge hug and said 'I love you so much Granny'
3.My brother Davy rang at 8.00 this morning just to say 'Hello how are you' from France
    4. Eldest DD is coming to lunch at 1.00 which is always a treat for me
5 Really pleased with the news of a Royal Wedding we all need a bit of something cheerful to get our spirits up in these hard times
  • Frith Thank you so much for the info on Hereford, the Nutters cafe looks a must (I LOVE places like that!), thanks for the tip, and what a beautiful cathedral. Please what are the shops like in Hereford, any unusual specialist ones to browse around? Any is parking easy? (silly I know, but I worry about things like that!)

JackieO Bless your lovely little DGD, I love it when my DS (now 10) tells me he loves me, though its never in public now. I agree about the royal wedding, we all need something positive to get this country out of the gloom.
