Ladyhawk - so sorry to hear about your friend.
Also sorry to hear that you and introuble have had problems with 'difficult' people at work. What's wrong with these people? Why can't they just slap a smile on and get on with it instead of making everyone else's lives awkward with their negativity. It's so draining!
ampersand - I mentioned the 28 years without a letter so DH didn't come across as a Henry Root character! :rotfl:
sparrer - great news about kefir! :jDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
August GC £0/£3000 -
Thanks Sparrer and Gingersnap
I just want to come in, get on with things and go home, but sometimes peopel make that a bit difficult. I just need to toughen up I guess, hopefully there will be desk moves soon and I will be sitting somewhere else.
I have only got a couple of things today so far.
1. I FINALLY took all my old statements and bills etc into work and put them in teh confidential waste bin. They've been in the house for ages waiting to be disposed of.
2. I am intending on organising my weekly chore rota to spread the housework out over the week so I dont dread doing it all in one night.
3. A lovely chicken salad wrap for lunch (home made of course)
4. A cream cheese bagal for breakie made by my friend at work
5. I am trying out a new mindset to not sweat the small stuff at work and just get on with things.
Thats me for now! Hope you all have a lovely day!0 -
5 for yesterday (Monday).
1) Cleaned all the kitchen (open shelving etc).
2) Did admin type jobs.
3) Went to mum and dad's for lunch and took my brother's dog for a walk.
4) The ex signed some paperwork without fussing! So that's the end of the PPI debt!!! :-) £3600 knocked off my remaining debt!
5) MrN came round. :-)0 -
Morning
Been really busy the last couple of days so not had time to post, just catching up with everyones posts so hugs to all who need them.
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Innocent delivered 16 of their veg pots into our office for the lunch I had won. So yummy free lunch and plus I got to take one home as well. Lots of happy people at work.:j
2. Friend let us borrow his van so we could pick up our new bathroom suite so saved on delivery charge, also the taps for the bath were missing from the order so they got refunded at full price which was good for us as we already had taps and were just going to ebay them.
3. After standing around in the cold lovely hot chilli and rice for dinner.
4. Huge pile of ironing done so basket now empty, well for today anyway will be full again by tomorrow.
5. Managed to get enough points on a survey site to cash in for another £15 voucher. Hopefully will be delivered in time for christmas, if not will do for a birthday present in the new year.
Home will be chaos for a week or so as we are having our bathroom ripped out today and the new one installed. Looking forward to a nice sparkly new bathroom but dreading the thought of having no washing facilities other than using the kitchen sink for a week:eek::eek:0 -
Hi all
Just a quick one as I need to dash out in a minute - not disappeared, just busy busy, will post my last couple of days pleasures asap.
Ampersand it would be FABULOUS if you could make it to the next meet - go to the thread and start entering possible dates for a pre-Christmas OS do!
See you all later or tomorrow xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Firstly, thanks to everyone for the supportive messages - they are really appreciated and when things seem to get on top of my I shall remember your words and feel better. (Well, eventually I'll feel better, after the feelings of insecurity, low self-esteem, etc
). Here's my five a day:
1. Reading your comments. It put a smile on my face. Thank you.
2. Finding a few good baking offers on at Mr M - always good.
3. Going around Mr T last night (to get a battery) and DH mentioning he'd rather have my homemade Christmassy snacks than anything pre-bought! Got to love that!
4. Being home at the time I'd normally get on the train, and being sat down with a cup of tea.
5. Children in Need is coming up this week, and work normally does something fun or special to mark it. The anticipation is building.
And a couple of additional ones:
6. Being given a couple of recipes - one for the Be-Ro book coconut tartlets (yum) and another for a gorgeous curry. The curry was made for a previous charity event at work and was lovely, and it has taken me this long to get the recipe. I think it'll be worth it though, as I always have problems with making curry from scratch.
7. Picking up a copy of the Be-Ro book for myself along with a piece of advice from a colleague. Some of the recipes are better in the 70s version than in the current one. I've taken that on board (as she does make really nice cakes) and will use my judgment.
I've no doubt DH will make me reverse on to the drive when he gets home - something I'm secretly dreading as it'll be dark. I did intend to reverse into a parking bay this morning at work, but as the car park was covered in thick frost I decided I'd drive in as you couldn't really see the lines clearly enough. Partway through the day a van was blocking me in, so I spent a bit of the afternoon fretting over the fact that I might be stuck at work until late waiting for them to move, but fortunately they were gone by the time I got out. Phew! I don't think there's much planned for tonight beyond a bit of TV and a bath for me, for which I shall be eternally grateful for the rest. In a bit I'll go and tidy the kitchen a little, then tidy round and light a scented candle ready for when DH gets home. He's still stressed with work, bless him, so I want him to feel comfortable when he gets in. Hope everyone has a nice night. (((hugs)))

My five for today:
1 Went for a 3 mile run in the park.
2 Saw 2 nuthatches feeding in the park.
3 Slight crisis on returning home,as there was no running water -maintenance works along the whole street.Luckily I had filled up a big thermoswith hot water on getting up,so was able to have a wash of sorts, before going into town for an appt.
4 The water's back on again fortuanately!
5 I have received a refund for this year's medical bills.
Frith great news about your debt!
Beachbaby I've never entered any running events,I don't have the nerve! What about you?
I'm a very slow runner:14-15 minute miles.I do find it relaxing and I've always run on my own.
Wishing everyone a good evening x0 -
Arrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh! Awful day at work! Its horrible when people are nasty for no reason............. STill, it could be worse I suppose! Just glad to be home for a comforting dinner of sausages in onion gravy and potatoes! Yum
On a sadder note, one of my friends called today to sad she'd sadly lost her baby at 20 weeks. I am gutted for her. It was her first and she was so excited. I will call her at the weekend I think and send a card.
1. Woman at work gave me a table runner which was lovely and looks great in my kitchen.
2. Same woman gave me some mini bags and ribbon. These will be perfect for my little bags of truffles at xmas time.
3. A new DVD came from love film so thats my Saturday night sorted
4. I have solved the problem of all the leftover cava by drinkign it. I needed it after the day at work and my friend's sad news
5. Discovered that my fave sandwich tortilla wraps are actually Mr T value ones which is great as they only cost 80p for 8!
Thats me for today, going to have a relax on the sofa and hope tomorrow is a better day xx0 -
So sorry to hear your friend's news Introuble. I'm sure she will appreciate the TLC.
1) Boxes of chocolates being given in at work for the staff. Some of them have had to go on the windowsill for the moment to spread it out a little.
2) Dahl and rice for tea - cheap and easy and it gets rid of all the wrinkly vegetables too. Opened one of our bottles of apples in white wine and brandy for pud and it was quite nice considering that the apples don't really have much taste by themselves.
3) Was asked to help a colleague with her college work. She's so determined and I'm honoured that she asked.
4) Rang Mum to catch up. We don't speak often and it works better that way but we had a nice chat.
Can't think of a 5th but it's been a reasonable day. Just not very exciting.0 -
just popping in quickly,
1. A lovely 'throw everything in before it goes off' pasta bake and garlic bread for tea.
2. Listening to OH watch holby city and go 'oh!' 'Ar' 'did you see that!'- He pretends he doesn't like these sorts of programmes, keeping up his manly reputation.
3. Prince William and Kate Middleton getting engaged, I'm not a fan of the royals as such but I love a good romance.
4. Getting loads of work done now the pup has settled. He has mastered the art of chewing his toys instead of my trouser leg meaning I can successfully move around without dragging him along with me!
5. Seeing the 'Coca-Cola-Holidays are coming advert' and texting my mum to let her know Christmas has arrived. She replied saying how much she misses living with me and my festive excitement.Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150
