5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Good evening all. Well, I've had an eventful day today. Had a tyre blow out on the outside lane of the dual carriageway, swerved right across the road and luckily managed not to soil my underwear!! Anyway, as with sparrer last week I saw the bright side.
1. No one was hurt.
2. I just had enough battery life on my phone to enable me to call the RAC.
3. Lovely RAC man called me and said he would be just 1/2 hour.
4. Job done really quick while he told me to go sit in his lovely warm van.
5. I coped!! (even though my first reaction was to call ex)
Anyway after forking out the best part of £200 for some new tyres all was well again. Other pleasures for today,
1. Last working day until Sunday.
2. A civil conversation with ex AND he is going to pay for the girls singing lessons when I told him just how much they cost.
3. A lovely curry for tea and sandwiches already made for morning.
4. Showered and hair straightened. Feeling human again.
5. Going to watch I'm a celebrity with my girlies.
The turkey stew is just some turkey thigh chunks and veggies which when cooked in the slow cooker just melts in the mouth. Served up with my favourite mash it makes fantastic comfort food.
Love to all. X0 -

Thank goodness you're all right! Have a lovely, peaceful evening with your girls - you deserve it after that!
Frith - having someone nice making you a cup of tea when you're stressed is one of the best ways of relieving the stress, in my experience! I hope MrN's son feels better soon.Back after a very long break!0 -
For today and yesterday:
1 Have tidied away the washing and have done the ironing.
2 Baked a pumpkin and ginger teabread and a savoury pumpkin pie. Both taste good.
3 Finally almost at the end of my book 'The Stand' by Stephen King.Enthralling to read,I can't wait to find out how it ends.
4 The flat is nice and warm.
5 Early night tonight.
Beachbaby well done on keeping your cool!
CCP hope tomorrow is a better day.

Apparently it is caused by having either very high arches or very low arches (mine are the latter... I have no arches to speak of at all) which causes tearing in the plantar muscle. I have orthotic insoles which help, but sometimes it still hurts.
It is very painful when it is flaring and I wouldn't wish any one to have it. I have a very high pain threshold, but it makes me want to cry sometimes.
Well it's very late. I should be asleep, there should be sandwich stuff for tomorrow but we've run out. I should have done some washing and some dishwashing. So feel pretty lazy.
1. Using up my toiletries - so good to be using stuff. It's hard going and I have given up with some bits (donated to friends and that). But overall feel I am beginning to get some control.
2. Nandos chicken (homemade... well a chicken quartered, marinated in Nandos marinade and roasted). Yum.
3. A relaxed cat, the warmth seems to drug them into a gentle sleep!

Primrose, hope your dentist visit went okay
crickett that sounds awful, wishing you a pain free weekend and more
Patchwork, a clean and tidy house and your DD cooking, it can't get better than that
mollie well done on DD walking, but now all your troubles start. Seems everyone is talking about the 'C' word, but it's far too early for me!
Kitchenbunny thank you very much. You're right, much needed and very much appreciated. The caramelised onion chutney sounds really good, I'll have to see if my local Mr M has some, it's only a small branch but you never know, they may just have it in for the 'C' word. I agree about brie, or a close second would be Stilton. When I was little we had a whole one every 'C' word and DM would hollow it out and pour port into it
CCP I'm so sorry you have this horrid thing. I don't like winter at all but can't imagine what you must go through. I hope you have a better weekend. The cake sounds adorable, and no, I don't think anyone could eat the penguins
Frith you're sensible getting three or four quotes, it's sounds a big job and prices can vary enormously. Perhaps see if you can look at other work each of the builders has done? Congrats on your sister getting the keys, it all seemed to go quite quickly in the end
beachbaby thank heavens you're okay, what a horrid thing to happen  but you sound as if you managed well. I find the best way is just to dust yourself off and start all over again, as the song goes, or we'd never get in a car again and can't simply afford to let that happen
marmite please can we have the recipe for pumpkin and ginger tea bread? It sounds positively
mineallmine you sound so relaxed I can almost feel it. Sometimes you just have to say blow the sandwich fillings and laundry, and enjoy the comfort of the cat. Good for you!
1. OT visited this am, she's arranging for various bits and pieces to be fitted around the house. Kitchenbunny sensed my mood, I'm feeling low and angry at the same time, being dragged into old age kicking and screaming . I'm absolutely hating it and won't give in, I'll continue to do all I can for myself and may even not use the aids when they arrive, but hopefully just the knowledge that they're there will make things feel more secure. However, I have to thank the NHS again as everything has happened so fast my feet are hardly touching the ground!
2. Phoned DD and discovered DGD2 had an orthodontist appt at the same time as my physio appt, in the same road. Picked them up and afterwards we all went to Maccie D's for a full-fat lunch. But it was okay, no calories as DD paid
3. Postie brought me 6 raspberry canes with a lovely note from the grower apologising for the delay (what delay? They said delivery in November), and including 6 strawberry plants. Excellent service
4. Yummy supper of jacket potato and whoopsied king prawns, 75p for a big tray which DD paid for so I ate half and froze half.
5. nsd, if I discount the petrol.
Night night, sweet dreams

Morning
Sorry to have been MIA for the last couple of days but between work and trying to organise things at work been meeting myself coming backwards.
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Lovely MIL letting us use their bathroom for hot showers
2. The pleasure of a lovely hot cup of tea when stood in the cold and wet waiting for a train (tea made at home so MSE)
3. Getting organised and batch cooking so not giving into the takeaway urge when coming in late.
4. Getting to know some of the people in the office I have been working in later this is part pleasure and part  as some are not so nice.
5. Its friday and we get to have a shower tonight as well:j:j:j
Hugs to all who need them0 -
After nearly a fortnight of feeling marvellous and singing the praises of 5htp, now I feel rubbish again! Never mind, here are my 5 for yesterday (Thursday).
1) Worked at school all day and it went pretty well.
2) Made tea for us and MrN's lot, again not knowing whether I was being pushy or not. It was quite nice, though!
3) Few phone calls with my sister who is now getting rather excited about having the keys to her new house. :-)
4) MrN called round.
But then the miserablism started. All I said was that yesterday my Grandad would have been 96 and that today I am going to see the solicitor. Quite simple sentences. But that starts you thinking "I wish Grandad was still here to tell about X, Y and Z" and "Oh my God! Back to court in December at which point the ex will get overnight contact with the boys".
As for the whole relationship thing - I just don't know having no point of reference. :-( And I feel stuck between 2 roles. I can either play the very unhappy wife role (1998-2005) and expect everything to go terribly wrong and just sit there quietly in case I do something to upset MrN (not that's he LIKE the ex!) Or my mind goes back to 1993-1997 when everything was lovely but of course I was 18-22 then, no children, at Uni and I think MrN might be a bit scared if I suddenly went back to that role! I suppose I'll keep playing the nervous wreck until I eventually find an iota of confidence from somewhere. :-(
P.S Crickett1234 - my best friend has plantar fasciitis and has been signed off work for quite a while. If you've any tips, I'll pass them on. She's tried physio, a podiatrist and insoles but nothing helps long term yet.0 -
Sorry Frith, both for your attack of the miserables as well as hints/tips re plantar fascitis. I haven't got any! I think it helps that I caught it early.
My pleasures...
1) I had to hike up a hill and down again to get back to my car yesterday after the trams weren't working... and I made it! I was puffed, but I managed.
2) I am actually getting on with work today. I have a MASSIVE to do list, but do seem to be making progress with it.
3) My headache from yesterday has gone.
4) My sore throat appears to have gone as well!
5) I get to spend Saturday with my goddaughter!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Mornign all! Well things are better at work now. Suddenly, the people that had been off with me are chatting again! I dont understand it, still, if it makes my life easier then its all ok!
My five for today are;
1. Special offer on washing detergent in A5DA. I now have a cupboard full of the stuff.
2. "Cocktail club" at my friends house tomorrow. Cheap evening out and great fun!
3. I have designed a new piece of training for my work and I am really proud of it. I even worked out how to use PowerPoint!
4. I have finaly got my knitting back out so I can get on with that at lunchtime
5. Some coppies of Prima magazine that a friend's mother gave her that she didnt want! Result!
All in all, not a bad day! I was in the office at 7.30 am so I can leave at 4! That will get he home nice and early and I can get a wander round the charity shops on my way home.
Fingers crossed the day goes quick!
I am at work so I cant type for long or comment on other posts but good wishes to all!!!!!!!! :T0 -
Today's:
1. Mist slowly clearing. I think the sun is up there somewhere!
2. Commitment I had this morning was cancelled at short notice so I have some free time.
3. Lawnmower has just been serviced by somebody who comes to the house to do it, so OH
doesn't have all the hassle of dismantling it and getting a hernia by having to lift it into the
car to go away to a workshop somewhere.
4. Kind neighbour has just given us a tray full of his home grown apples.
5. Attending Concert tonight - cheap entry and within walking distance of home so car can stay in the garage!0
