    Evening all,

    1. Washed some work stuff already - so I have that smug feeling come tomorrow that I am not rushing around. The fact I have not done the basics (like underwear!) is very telling!!! Priorities or what!
    2. Sausage n mash this evening with onion gravy. Real comfort food. Sausages all from the butcher and we've now decided pork and leek are the best - however as the bags are not labelled we could be guessing totally wrong! Lovely dinner.
    3. Dropped a bag off to the charity shop today, all different bits and bobs. Let a couple of cookery books go - I so often find recipes on here (as above!), or online at other sites, or from borrowed books from the library - that keeping neglected ones is daft. Plus I'd much rather a quid be in the pocket of a local hospice charity.
    4. My local library - I could scream about this from the hilltops - I ordered my books online, receive a text when they are available (how very efficient) and I have the Nigella Kitchen one and the Sally Bee - both new, both free. If you have not registered at your local library, go do it Monday! Use them or lose them. Ooh rant over!
    5. A two and a half hour kip this afternoon. It was bliss. The cat was most pleased with this unexpected day time sleep and accompanied me. Feel so much better.

Keep warm everyone that cold weather tis on its way. And this preparing for winter thread has been handy - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2714253

    Evening all,

hope you are all having a good day (except CCP who clearly isn't - sorry to hear it - my team also lost today... to a team that they should have whipped).

    1) A Freecycler stopped by to pick up a steering lock

    2) Dropped of some side tables for an eBayer - they were nice but my flat was just to smal to keep them

    3) Made a roasted veggie lasagne for supper. I had a bag of roasted vegetables lurking in the freezer and didn't know what to do with them and thought this might be a good way to use them up. Hope it turns out ok... My freezer definitely needs to be defreosted but still has waaaaay to much in it.

    4) Snooze this afternoon. I am absolutely shattered!

    5) Got a call from the furniture people who are restoring my diningroom table and chairs. Unfortunately the table was blistered during the process which they did warn me could happen. Anyway they said tht they have a very similar oak table that I could have instead for the same price as it would have cost to restore mine. The added bonus is that mine only had two legs and this new one has 4. Anyway they will bring it round for me to look at tomorrow.

    Night night everyone.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Mine for today so far:

    1. Took the children to the little local library this morning and lovely librarian helped DD find lots of books for her Elizabethan's topic at school. She also ordered other books for her free of charge (aren't libraries wonderful?!). Only worrying thing was hearing the librarian say that due to funding cuts of at least 30% the library will now only open 3 days a week and that from next year it could close unless they find enough volunteers to run it instead! As minallmine said, use it or lose it!!!

    2. I spent a happy hour or two in the kitchen with DS this afternoon baking pumpkin and ginger teabread (thanks Marmiterulesok so much! It smells delicious) and then a recipe from Jamie's 30 minute meals. The filo pastry tart with feta cheese and spinach. We really enjoyed cooking it, and it looked as if it turned out well despite being an odd recipe to make, but I am not totally sure about the taste of the end result. A lot of effort for what was a fairly ordinary tart we though. But on the positive side, we all enjoyed sitting down together to eat it with some salad and chat over the dinner table.

    3. Am enjoying working through my self-help manual and think it is going to really help me. Its also great to be reading something academic again, I can almost feel my brain stepping up a notch already!

    4. Played a game of the old favourite "flounders" with the kids last night. Only cost £1.99 from Home Bargains and they loved it! Brought back happy memories of my childhood.

Thanks Sparrer for the recipe for tea bread, I am soaking fruit as I write! :)

Really hope you soon feel loads better CCP. Sending you a hug. By the way, if you still have any butternut squash left after trying the teabread recipe you might try Nigella's butternut squash and sweet potato soup. Really delicious and easy (you don't peel the squash before roasting in the oven with the sweet potato and some onion, sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg) and now a family favourite.
  • 1. Dog is asleep laid on me upside down with his head under the laptop. It's absolutely hilarious!

    2. Taking advantage of boots extra points and sorting OH's xmas shopping. Managed to get it to £100 so got £30 worth points and 2 free gifts and I only spend £34 the rest was his!

    3. Toy story colouring book freebie and a very decent size sample of bakers dog treats.

    4. Two good homemade healthy meals today both from freezer so minimal effort maximum taste.

    5. OH finishing work early so I went upstairs to get on with my OU work and I fell asleep. Had a lovely nap and OH was really nice because he thought I had been working really hard. Be rude to tell him the truth....

1 Got a letter from my Mum.

2 Had a bit of a clearout in the kitchen to make room for my lovely Kenwood mixer.Plus some housework.

Evening everyone - it's nearly Sunday morning in fact!
Struggling a bit the last few days - I think the cutting down of my anti depressants has caught up with me. I've been feeling headachey, light headed/spaced out, and definitely a tad irritable/down. Going to see my GP next week to see what can be done to make me feel more human. In the meantime - not being able to stand it any more - I've gone back to original dosage and feel slightly better this evening.
Really struggling to think of 5, but here goes:-

1 Starting to feel a bit better ( see above)
2 Have made the decision not to go to stay with my dysfunctional family at Christmas - I always end up feeling stressed after a few days closeted in with them. I've invites to go to friends locally and I can please myself the rest of the time :j
3 Indulged myself having a crafting day - very absorbing, good for my concentration (or lack of, at the moment :D)
4 Have applied for voluntary redundancy - I'll just about manage financially and it'd be worth it to have that monkey off my back
5 2 more days before I have to go back in to work.

Ive not caught up with posts just recently but hope everyone is well

    Pam x

A really tiring day - they all seem to be like that this week - but little achieved.
(((Hugs))) to everyone who is feeling low at the mo, hope you'll soon be feeling brighter.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the tea loaves turned out okay!

    my 5
    1. Decided grey/black/brown are not going to take over my winter wardrobe yet again but can't afford a new coat so I'm scouring the charity shops for any brightly coloured scarves, gloves and and other accessories that are eye-catching
    2. Kept busy in the house so I didn't put the heating on (and Mr MatAlans long johns keep me really cozy and warm :o)
    3. Hm pizza for lunch made with some picked-over chicken carcass, a rasher of bacon and a wrinkly tomato. Plenty for one and very tasty
    4. Went to a jazz evening at the local RAF base with some friends. A good evening, super band, and all proceeds to RBL so lots of generous donations :D
    5. Very heavy fog on the 3 mile run home so tucked in behind another car and let them lead.

    Night night, sleep tight

CCP - sister has the keys and is moving completely next weekend!

    5 for today (Saturday).

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Went into town for my dad's birthday present. Sadly, got back to my little car (18 years old but much loved) and someone had smashed into the back of it, ruining the bumper and crinkling the metalwork. :-( It's still perfectly drivable but will need some tape over the sharp bits of bumper. Such a shame, there wasn't a mark on it before and I've managed to drive since I was 17 without ever knocking anything and now this happens!

    3) Wore my dress from the 2nd hand shop and new boots to mum and dad's. I NEVER dress up so that was a bit strange!

    4) Dad's birthday so had a 4 course lunch including venison.

    5) Went to my sister's new house for bucks fizz.

    6) Went round to MrN's with sons for a Chinese and to watch a film.

    7) MrN came round here later and has just gone. :-)
  • Morning all. My built in 5.30am alarm is still working so I've been up a while. Had a horrenous evening yesterday. Husband has finally admitted the reason he left was because he doesn't love me, hasn't done for a while now and didn't want to patronise me any more - Nice! Just wish he'd said that in the first place instead of trying to put the blame on to me. I think a tiny part of me always held out some kind of hope until then. Anyway I will find my 5 pleasures in the pain, (god, that sounds dramatic!)
    1. A walk into town followed by tea and toasted tea cakes in a cafe with DD2.
    2. All my ironing and shopping done by 9.30am. (These early mornings have some advantages).
    3. Homemade chilli for tea. I put in some lentils and peppers and DD1 loved it. There was enough to freeze for another day.
    4. Lent my sister a dress I bought for £5 for a christmas party she is going to. She tried it on and her daughter said she looked stunning.
    5. Finding out the above was horrible and I feel like I've been cheated for a long time now, but after the tears I think it is a relief to finally know something which I had suspected for a while now. Maybe now I can finally move on. I have erased his number from my phone so I am not tempted to send him any messages. I WILL GET THROUGH THIS.
    Love to all. X
