  • Hugs, Beachbaby, what a shock for you but as you say, although hideously hard at the time, it is better to know the truth so you can begin to move on. Hope today is a better one for you.xx
  • Thanks, Gingersnap, I hope so too. Going to make sure he collects the last of his furniture from the house, then have as little contact with him as possible. Just annoyed he made me believe it was my fault for all this time. I now know how much better off I am without him. I deserve better!
  • Hugs beachbaby. You now have a clean slate to start fresh.

    1. Nice sleep. Yawn, stretch!
    2. Blissfully quiet outside.
    3. My weekly do stuff during the week list - this helps minimise the amount of running around you do at the weekend. I've not quite cracked it but it's a start.
    4. Lovely new lamp from John Lewis - http://www.johnlewis.com/154179/Style.aspx
    5. The sun is out!
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • Morning, everyone. Yesterday was off the map busy so I didn't really get a chance to post. Here goes though, with yesterday's pleasures:

    1. We had an unexpected visitor to the garden, who stayed quite a while and charmed my mum and sister (and my dad!) when they came to visit: a green woodpecker, bold as brass, about 4 foot away from us on the grass. :)
    2. I made a lovely traybake cake and covered it with chocolate frosting and minstrels. Also, I unwrapped some of those chocolate coins you can get for Christmas and stuck some of those on the top. It looks great! I didn't have the energy to make the Alien cake as I intended, but this was a good alternative with low effort.
    3. Mum helped me make some special sausage rolls as a dry run for Christmas. Sheets of puff pastry, then sausagemeat mixed with homemade bacon stuffing and baked. Mmm, now I shall definitely make them just before the big day as they don't really take any effort at all!
    4. We went to the cinema and saw Skyline last night. While I can't say it was the greatest film I've ever seen, it was entertaining and jumpy, and was a nice change. :)
    5. At heart, I do like to put a good face on things. So, I finally bought a bottle of expensive(ish) but the best foundation I've found as a treat. It'll last me about 6 months, so it's perfect as I won't have to buy another. :)

mineallmine - The sun isn't out here, but I don't think it'll be long. :) Love the lamp!
    beachbaby - (((big hugs)))
Frith - mm, venison. There's nothing wrong in dressing up every now and again. :)
sparrer - the jazz evening sounds fab. I wish I could find things like that around here. DH loves a bit of jazz. :)
pam - sometimes you have to make decisions like that. (((hugs)))

Well, today I've got some more baking to do. I've got some breakfast bars to make, and also a chicken and ham pie to have for tea. We'll have the leftover pie tomorrow night, I think. Nothing else planned for today - interruption, the sun has come out! - whoo! - and DH is bringing me a cup of tea. Take care everyone (((hugs))) to those in need. :)

    KB xx

  • Just wanted to pop in and give hugs to beachbaby ((())). That must've been so distressing to hear him say that. But you are right - you will get through this. Look how far you've come so far. x

(((Beachbaby))) it's good that you're sharing your feelings. There's a saying 'hand it over', I used to wonder what it meant but today I understand it, and that's just what you're doing. Wishing you more peaceful days, each one making you a little stronger. You really are doing amazingly well. Love, Sparrer x

    Afternoon everyone.

My apologies for my grumpiness last night - I'm finding the current dull, grey weather really hard going and all the little things are starting to get to me much more than they usually would. Thank goodness for this thread, to keep me looking for the positives. :)

mineallmine - you're quite right, that is a lovely lamp. I'd like something similar, if I had a table to put it on.

beachbaby - big hugs to you, and well done for finding five pleasures after that.

Frith - :j for your sister - I hope she's very happy in her new home.

frugalpam- I'm sorry you're struggling with cutting down on the tablets. I hope your GP can help you sort things out. I hope you get your voluntary redundancy, if you want it - one less thing to worry about it always good.

Ginger Snap - I used to love flounders as a kid, too. Thanks for the memory. :)

Ladyhawk - can I ask which team you support? I've got a guess, based on yesterday's results, and I'm curious to know if I've guessed right. ;)

Caterina - thanks for your response to my post - you did make me feel better. :) I don't think there's a problem with sound insulation between my flat and the one upstairs - I barely knew the previous two lots of occupants were there - the current couple just seem to be unusually heavy-footed. I'll have to have a word with them if they keep being as noisy as they were last night, but I'm hoping not to as it seems a bit mean asking them to move more quietly in their own home. :o Thanks for your best wishes for my sister's BF - I'll give her a call later and see how he's getting on.

One late pleasure for last night - looking through a gift catalogue that I received with my meat order. One of the things that caught my eye was a sterling silver ketchup bottle top, engraved with your initials, for the bargain price of £49.50. These people clearly live in a different world to mine!

Have a nice Sunday, all - I'll be back with pleasures later (I hope).
Back after a very long break!

Getting over the rigors of yesterday's "spendathon". Went to town to spend my eBay money; bought the pants half of the M&S thermal vest & pants set so I've now got the complete set!! At £36 for both vest and pants it was expensive but I've no doubt when the temperature doesn't rise above zero they'll be worth every penny. We also bought a few treats from the White Company  and got 3 meals (for 2) for £5 from M&S which I tough wasn't too excessive.
  • Just a quick thank you for the messages of support. Good job I've got my girls on this thread behind me! Having a good day so far.
  • Have a hug from me too beachbaby!

    1) Had no sleep last night due to silly cold but once I was up and about it was manageable.
    2) Sunday School. We did a brief 'listening' bit on the fact that Jesus got told off for having a good time sometimes instead of following the rules and then spent the whole morning playing board games and Pick up Sticks. There were twenty children and five adults in one tiny little room but it was fantastic.
    3) Used chicken stock to make baked rice for lunch. Left over jam tarts for afters, so not much cooking going on here.
    4) Am just about to start sewing up the last seams on my free jumper - though I can see that if it's a complete mess, I will be unpicking it just as quickly.
    5) DS is out making himself useful on his Sunday job (he is saving for a laptop) and DD is making a card for a friend from scraps. I like fact that they are both sensible (so far) with money.

    Have a peaceful afternoon.
