Before I talk about anything else I wish to send a big (((((((HUG))))))) to beachbaby, it must be very hard for you now but (even if you don't believe it now) you will move out of this dark space and into a better, more rewarding and satisfying life. It is no life, to live with someone who does not love us. Meanwhile please be as kind as you can with yourself, surround yourself with warm, positive and loving people, friends and family, and also allow yourself to grieve - very important, now that you know exactly where you stand.

Sending you warm thoughts and wishes for a lovely future!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - All day out with DH

2 - Even if we had a mad dash, we made it (with half minute to spare) to the cinema.

3 - And we watched the film The American, with George Clooney, for free (free tickets won online). Honestly, it was ok-ish but nothig to write home about. Very improbable, some gratuitous sex scene (time-filler!) and a weak storyline. If you are a fan of G Clooney then it is ok (I am not - more of a Johnny Depp girl, me!) because there is a lot of him, in the nude too. Looks ok, I suppose....Oh dear, am I being ungrateful for the freebie? No, not really, just glad we did not pay for it!

4 - Lovely Chinese meal at our favourite restaurant in Soho, it has changed hands after more than 20 years but the new chef is cooking the same favourites, and still nice! Also very reasonably priced.

5 - Walked from Leicester Square over the bridge to the South Bank where we decided to walk all the way to London Bridge along the riverfront.

6 - Stopped at the Oxo restaurant on 8th floor to ask about booking the restaurant for DH's birthday party. Waaaaaaaaay too expensive for the party but it was nice to look at the panorama from up there!

7 - Found a much more reasonably priced venue with much nicer food (especially for vegetarians and vegans!). No views over the Thames and the City from the top of a tower but much nicer, simpler and less pompous service! This one is a very strong possibility.

8 - We both resisted the temptation to buy a pricey cup of tea/coffee and cake at the Tate Modern cafe, instead kept walking and came home, where DH is now putting the kettle on (cheaper and comfier!). And I have some Jaffa Cakes stashed in the cupboard as a treat to go with the drinks. This is the life! :-)

Have a good evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Thanks, Caterina. I do feel ok (at the moment). Sort of relieved now. I have had a little dull day today, but I've felt fine. I know I have all the support on here - us girls on here are a force to be reckoned with! Once again I have five pleasures,
    1. Waking up too early but making scrambled egg on toast for me and DD2. It was delicious and creamy.
    2. Coffee with my sister and her family, starting a christmas jigsaw, fire on and listening to christmas music on the TV.
    3. Sitting down to lunch with my fab girls.
    4. Having a good clear out of the shed and I've put some items on freecycle.
    5. A calm conversation with husband about him collecting DD1. Told him I was fine and I just wished he had been man enough to admit things sooner and that he had been spineless! All very calmly though. Felt quite in control. Also erased his facebook log in details from my laptop. I had been very tempted (in my bitter moments) to post something as if it had come from him. I know that would have been very childish and never did it. I dont even care now, so again I felt more in control by doing that.
Love to all. Wrap up warm, it's going to be a cold week but always a warm welcome on this thread. XXX

Wow, bechbaby, well done! On account of keeping calm, on account of not posting on Facebook (ohmygoodness the self control! I would not have resisted I'm afraid! I admire you!), but especially on account of finding pleasures in your life. Keep it up sister, we are all here for you when you need to let off steam! Have a great evening (((HUGS)))

    Evening all,

Beachbaby - well done for getting through these dark days. Stay strong!:j

Caterina - I love the Oxo Tower... but it is so rediculously expensive that I have only been there 3 times (and only when someone else was paying!) The view is just gorgeous.

PQ - hope your cold is better and that you get a good night sleep tonight.

Schrodie - sounds like you will be nice and toasty in your new purchases when the snow comes later in the week!:snow_grin

CCP - I'm a rugby fan and support the Springboks:T, who should not have lost Scotland:(!

KB - Sounds like you have had a baking frenzy. The chocolate cake sounds like a fabulous alternative to the alien cake!

    1) Cooked a gorgeous roast beef dinner for myself. Followed by gingerbread pudding.

    2) The furniture guy dropped of my new table. This one is solid oak so even better than original one they were stripping down for me.

    3) Speaking to my mum on the phone. Sadly my dad is unwell again with yet another chest infection which is a worry.

    4) Chatting with my friend in Oz on Facebook

    5) Afternoon kip on the sofa while watching the Simpsons. I have a really busy week ahead so it was really needed.

    Night all - sleep well.

    Evening all.

Ladyhawk - I don't really follow rugby so I hadn't seen that result - it is a bit  though - I'm not surprised you were disappointed by that! I hope your dad feels better soon.

beachbaby - I'm very impressed by your calmness - good for you! :T

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Bread and smoked salmon for a late breakfast. I thought I'd better make the most of it. :)

    2) Spoke to both my parents on the phone.

    3) And heard that my sister's BF is out of hospital and recovering nicely from having his tooth removed.

    4) Had a nice walk along the beach - it was a bit chilly, but not unpleasant.

    5) Then popped into the little market on the pier and bought a new handbag, to replace my current one which is literally coming apart at the seams, for £4.50.

    6) Deciding not to go out to the weekly pub quiz tonight, and staying inside in the warm instead.

Have a nice evening / night, all. :)
Back after a very long break!

Carrie - The Oxo Tower is a fancy restaurant on the south side of the Thames. It's has gorgeous views over the Thames, towards St Pauls etc. It is Uber expensive though.
