Evening peeps.

beachbaby - I hope you're enjoying a nice, peaceful evening, and doing something just for you. Hugs are drifting in your direction. :)

GirlySquare - poor you, catching two nasty bugs at the same time. I hope you feel much better soon.

Caterina - I'm so sorry to hear how your generosity and kindness has had such an unpleasant outcome. Hugs to you.

I have to confess that, once again, I'm struggling to think of many pleasures. I'm really struggling at work - there's just too much for one person to do - and my manager's 'solution' was to suggest I cancel the time off I have planned for the week after next, so that I can do more work instead. I should be used to her insensitive behaviour by now, but she can still leave me  at times. (Of course, I decided not to take up her suggestion. ;))

Then, when I got home, I found that my poor puddy tat isn't feeling well, and couldn't even manage a purr when I stroked him - usually the only time he stops purring is when he's asleep. :( He's curled up asleep on the sofa now, so I can only hope he feels better when he wakes up.

A few nice things, though:

1) The sun actually shone today. :)

2) Had a brief chat to my mum on the phone this evening - mums are great when you're feeling down (and at all other times too, of course).

3) Picked another bowlful of tomatoes.

4) Putting the central heating on this evening. I'm telling myself it's just for the cat's benefit, as he was shivering when I got home, but I admit I'm rather enjoying the extra warmth myself.

Oh well, that's one more than yesterday, anyway. :o

Very rapid ETA:

5) Mogget's just woken up, and purred when I went to see how he was. I guess he can't be that ill after all. :D

Evening all,

Firstly Caterina - sorry that you have a bad experience with your visitor. I don't think that I would have been nerly as polite as you have been and would not have thought twice about sending him to a hostel for the weekend. Maybe I'm just really mean - but as been said about me on a number of occassions - I do not suffer fools gladly!

CCP - Sorry to hear about puddy tat. Hope he feels better soon. Sorry that your boss is so insensitive - what a rediculous suggestion to make. It's almost as bad as one of my former manager's suggestions to a colleague when she told him that she was drowning... "get a smaller notebook and make sure that you always only 1 page of priorities" . Yes she found that partiularly helpful as well! This was also he mad who phone me the last week that I worked for him to tell me how completely !!!! I was and when I responded that I was proud of all I have acheived and that I was going to leave with my head held high, he said "oh bully for you" and put the phone down on me! Silly man.

1) Was videoed for one of our international client's global CSR day for their intranet site. I am not sure how many countries it was broadcast to but it went relatively well.

2) Yummy simple supper of baked potatoes with cheese and prawns.

3) Chatted with my dad on the phone as my mum was out this evening and I still have not managed to talk to her to say happy birthday for yesterday.

4) Cuddles from the kitty

5) Nice (small) bottle of cider while watching the gorgeous men on NCIS... phwoar!

I got some bad news though when I was talking to my dad though. My mum has found a lump in her breast. My dad was a doctor and he is really worried about this one (she has had lumps before but they were always just cycsts)and said "she can't dodge bullets forever". They are going to see the surgeon on Monday and she is likely to have surgery next week. So all in all a very worrying situation.

Night all.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Ladyhawk - best wishes to your mum - I really hope it's not what it seems to be or, if it is, that it's easy to treat. Hugs to you, too, at what must be a difficult time.
Back after a very long break!
• Good evening all. Caterina, hope all goes well for you this weekend. What a shame you find yourself in this situation following all your good intentions. Ladyhawk, hope all is ok with your mum. It must be a very worrying time for you. Well, I have been out at 'work' tonight so it has been a bit easier for me. I say 'work' because I am lucky enough to love my job- I am a support worker. All my clients have been so fantastic recently and are a huge support. I spent the last hour tonight having milky coffee and good conversation with my last lady, she is like a second mum to me. So even though this evening has felt quite strange I also feel very blessed. My blessings for today,
1. My girls being grown up enough to leave the house ok this morning after I had gone to work. I have a note on the back of the front door with a checklist for turning off the tv, lights, straighteners etc. I dont normally leave before them but it has been unavoidable the last couple of days.
2. Meeting with a second solicitor. The first one I saw didn't inspire confidence- this one did.
3. DD2 bringing in the washing without being asked when she got home from school (she's only 12) and saving it from a good drenching. I was soooo grateful. She's a little star!
4. Feeling ok about this evening and goodnight text messages from DDs.
5. A slice of one of my clients' 100th birthday cake washed down with a glass of Pinto Grigiot just as I'm typing this.
Oh, and one extra one - just knowing I have a lot of people who genuinely care for me. Also the care and support from people on this thread, it's invaluable.
Best wishes to all. X

villagelife congrats on clearing the ironing - I have admit I do as little as poss these days, perhaps a couple of items a month :o. There's something special about picking flowers you've grown yourself. You've done well to still have some in the garden
Frith pleased you're feeling better. I like Russel Brand too, it's my sort of humour :)
ampersand the mogs are cute, I wish mine would be as friendly to each other!
mineallmine dogs are such huggy creatures aren't they? And never in a bad mood, bless 'em. Unlike cats who seem to enjoy letting you know who's boss!
Tealady thank you :), we're getting there slowly. Well done on the bargains, yummy steak and pressies for your DD
GirlySquare I'm pleased the nausea has gone, hope the cold goes quickly now. Congrats on the allotment, but don't go rushing in til you feel better :)
zara well done on being positive about college, with that attitude the world's your oyster :D. Agreed, everything is beautiful at this time of year - even if it does mean winter's on its way :(
CCP sorry the manager is so insensitive , some of them forget where they came from, no-one ever started at the top and need reminding of that occasionally. Mums and mogs are far more important though, it's lovely you have them to speak to and cuddle :)
Ladyhawk I'll say one for your Mum and keep everything x'd that she'll get a good result from the op. Being videoed and it going out internationally - I don't call that boring! ;)
beachbaby how lovely to have a client you can spend time with when you need to. And good for your DD being helpful :). Hope you sleep well

4. a beautiful day, did the last of the autumn pruning
5. an evening with friends

I could have sworn I wrote my 5 for yesterday but I can't see them so I'll try again!

5 for Wednesday:

1) Did lots of washing and changed the beds.

2) Felt a bit better.

3) My sister came round for a cup of tea.

4) MrN came round. :-)

Well, only 4 but it wasn't a bad day. Hope last night went OK for you, Beachbaby.
• CCP glad to hear your puddy tat is purring, as for your boss...some people
Ladyhawk hope all is well with your mum
beachbaby glad you had a nice evening
natlie welcome to the thread, some lovely pleasures there

1) porridge in bed this morning
2) cuddles from dd before she went off to school
3) watching the Commonwealth Games especially the synchronised swimmers winning their medals, so graceful and so athletic
4) reading your posts
"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright
• Caterina - Really feeling for you at the moment with your 'guest'. It's so unfair that this has happened to you when all you were doing was showing generosity and compassion. As Girlysquare already said, it sounds like he's incredibly thick-skinned, so much so that he's probably one of those people that NEVER understand that they've actually done anything wrong! Impossible situation for you.
zarazara - it's great to hear that things seem to be so much more positive for you at the moment. Great news too that you are inspired by your college course. :T
CCP - (((hugs))) to you for the tough time you're having at work at the moment. Not good, especially as you were only recently unwell.
Ladyhawk - (((hugs))) for you at this very worrying time. I hope that your mum gets good results and that everything will be okay.
beachbaby - glad your night went better than anticipated. Well done for pulling more strength from within - you should feel proud of yourself for getting through this as you have been ((())). :)

Here are mine for today:
1) A nice day - managed to get the washing dry on the line and the lawn mown.
2) A NSD
3) Another Gael Garcia Bernal DVD from Lovefilm. Getting all flushed cheeks and silly grins looking forward to watching it :o
4) Someone on here gave a very simple recipe for tea bread. made some this afternoon and it was very nice.
5) All packed up and looking forward to spending next week in the Yorkshire Dales with my lovely mum coming with us.

See you all next week - wishing everyone loads of good pleasures and hugs to anyone who needs them.
