5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
here's my five for the day:
1. Going into work!
2. My hair is getting in better condition. Normally I have to wash it every day or I get grumpy (go fig!) but I'm on the 2nd day without washing, it isn't overly greasy and I'm not as grumpy as normal!
3. Meatball subs last night being a great success!
4. Going around Mr M today at lunch without buying anything, just as a legstretch and to see what offers are on.
5. A No Spend Day.
Well, kinda feeling a bit tired at the moment, but that's only to be expected after the busy day. I was on holiday on Friday, so back in the office today was busy - great.Didn't really notice the passage of time. DH is off work poorly, bless him, so it was good to ring him and see how he was doing and when I got home, seeing him - so nice. He looks a little better, but he's still coughing good and proper. Chicken curry tonight, and then feet up with a bit of telly. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

1. realising that cloudshave silver linings
2. speaking to DS2 on the phone
3. delicious coffee at coffee time this morning
4. DH ringing home from work to check on something
I always love hearing his voice
5. A rose bush in the garden has 3 beautiful blooms, all of which survived yesterdays rain."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
sparrer - I hope your dog will be okay. Gentle but warm hugs for you both.
Frith - I so feel for you with your ear pain. I hope they can sort it out quickly.
beachbaby - More hugs to you. Hoping that you had a better day today.
CCP - I'm sorry about your Grandmother's disappointment. It' so crushing to lose the house of your dreams. There is another one out there though - and she will find it. And it'll be even more perfect. ((()))
Caterina - I'll join the two week floor club (and then some!). I legged it from the Flylady thread some time ago. There are worse things than crumbs between the toes! :rotfl:
Pam - well done on the weight loss. Keep it nice and steady and it'll stay off :T
kitchenbunny - were your meatball subs from The Takeaway Secret by any chance?
Here are mine for today:
1) The rain held off for Sports Club
2) Found one of the Toys on DS2's xmas list in a sale in Tesco.
3) Another one of his xmas presents from ebay came today - I am making good headway!
4) Made sausage and egg Muffins from The Takeaway Secret book - so much nice than MacD's and so much healthier.
5) Finally got hold of a copy of Philippa Gregory's latest book from the library - another un-put-downable read from her. Glad to see it's the first in a proposed series too.
Hugs to everyone who is feeling unwell and/or unhappy.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Evening all -
Beachbaby - sorry that your daughter said such a mean thing. If she is anything like most other teenage girls she didn't mean it and said it to hurt you, without realising how much it hurt. I hope you have both made up by now.
Sparrer - hope the hound is feeling a little better
And to everyone else who is feeling snuffly, sneezy and coughy (stop it - Doc says they don't like it!)
Bad news this morning - my car wouldn't start. For some reason it has immobilised itself so I had to get it towed to the local VW garage... the bill is £450 to date with no guarentee of a solution! EEP!!
1) My boss being very undestanding that I was going to be very late into work
2) Really nice recovery man come to my rescue and declared that I was one of the most interesting people he has recued in a long time! It's really funny becaus eI think of myself as being interminably dull!
3) Finding out an ex colleague is 16 weeks pregnant. Poor thing found out a couple of days before her wedding and spent most of her honeymoon throwing up!
4) Seeng my doctor this morning - the NHS is a wonderful institution
5) Lunch at home - HM pepper and butternut soup with HM bread.
Night night everyone
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Hi, Blimus - the idea was, but I just kind of fudged the recipe with pork mince, breadcrumbs, mixed herbs, a clove of garlic and an egg, and just a tin of tomatoes simmered with garlic and herbs until thick. Then topped with a bit of cheese in a baguette. Nice!

CCP how sad to hear about your gran not managing to get her little house in the country, sorry for that, I hope that she finds a nice place soon.
Glad to hear that I am not the only one who was scared by the flylady thread, I went on the website and nearly had a heart attack just reading all what one is supposed to do in the home every day - I have definitely NOT been handed down the housework gene! However I am slightly envious (in the best possible way) of those who do manage to keep their homes neat and clean every day, if not for any other reason just because it would save me a fortune in cleaners' bills - just hired a new one for occasional duties (including kitchen floor washing). Having said that, when I was not working, or just working a few hours a week from home, I did manage to do most of my own cleaning, with a little (very little!) help from the rest of the family!
I am tired and quite disgruntled tonight, there is someone in my life at the moment who is really bugging me, too long a tale to spin here now, but I can feel a rant coming &%$!!~#!!! So I am off to bed instead and will try to sleep over it and in Scarlett O'Hara famous words:
Tomorrow is another day!:)Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all. Posting a bit late tonight - kids gone to bed. Frith hope you are feeling a bit better now the tablets have kicked in.
Not the best day today- bit of a sobfest on and off. Things seem to have settled down (for now) at last. Anyway, I have managed to scrape about to find some blessings,
1. Work being incredibly understanding that I couldn't bring myself to go in today.
2. A sunny day. Washing dried on the line and I was able to walk into town for my eye test.
3. Bars of chocolate and watching 'The Middle'.
4. Doing a little bit more tidying and getting rid of some clutter. Still can't get rid of the wedding album though. What has anyone else done with theirs? Bonfire night coming up!!
5. Enquiring about a new job. (Need to speak to someone later in the week). I love the job I do, but this one is closer to home with more regular hours I think. A change might do me good.
Best wishes to all. X0 -
Frith hope you're feeling a little better, pleased you have your sister and Mr N to help out
houe elf it's ages since we had a log fire but I used to use paper stuffed in loo roll middles to start, then kindling, then the smaller logs and once they were well alight put one or two bigger logs on as and when needed. Hope you get some warmth from it soon, it really is a lovely thing to sit and gaze into in the chilly evenings. Feel better soon
Caterina the weekend sounds good, nice to have time to yourself to do whatever you want and recharge the batteries
villagelife so pleased you have electricity, hope it stays on now it's getting colder. Well done on the ebay sales, one day I'll pluck up courage to become a seller
CCP the smoked salmon breakfast sounds delicious, as does the hm pie. So sorry to hear your grandmother has lost the house, as you say there may be a reason but it's horrible when that happens. I hope she finds something even nicer
Pam so please your mog isn't sneezing any more. Well done on the weight loss, what an acheivement :T
Kitchenbunny congratulations! Going round Mr M's and not spending - in my house that's called that a miracle. Hope your DH gets better soon, I think a good curry always helps
zara how lovely to be able to find the silver lining, and to be able to speak to your DS and DH during the day. That's really special
Blimus thanks for the info on the muffins, I have the book and keep meaning to try things but seems a waste for just me. Well done on finding the pressies, nothing like a good find in a sale
Ladyhawk so sorry about the car, they're wonderful until they go wrong. Hope the bill stops there. You're certainly not dull, it's lovely to hear about your work and travels, and knitting, and jam making, and baking, and growing, and...exhausting, but lovely to hear about!
my 5
1. Thank you all for your kind words, muttley seems stable so I'm holding back on the vet for now and treating the him as I was advised before. I think there are places which help those on a pension but I'll only enquire if I really have to
2. A mild night last night, sat dowstairs with the dog well wrapped up and didn't need to put the heating on
3. Lovely friend came by unexpectedly with a fish and chip supper
4. nsd
5. Watching the Commonwealth games throughout the day
Night night, sweet dreams

Thank you for the kind thoughts, ear on the mend now but not quickly enough for my liking!
Here are my 5 for today (Monday).
1) Having a tidy and cleaning the stairs and kitchen floor.
2) Speaking to my sister on the phone a few times. She has put in 2 offers on the house she likes - both rejected. She has a bit more in reserve though...
3) Cooking tea for next door's and everyone appearing to like it. I made a pie like I make for us at home - yesterday's chicken and gammon chopped up, peas and sweetcorn, a tin of cheapy chicken soup topped with puff pastry. Did with some chunky chips and no one complained.
4) Boys being fit and well. Smaller son was sick yesterday but was raring to go to school this morning and has been on top form all day. Bigger son strained his tummy playing on the swing - right over his big epigastric hernia. But that seems OK too, phew.
5) Had a good play on the piano.
6) MrN came round and hasn't long gone :-)0 -
2) Speaking to my sister on the phone a few times. She has put in 2 offers on the house she likes - both rejected. She has a bit more in reserve though...
After which the EA will have worked out that she has more in reserve, as she looks too eager.
She needs to hold off for a while aND THEN MAKE THE SAME OFFER.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
