5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

a quiet day so I'll have scratch around for five..
1 a quiet day!
2 nsd
3 mended my bedroom curtain pole which was beginning to bow under the weight of the 'new' linings I'd sewn onto the curtains a couple of months ago
4 watched Five Children and It this afternoon, a lovely innocent film. Then watched one which was a bit more grown-up in the evening, but that wasn't nearly as much fun
5 Turned off the television and read, which I really should do more often as I love reading, but have got into the bad habit of having the box in the corner on most of the afternoon and evening now. I must make a couple of evenings a week non-telly ones
6 a healthy eating day as I needed to use up the fruit and veg before I shop next week
(((Hugs))) to all the poorlies, and anyone who just feels like one
night night, sweet dreams

My five for the past couple of days are
1. Staying dryish while DS2 played rugby and they drew.
2. It being mild Friday night as had no electricity from Friday evening til Sat evening.
3. Talking to family with no distractions.
4. A takeaway and knowing that a meal is all prepared for tonight.
5.Electricity back on! I don't know how many times I turned the light switch on while carrying a candle with me!0 -
Ugh, I'm getting DH's cold. Am all bunged up.
Anyway, I'm determined not to let it get to me and carry on as normal.
So, here's my pleasures for today:
1. Saw a squirrel while out on a walk. Brazen little thing it was, climbing a tree right by us while out for a short walk yesterday.
2. Candles. Having them lit adds to the warmth of the place and they look cheerful.
3. A switch to the mealplan yesterday and having a jambalaya last night. I always enjoy that, even if now I have to put some more smoked paprika on my shopping list.
4. A good night's sleep (if somewhat broken by snuffling)
5. Soft tissues!
Hope everyone has a good day. (((hugs)))
Have a good trip, Savingforoz!

This week-end's (so far). Hope you're all not too depressed at the darker nights closing in.
1. Being given a huge bag of Bramley apples by kind neighbour.
2. Cooking down some of them for the freezer and discovering that their thick apple purree makes a lovely spread on buttered crumpets or a currant loaf.
3. Finding that my endive seedlings are tall enough to pot on to grow under mineral water bottle cloches to provide some winter salads.
4. The chilli plants I pruned back a month ago after picking all the the fruit areall sprouting again and bearing flowers, so I'm bringing them indoors now to over-winter.
5. Dear OH is downstairs "in battle gear" stripping down the oven and cleaning it for me. This one alone would have been sufficient to brighten my week-end.0 -
Just as afternoon is closing, the sun has come out! But my! is it windy!...and rising.
1. Have eaten more than half a dozen strawberries over the last few days. Suddenly my silly plants are blooming all over again and doing things.
2. Ditto the tomatoes which went in too late[my fault entirely, left them in tiny pots till drooping and leggy for weeks]and have[understandably]put huge effort into catching up and staying alive against all odds....but I saw a second one ready earlier. There'll even be enough for the usual green tomato etceteras.
3. A very useful £2.22 DTD refund from Mr T. One [STRIKE]£1.60[/STRIKE] 49p Reduced item went through at full price.
4. Treated self to 3 indoor hyacinths last week. Set them over water not 2 days ago and there are white shoots on two:Talready. I am trying with passing years to unlearn relentless self-denial. No matter how tiny the treat, these little lifts are of self- and soul-saving importance. I do them easily and often for others, but hold back for moi.
5. Several interesting finds this a.m. on £squeezed3 spent. Hope to realise something against the crunch of the £60 fine.#################saving for oz - T Trying to do an Oz-theme green and gold Bon Voyage for you as you heave down on that suitcase or backpack for tomorrow.will[/B] close, it will...'] Have a wonderful time and tap in as and when you can. Good evening all:)
1. Had a lie in and two mugs of tea in bed, whilst watching a cookery program.
2. Lovely hot bath afterwards.
3. My green peppers are turning red on the window sill, next to the tomatoes.
4. Son and his family stopping by as the 2 grand daughters wanted to show me their new haircuts, little one has a lovely short bob and her elder sister has had quite a bit cut off, but still able to do a small ponytail.
5. Roast chicken, roast potatoes, yorkies, gravy and our own homegrown charntenay carrots for our supper.
:beer:Have a nice, warm evening everyone.

Evening all,
Hope you are all dandy this damp, miserable evening.
My idyllic weekend was temporary disrupted by my pain in the bum neighbour downstairs who came round to complain that I was using my washing machine at 8pm on a Saturday night!! Shock horror! Fair enough it was quite noisy but she is really annoying! unfortunately she does not seem to not understand that living in a downstairs flat can be noisy on occassion!
1) A lie in! I can't remember the last time I slept past 8am. I then stayed in bed reading my new book about a man in Herefordshire living for a year surviving soley on wild food from his smallholding.
2) Made some green tomato chutney
3) Started preparing my fruit mince meat for Christmas - it smells lovely!
4) Harvest from my garden - runner beans, potatoes, tomatoes, strawberry and sweetcorn
5) Chatting to my mum on the phone.
6) Finishing a square for my blanket. I'm nearly a third of the way there! I can't help but sew the squares together as I finish them, even though I know that is not the right way to do it!
7) Sewing my first lot of fleece lining to my lounge curtain. I'm going to have to pop into Mr A tomorrow to buy a couple more blankets.
8) Cuddles with Fee - even if he does stick his needle sharp claws into my thigh on a regular basis.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday night

Recent ones for me include:
1. The gorgeous basket of flowers that was delivered to me by a client. The perfume from the lilies and the carnations was beautiful.
2. The lovely cards and farewell gifts I've had. Which included a packet of condoms plus a bottle of lubricant, and a portable female urinal....I kid you not!
3. Going out for lots of delicious farewell meals with friends this week, with the prospect of more to come. Moroccan food tonight!
4. Having my last day at work on Thursday, which was quite emotional for me as a big chapter of my life has come to a close. On to the next part of my life...
5. Feeling so, so, so excited about everything!
See you all soon..
Best of luck and above all, stay safe!
Have an absolute blast!:j:TFelines are my favourite

Evening everyone!
Seems to have been a busy day, starting with a follow up vet's appointment (£38 ) and then cooking/housework Still, my 5 pleasures today :-
1) Woke up refreshed after a really good sleep - don't think I woke once, which is unheard of
2) My cat is slowly getting better - one more antibiotics injection needed (she won't take tablets, however I disguise them)
3) Made loads of no-point soup (am on WW diet)
4) Nice food today - chicken pasta salad for lunch, salmon + veg + lemon couscous for dinner - yum
5) Nice trip out planned for tomorrow with a friend (window shopping only in view of recent vet bills)
Have a good evening everyone!

I'm terrible for not remembering to sign out when I go off and do other things. No sugar for me thank you, and I'll bring along the box of fresh cream scones which I picked up in Mr M on my way home this afternoon, ys to 19p. Oh blow, now I'll have to think of another 5th!
