    Beachbaby - Hello and welcome

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Being able to give some raffle prizes to DD guide group. I had a couple of things in the present drawer that were surplus to requirements so hopefully will help the guides raise some money.
    2. Spent my lunch hour quietly reading my book in the little used staff room at work. Also means I didn't spend any money.
    3. Got to enough points on a survey site to change to a voucher plus received some vouchers in the post today from another site:money:
    4. Received another lipgloss in the post and won a miniture of whisky which will go in OH stocking at christmas thanks to MSE:money:
    5. Enjoying a slice of the ginger cake DD made yesterday at school

Hugs to all who need them

CCP - Hope you're feeling better today?
Beachbaby - welcome! Positive vibes being sent to you for your new start.
sparrer - well done with your creative juices :D
Has Savingforoz left for her amazing adventure yet?

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) The sun was out today! What a lovely day. Just hope it lasts for a bit. We're meant to be having fun in the woods tomorrow.
    2) Had my wheel-bearing fixed today on the car. Never a pleasure to pay out for car stuff but glad that terrible noise has gone!
    3) Neighbour's lovely teenage son found an apple tree in the yard of a closed down pub and he bought a load round for us. He'd been eating them all day at college but they were cooking apples - hope he's not suffering tonight. Made an apple crumble - of course
First time I'd ever made my own crumble topping. Why on earth had I not done this before? It was waaaaay lovelier.
    4) Got my copy of 'The Takeaway Secret' through the post this morning. Made lamb doner for tea tonight. O.....M......G :p
    5) Have been invited to a do on Saturday night (the whole family is welcome). Very excited about this - we NEVER go out at night because of lack of childcare. So this is a very rare treat to look forward to.

    Evening all,

    hope you are well.

Yesterday I mentioned that one of my pleasures was getting a doctor's appt at short notice for 7.20 this morning. Alas, when I turned up there I realised that the lady must have meant 7.20PM! DOH! I have now rearranged for 7.10AM on Monday. The receptionist made sure that I had it right this time!

    1) Not getting irritated by my mistake and lookig on the bright side that I had decided to shower after the appointment so that I would have an extra 30 minutes in of sleep. I would have been annoyed if I had got up early for nothing!

    2) Working from home this morning (not that I told the boss... I am a bad girl!) and getting some stuff done

    3) Hopefully I have managed to fix my dishwasher which has been playing up for the last month. I unscrewed everthing and cleaned it out and I think that has done the job (fingers crossed!)

    4) Leaving drinks for one of our PR managers. I'll miss him.

    5) Getting to know a new colleague a little better while at the pub. She is only a contractor but we will be working fairly closely over the next few months.

    Night night

  • Evening folks,

I'm still trying to catch up with this thread. It's been a nice day for me,just thought I'd share before I head off to bed:

    1 I went for a run today,the first this week ,did 2.5 miles,so I'm pleased.

2 I made a coffee Victoria Sandwich for the second time.It wasn't quite as good as the first time, but I know where I went wrong.Anyway it tastes good!

3 Not really OS I know, but I went to a concert this evening, the first one I've been to this year.Mozart and Haydn-I really enjoyed it.

4 I bought a pure wool cardi and jumper for next to nothing in a charity shop:I think I'll get a lot of use out of them.I also found an 'old-fashioned' plain black leather handbag with a fine red leather inner lining. It's stunning and in quite good nick-I have a thing for handbags...

5 My wee cat curling up to sleep in my lap several times today. She'd stopped doing this in the summer, which I've missed.

frugalpam welcome and congratulations on stopping smoking.I stopped smoking just over 10 years ago and STILL feel chuffed about it and also grateful that I came to my senses.Good luck with the diet.

Ladyhawk sorry to hear about your cat, sending you a virtual hug.

    Goodnight to you all.

What an incredible day it's been after all the cold, wet ones lately. Still feeling flat but the warmth and sunshine did perk me up a bit. Trying to think half full, I'll get there

    1. The weather has to be top of the list
    2. Managed a whole morning in the garden, had to sit a few times but I got masses done. I love my neighbours but wish sometimes they'd stop saying 'you shouldn't do so much' - who else is going to do it?! And this stupid disease has to live with me, not me with it. I'm by no means a self righteous ex-smoker, there are days I'd do it again if I could but I wouldn't wish this on anyone, so really well done everyone who gives up smoking :T cos I know it isn't easy, and if you're thinking of giving it up please try.
    3. Postie is getting silly now, first came the anti-wrinkle cream, then the facial scrub, last time it was gel for arthritis and today it was a money-off voucher for hair dye  . I'm dreading the tomorrow's post, what will she bring next I wonder?! She also brought me an appt for the old boiler (no, not me ;)) to have its annual service, which was done yesterday!
    4. nsd
    5. Washed the kitchen floor, I usually do it every night but missed the last couple of times. It's not really a pleasure but it will be when I go down in the morning and see it
    6. Thankful for this board, it doesn't matter what frame of mind we're in the board is always here and always so uplifting to read everyones pleasures.

Night night, hugs if you need them, or not...

It's been a bit busy the last couple of days, but here goes with the pleasures of the last few days:

    1. Getting a lift home - a rare treat. :)
    2. Watching a disc from LoveFilm (although I didn't appreciate jumping at shadows too much! We watched Paranormal Activity - ooh-err!)
    3. A one-off treat of some fillet steak for tea last night - oh my. Mmm...
    4. A good day at work yesterday. :)
    5. The leaves on the cherry trees near the train station are now turning red, and in the sunlight they gleam so beautifully. :)

DH isn't very well with cold at all. He's managing to keep his spirits up, but I can't help wanting to wait on him hand and foot because he's not well. Bless him. Just planning a gentle tea of soup tonight with some croutons, and there's a bit of cheesecake left over from last night's treat tea. I hope those who are poorly feel better soon and (((hugs))) to those in need.

    Have a good day everyone.

Hmm, very strange - have just had to log on to mse; never happened before. I just click a desktop ikon.

    1. Had to start with this, just heard< Ryder Cup, teeing off now. Assume it was a Grounds wallah/Club suit being interviewed re: conditions - it's rainy, windy, nasty[should suit the Europeans;)]
Said he: 'I'm concerned with the crowds to see it's not overly raining':D How does he propose to do this?

    2. Putah spun slowly, slowly in ever more never decreasing circles last night, so couldn't post labelling 5 more jars of confiture framboise - thought I'd use the kg I'd picked straightaway. Not sure there's room for many more in freezer anyway. Each time, I love the simple never fail NZ Edmonds Book recipe, which is better than any other ever tasted/known. It matches the no-cook version for flavour and fresh fruitiness.

    3. Finished Ian Rankin. Ending cleverly plants the question....is he or isn't he?...and which he? Began silly Agatha Raisin - thin stuff after IR, but am reading the poetry acquired at Tony's wake every day and the remarkable Dorothy Rowe - Wanting Everything: The Art of Happiness.

    4. This morning is as foul as yesterday dawned fair - so I returned from early gym before 8, took thoughts, books, tea, radio outside and - mostly - read, listened, drifted, and soaked up sun until cloud increasingly intervened and it was no longer pleasant. It was lovely to bask in warmth and light and outdoors on the last day of September. Felt like a glorious insistent duty, hungrily fulfilled.

    5. Heard unfamiliar birdsong from elderberry yesterday. Tried hard to see who it was, but caught a departing glimpse only - blackbirdy size, dark rear plumage is all I can say for certain.

A rejoicing TGIF to all for whom it means Happy w/e demain.
Gentleness and kind thoughts to all for whom a shared tea/coffee is on offer.

Oh sparrer - when I read you normally wash your kitchen floor every night I felt ashamed. I won't confess how often mine gets done !

    Last couple of days:
    1. Getting odd bits of gardening done in between the showers
    2. Bargain price apples and nectarines from local fruit & veg stall.
    3. 3 No spend days this week.
    4. Enjoying sitting in an armchair with a book watching the rain lash down the windows.
    5. Two visits from the woodpecker to our garden nut cage yesterday.

Confess away, Primrose, make my day (so I won't feel too ashamed myself LOL)

    Hi all

A couple of days ago I posted and then my life got taken over by work (isn't work a nuisance, it really comes in the way of a social life, doesn't it?)...

Ladyhawk: re. morsbags, yes I used to make them when I had a life (prior to going to work in an office *GROAN*), maybe one day I shall start again and manage to use the stash of fabric that I have accumulated! I think they make beautiful Christmas presents, you can find out all the details and patterns to make them on the Morsbags website: http://www.morsbags.com/ and click on the top menu where it says Make One. Let me know how it goes!

Here is a handful of pleasures from the last couple of days:

1 - Wednesday yoga class was good.

2 - I am starting feeling more settled in my "back from holiday" routine - and every night I give thanks for my wonderful comfy bed!

3 -On the bus I met a former friend (someone who I was friends with for years before distancing myself - for various reasons that do not need to be disclosed) and I could hardly recognise her, she has lost so much weight! I complimented her, she looked really great. We just had a chat and then parted company. I am delighted for her, but part of the pleasure for me is also that I did not feel any animosity towards her, just feelings of delight that she has achieved so much in the last couple of years since I last saw her.

4 - Last night, after a very challenging work day *GRRRRRR* I gave up on being OS and "diety" and just ordered a magnificent Indian takeaway - blissful!

5 - This morning breakfast: wrap with homemade hummus and mashed avocado, lovely!

6 - In a couple of hours I am going to my yoga and massage weekend (only I shall do only yoga, no massage - so I can do double the yoga classes!).

I won't be online for another couple of days now, so I am going to say bye bye for now and have a great weekend everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina - if my kitchen floor gets cleaned once a week, it think's it's Christmas. It often goes a fortnight - depends how dirty it gets popping in and out of the garden. But I'm definitely not confessing how often I change my sheets :rotfl:

    1. It's raining, and I'm in a nice dry house.
    2. It's raining, and I'm enjoying some nice music.
    3. It's raining, and a friend has just phoned.
    4. It's raining, and we're eating from the freezer today so no spending.
    5. It's raining, and for once I don't mind.
