Morning everyone, my 5 for today are.
1. Another nsd, have done so well this month. Finally think i have my impluse buying under control,:money: just need to work on the number of sweets i buy, just can't resist 10p mix ups, curly wurly etc.
2. Found Adventures with bread dough thread, great read, i am going to try the recipe from post14 by D&DD. Sounds very yum yum.:T
3. White washing steeping in very hot water in the kitchen sink at the moment, about to finish it on a cold 30min cycle in machine. Really have cut down the number of long hot washes i do to about 2 a month.:money:
4. Getting ready to join in the live on 4k a year thread. Sort of did this last year, will keep better records of spending this year.
5. Son has requested a stay at home weekend, board games, dvd saturday and roast sunday lunch etc. Just the two of us. I think it's starting to dawn on him that his life is about to change in a big way very soon. His uni interview is less that 3 weeks away. He has been a bit quite on it too.
Have a great os day, big hugs to all who need them, special hi to all the newbies. Thanks to you all for the wonderful posts.:A
Big special hugs for muppet, ollie and acy too.0 -
Acey - sorry to hear that you're all so poorly. Make sure you get a day or two to yourself to recover once the children are well enough to return to school.
Some from yesterday for me.
Getting bargain eye cream with my Boots Skincare voucher, and the sales assistant offering me a spare voucher and an 89p Olay Face Cleanser which she had at the till.
Finding out I'd said enough of the right things on my telephone interview to get through to the shortlist for a proper interview next week. I thought long and hard in light of a couple of things that the lovely agency lady said about the job though and realised why I'd turned a similar opportunity down in the past. Yes, I do need to get a job ASAP (my final pay in lieu of notice is due today, four weeks after I became redundant) but I know that I'd absolutely hate that one after a while. Fortunately DH agreed and reassured me that I might still find my dream job in time to start in January. I feel bad about messing the agency around but better all round to make the decision now rather than talk myself into the job and regret it forever.
Speaking to DSx2 about their birthday party. Time for another double with large numbers (up to 35? eek!) but we can't compete with some of the amazing things they get invited to. I've come up with a concept and they've agreed to it. Plan A - call the village hall and check that the Brownies haven't block-booked the next few months! Planning that will give me something to get excited about while I'm off work.
Lovely blue sky and sunshine.
Clear, starry sky at night.
Have a good one everyone and hugs to those in need.0 -
:hello: Good morning everybody - looks OK outside at the moment - no wind/rain so can't be bad
.
Would just like to say a H-U-G-Eto you all for the thoughts and supportive messages over the past few days - it's very humbling to think that an internet community can be so thoughtful in a time of stress.
ampersand -my posting times have been rather erratic recently - mostly due to higgledy-piggledy life . Sorry to see you didn't get any of the M&S chocs but so kind of you to pass on your voucher to another shopper :A. I used to work in a Charity Shop (before THIS job) as well, and it's something that I'm looking forward to doing again post-retirement in a few years' time. Hope you discover the identity of the idiot on the quadbike - shouldn't be too difficult if you live in a small community!
bunny too - oooops about the freezer door - hope the contents were safe!
mineallmine - yesterday was a beautiful day here too. Lol at your cat on the k/board - Tiggy-tiger used to try to get between me and the comp to gain attention - miss that soooooo much!
bella - thanks for your concern- wow you had a really busy day!
scotrae - ooooo I know that feeling so well - makes you feel !
redsquirrel - wtg on your freebie mince pies :j - and hope you have a great weekend with OH and your mum - I'm sure all will be well.
huston_kw - wd on such a busy mse/os day :T.
yummyhoney - ty- wd on getting so organised before Christmas. Hope you and F-i-l had a good evening and you can send that 'naughty invisible man' round here pls - he can be topping MY glass up
.
Muppet81 - Mr Ollie was on a 'chilli promise' last night too - but it didn't happen. Thanks for the advice - definitely some changes going to happen in this household - BEFORE Christmas too! Good to see you're keeping yourself occupied so well - but if you run out of things to do, you'll be made very welcome chez Ollie - my kitchen needs MORE than blitzing at the moment.
Tealady - ty- what is it with these kids - my dgd1(11) has left her school tie (only had it since Sept ) on the bus and they can only be bought from the school at silly prices as the tie is slightly different for each 'house'! I had ONE tie for 5yrs at senior school (washed and pressed once a term) and it was able to be passed on to a neighbour's daughter who started after I left. Well done on your picnic on the train - in the words of Mr Punch, 'That's the way to do it!'
.
Miss Imaginative - Hi  and welcome - wd you on the HM Lasagne and to OH for his home-brew ! Hope you have a great Christmas trip 'back home'.
Patchwork - no wonder you were feeling frazzled - one heck of a full day! Hope your dd's birthday goes without any hitches - how lovely of her b/f and you to arrange those surprised for her.
Kittikins - aww at your DD - there's no fathoming their minds at timesremembering how mine would eat various tinned pasta 'shape things' (alphabetti spaghetti etc) but pulled faces over plain old spaghetti hoops - grrrrr - no telling them that they were 'one and the same' just twice the price! Little word of warning about donating items to school Christmas Fayres - they sometimes migrate back home again courtesy of the pennies in your child's hand on the day - HONEST
!
newlywed - Are you trying to do too much too quickly perhaps- naughty girl. Take it slow - your body is still recovering
. Have you tried Lemon Drizzle Cake with one of the lemons - my family love those
.
nuttybabe - well done on getting back into your crafts again :j - does us good to express our creative side. I'm due for my swineflu jab when I've got over this flipping chest infection, and I'd heard that it can leave you feeling a bit 'rough' and with a sore arm. Oh well, c'est la vie - a few more 'down days' among all the rest .
ACEY - Well done you :T on coping with the quarantine period by yourself - can be a very lonely business with 2 sick kiddies at the same time. Consolation is that you're nearly there now - another couple of days should get you through - hope YOU show signs of recovery before the children do - you'll need to for when they get their energy levels back again.
Broomstick - lol at your son - they can be great company at that age DEPENDING on their mood of course. I remember being so proud of mine the first time he told me to sit down at a table while HE went to get drinks for us both (with his own money)
.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Appointments for both DD and myself. DD feeling much more positive after her chat with NHSDirect and Social Services. I saw a new GP at our practice who chatted to me about my BP, took it - said he didn't see what the walk-in centre were concerned about - asked me if I was under any stress - listened while I had a good sob - sympathised - took it again - praised my last blood test results - and offered to sign me up for 'Step in Life Sessions' when my family life has calmed down a bit! Went to visit the receptionist on the way out and told her I'm in L-U-R-V-E! She said that all the staff are as well :rotfl:.
2. Community Energy Efficiency Session. Lots of different stalls with loads of useful information regarding, energy suppliers, local travel organisations, lifestyle, water efficiency, community cooks etc. The community cooks had provided lots of delicious soup for people to sample as well as Recipe Cards AND little bags of veg to make it yourself. Healthy sandwiches and fresh fruit samples as well = freebie lunch .
3. Visited one of the tenants to sort out digibox problem - left him with a smile on his face!
4. Phone call from DD to say that dgd1 was coming to me straight from school and wanted to stay the night - probably avoiding dgs1 . Lovely to see her developing an interest in maps/geography for homework - we have hundreds of the things as OH is into hiking/hill scrambling/mountains.
5. Actually managed quite a good night's sleep as the antibiotics have now 'kicked in' - still coughing when over-exerted but not choking as much. HM Honey & Lemon drink while swallowing Paracetamol really helping as well - old remedies are always the best!
Oh well - I should NOT be sat here on this comp right now. Really need to get started on my work day.
Specialfor everybody who need them and hope we all have great mse/os days ahead
. love Ollie xxx

Hello all :A
Newleywed ... sorry that you are still feeling poorly. Go for the treats
Acey ... Thinking about you all and hoping you soon feel better
Ollie ... Hope you are feeling a bit happier. You must be so worried about DD. I would love to come and put a shine on Chez Ollie but sadly United Utilities have dug our lane up and anyone who did not move their car to the main road is now marooned. HONESTCan't even do any more cleaning here today as we have no water till 7:00pm. Using this as an excuse to blob today.
Pleasures:
1) Having a blobbing day
2) Having a blobbing day
3) Having a blobbing day
4) Having a blobbing day
5) Having a blobbing evening and watching I'm a Celeb tonight. Bar of chocolate waiting in the fridge
Apologies for being lazy today:o:o
Hugs to all who are in need today.
xxThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Morning all. Had a lot to catch up on.
Muppet hope all goes well for you. I'm thinking of you. Love the term blobbing day. Not heard that one before.
I was begining to feel a little better then I was struck down by a stinking cold. Not the worst thing in the world but very unsociable with all the sniffling and sneezing. DH keeps giving me some fairy liquid coloured lemsip stuff. I find Brandy works much better- at least it gives me a good nights sleep. Anyway I have been trying to keep upbeat by catching up and counting my own blessings,
1. Homemade vegetable stew for dinner last night with some left over for lunch in a short while.
2. Some blue skies at last!
3. Making some time to read in an evening. Since we went digital we no longer have a TV in the bedroom - not a bad thing.
4. Most of my christmas shopping is done.
5. DD2 making apple crumble at school today. Looking forward to that this evening. I'm making the most of 'feeding' my cold!
Love to all. X0 -
6. Just heard that my lovely friend who gave me chocs yesterday has given birth to a baby girl this morning and both mum and baby are doing well. :happyhear Made my day!0

Hi everyone and hugs to those who need them ((()))
And thank you, Olliebeak, for pointing me towards Authonomy - I'd no idea such a site existed and it could be just what I was looking for. :j
Recent ones for me include:
1. It's Friday today - which means a short working day .
2. Deciding to start internet dating again and getting some emails from potential guys :heartpuls.
3. Yummy chickpea and mushroom balti last night - a case of freezer surpise, I thought I'd be eating butterbean, veg and coconut tagine
4. Carrying on with my latest story despite losing half of it when the file became corrupted  - tried everything but couldn't retrieve it. Never mind, I think the replacement version is better than the original.
5. My insane foster cat, Molly, spending all night curled up on my pillow. Such a cutie.
Have a good weekend, everyone.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
