    Evening all,

CCP - LOL at your yellow bread! Maybe you'll start a fashion?

    1) I have just had the most delicious supper - I had defrosted some lamb neck fillets to make a curry (which smells yummy is is what I will be having tomorrow when I get back from Edinburgh) but kept back 5 of the medallions, then flattened and marinated the in olive oil, fresh mint and fresh rosemary and a squeeze of lemon juice. I then fried them on a hot skillet for a couple of minutes each side and they were amazing! (if I do say so myself!) Served with fresh veggies from the garden, though it would also work well with salad.

    2) Chatting to my mum on the phone. She sounds like she has a nasty cough but still seemed perky.

    3) I "made" £70 by taking back the food processor that my brothers bought me for my birthday. JL offered me cash back immdiately rather than vouchers so I was chuffed with that.

    4) Had an eye test today and the optician at SpecSav'rs was really nice and chatty. So much better than the staff a Doll&Aich who I refuse to deal with any more.

    5) Managed to get some of the tidying that I have been putting off for ages, All the shredding has been shredded and excess books been listed on Amazonia.

Right I am off to bed now as I am getting the 7am flight to Edinburgh.

    Night

The porridge does sound nice Caterina, I'm not a lover of it but yours sounds particularly good. Hope you had a productive time at the allotment
What a lovely idea your friend's hen party was Frith, she's obviously a very thoughtful person. And what a kind sister you have leaving you a cake
Kite flying and swimming sound like fun Kitchenbunny. Sorry to hear about your headache, hope it's gone and perhaps try a temple massage if it comes back, that sometimes helps
Sorry you've had such rotten weather Blimus, but hope the ebaying is successful to make up for it. Well done on the pork and all you managed to do with it.
Thank you for making me smile CCP, I have an image of your turmeric bread in my head and I'm thinking it's probably more yellow than the butter
Ladyhawk pleased you got cash instead of vouchers, much more useful. The lamb sounds delicious, what time's dinner tomorrow?

    My 5
    1. nsd
    2. Made more chicken soup
    3. Usuall Sunday lunchtime meeting with friends
    4. A nap this afternoon.

No 5 might seem a very odd 'pleasure' but because of his illnesses it's a relief in a way. I had a call from the hospital at tea time to tell me my wonderful Aussie friend in Beijing had gone to sleep for the last time. Luckily his insurance co is arranging for him to be taken home to join his parents in the family grave there. I'm just so very thankful I got to speak to him last night.

    Night night sweet dreams

Ooo - it's a long time since I've posted on this thread, but I'm having the urge to share my day today....

    1) Sunday lunch (cooked by me) with my Mum and Dad, who have just come back off holiday and had to catch up with all the news...
    2) A lovely bottle of wine given to me by Mum from France
    3) A fab apple and blackberry crumble - apples from the tree outside my friend's barn and blackberrys picked when out walking the dog
    4) Wonderful walk with the bf and dog after Mum and Dad went home
    5) A relaxing bath after the walk

    EM xx

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend, Sparrer.

Here are my 5 for today.

    1) MrN popping round a few times. :-)

    2) Going to feed my sister's cat and finding him in fine fettle, if desparate to get out!

    3) Helping my brother move some tiles (he is converting a barn). I was quite pleased I was able to shin up and down the ladder and walk along the scaffolding boards (2 storeys up) without worrying!

    4) Getting lots of stuff done - making and freezing soup, putting damsons in the freezer and having a tidy up and putting the school uniforms out.

    5) Sitting in front of the fire with the cat.

    6) Going to listen to the News Quiz on iplayer in bed now, just got to make a hot water bottle for my knackered neck!
  • Sparrer very sorry to hear about your friend.

    Hi all

Sparrer, so sorry about your friend's passing (HUG)

CCP, hope your cold gets better and if you are not going to work today make sure you have a good rest. Celebrate your yellow bread, turmeric is a great health-giving, anti-inflamatory spice, and delicious too!

    Here to record yesterday's pleasures:

1 - Walk to the Farmers' market with DD

2 - There, we shared a large piece of Pizza bianca (cold pizza sold by the piece, no tomato, just oil and salt - the memory of my childhood as this used to be my mid-morning snack at school), delicious, but it is better when bought hot from the bakery in Rome (ah well, can't win 'em all!)!

3 - Good progress made at the allotment, DH cleared a lot of ground and I weeded the (teensy-weensy) leeks, thus saving them from suffocation by weeds.

4 - We got talking with one of our allotment neighbours, somehow I mentioned that this is the season for quinces and he said he has some spare ones at home after making his jam, and he went there and back with a bagful of quinces for us and also one of his jams to taste. What a kind man!

5 - Family dinner, garden-grown marrow stuffed with sosmix and baked with potatoes and rosemary, accompanied by homemade coleslaw and steamed red cabbage. It was delicious!

Off to my yoga class now, have a good day everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    A post wee-end catch up.
    1. Having my brother and his partner to stay. The four of us went to a very enjoyable Battle of Britain concert on Friday evening.
    2. Nice walks around our local area.
    3. Delicious meals with meat from our butcher, vegetables from the garden and home-made bread.
    4. And all the bedding laundry & towels following their visit washed and dried outside.
    5. Catching up with a good friend and going to watch her young son play football.
  • Caterina - The walk to the Farmer's Market sounds lovely. I must make an effort to get to our local one at lunchtime - it's always so packed though. :s
Sparrer - Sorry to hear about your friend (hugs)
CCP - I hope you feel better soon.

Here's my five pleasures for today:

    1. Getting home from work. Public transport isn't a favourite activity of mine. :)
    2. Finishing the factory girls book I was reading and starting another, in a totally different genre (Sci-Fi/Fantasy)
    3. The first cup of tea of the day. :)
    4. I've not had a can of cola all day!
    5. Candles. I love candles and DH lit some when he got home. It's really warming the place up nicely.

Well, I had a better day at work than Friday, which is good. Otherwise, it's just been another day. I'll cook an omelette in a bit and do a bit of bread and butter to go with it. Hope everyone has a nice evening.

    KB xx
