5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Back again!
Here are my 5 for today (Friday).
1) Surviving going to court.
2) Picking the boys up from my friend's and having a cup of tea with her.
3) Getting £3500 knocked off my debt!
4) Having my school friend here to babysit.
5) The Date. :-) It was stressful. I had about 3 hours sleep last night, was in court half the day and, by 9pm, realised I had eaten one chocolate bar in 24 hours... And actually going on a date was stressful! Very weird not to have a single son there with us. I felt less ethereal after I had had something to eat (though still very tired) and of course calmed myself down and started to enjoy it just in time to come home. Its also very strange that his sons and his mum and dad know about us now.
That's it - weird week over!
Thanks for all the messages and support :-)0 -
villagelife wasn't the tiger programme amazing? Hope they do manage to make it a restricted area
Caterina does the new Julia Roberts film come out today in London? Lucky you, it doesn't come out here until next Friday and I'm so looking forward to it
Reverbe good to see you post. Just being alive, having your comp back to keep in touch with, are pleasures one can count, we just have to think what we'd miss if we didn't have it. As the others have said, try freecycle for replacement white goods, if there's nothing on there you can always post a 'wanted'.
savingforoz pleased you got your cat 'fix' with your friends mog. Sorry you met nice guy a bit late, but there'll be plenty more when you get back from your travels
parsonswife I'd be interested to know how the silicone thingys work out, I thought of buying some but not til I get feedback from anyone else who's used them
Blimus the wellies sound fun! DS2 must be so proud of them. Wish I had a pyo place like that here, last time I picked a bag of plums they wanted £24 !!! Needless to say I pleaded poverty and left empty-handed pdq
Welcome Mumoftwins. This really is the nicest place, everyone's so friendly and supportive of each other
CCP I'm pleased mog was pleased, Hope he feels a little better today. Hope you do too, be good to yourself over the weeekend
RAS how lovely seeing a rainbow, they're amazing aren't they? I'm not sure about enjoying autumn but it does bring beautiful colours with it, so it's not all bad
Kitchenbunny sorry you had a bad day at work, and worse time with the sewing. Hope the weekend will get better for you
Pam I wish I lived wherever you do, it rained all morning and blew a gale all afternoon here. Congrats on getting the garden done, a job well worth paying for from time to time
Oh dear Ladyhawk, the managers in your company aren't being too well behaved this week - I hope you sorted them out. Well done on getting the contract competed though, your job sounds extremely busy and very interesting
Tealady lemon drizzle cake is my favourite. Umm...or chocolate marble cake could be, ha ha. Congrats on raising a good sum for MacMillan :T and well done the company for donating too
Frith I'm so pleased you didn't get any battle scars from the hearing. What an excellent judge 'encouraging' the ex to sign the PPI form. It doesn't sound like you have the ideal conditions for a date, so it can only get better.
Mine for Friday

I went, it is ok but nowhere near as good as the book, and some bits have been changed and "Hollywood-ised"! However it is still a good film and worth watching.
You are complaining about it not coming to your neck of the woods until next Friday, but do you know that while I was in Italy it was alread out (on 17th Sept) and also when I went through Paris I noticed that it was out there too! Wonder why it came so late to the UK?
I am off now, to an Open Day at a Yoga centre, so hopefully lots of free yoga classes!
Have a good day xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all,
Well, I have survived the night! The girls are all on their way out slowly, one by one, but feeling the effects of little or no sleep as I will do too later no doubt. Think I managed about 5 hours sleep which was more than I expected.
Not sure on my 5 OS pleasures, need to get the house emptied of people then can crack with anything that needs doing.
Have a good day all, and Ampersand - hope to see/speak soon xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

I haven't posted for a few days, as things have been getting me down and I've been waking up at 3am every morning not able to get back to sleep. Car has just cost us £1,000 to fix, finding it very difficult to stay positve at work, and feeling guilty as I haven't managed to see mum yet. Sorry to unload on here.
Blimus I'm still shocked by people like Rob from CDWM
Kitchenbunny hope things improve for you soon, will have to store 'negative nelly' expression away though
Caterina and Ladyhawk glad you both enjoyed your breaks, sorry to hear about your cat Ladyhawk
Frith your positive outlook always inspires me, have been lurking not posting, glad to hear yesterday went well
frugalpam and mumoftwins welcome to the thread
Reverbe it's great to hear from you
1) after three years on the waiting list, we've got half an allotment, sent the agreement back to the council today
2) did half an hour on the Wii Active today
3) cuddles from dd this morning
4) got two stainless steel spades for £15 at Wilcos half price gardening sale

Hi all
Back from my day out, here are my pleasures for the day:
1 - This morning I ate a whole groat porridge that had been soaked and then (after a very short heating on the gas to bring it to boil) cooked over the fireplace overnight. This morning it was perfectly cooked and super-creamy, all it needed was heating and pouring syrup on. With a handful of chopped nuts, it was the perfect breakfast for a cool day.
2 - Before going out I managed to cook a panful of chick peas that had been soaking overnight, so tonight's dinner is nearly ready ( a few chopped veg and a handful of broken pasta thrown in will make a lovely chick pea soup). Some of the remaining chick peas will be frozen for future quick meals, but some will be used to make homemade hummus (when I get around to buying a lemon).
3 - Met with a friend, we had a good walk and a cup of tea and cake at the end of the walk.
4 - Went to a free yoga event with another friend - the yoga was nothing to write home about but it was good to spend time with my friend.
5 - As I hadn't had any lunch before going to yoga, on my way back I got a bag of chips, it was such a lovely treat.
6 - I managed to pick up two pairs of DH's shoes that had been repaired before our holidays and that I hadn't had the time to pick up before.
7 - Just before coming home I dropped in by a neighbour who I hadn't seen for a while during the summer and we renewed acquaintance. I discovered that she is looking for a gentle yoga class and told her about the over 50's one I attend on Mondays, so she might join me to that one in a couple of weeks' time.
8 - Even though the weather has cooled down, the sun is shining.
Have a good night everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
Caterina - your descriptions of the food you make and eat always sound so good - you make me feel so hungry! The porridge sounds particularly yum - I wish I had a fireplace so I could try that.
GirlySquare - it sounds like you're having a pretty rough time at the moment, so hugs to you. I hope you enjoy your allotment after your long wait for one.
MOT - well done on managing 5 hours sleep, and on surviving last night!
ampersand - your blackbird video sounds so sweet - I love watching birds taking a bath. I hope your hunter-gathering went well today.
Frith - I'm glad you managed to enjoy your date in the end. Maybe now you've done one and it went OK, you can relax enough to enjoy the next one from the start.
Ladyhawk - is it really mean to hope that your 'trainees' fail their audits, to teach them a lesson? That really was so rude of them.
Kitchenbunny - I'm sorry to hear about the fate of your sewing - that must be immensely frustrating. I hope you had a better day today all round.***********************My pleasures for today:
1) Long lie-in this morning. It was rather longer than I expected, but I generally need more sleep when I'm feeling under the weather (that's my excuse, anyway!).
2) Received a large parcel of stain removal products to test - rather than trial sizes, I've got three full-size packs, so I really hope the stuff works - it will take up a lot of unnecessary cupboard space if it doesn't.
3) NSD.
4) Porridge for breakfast, for the first time this autumn. It probably wasn't quite as good as Caterina's, but it was pretty good all the same.
5) Gave the kitchen a good clean. I doubt it's up to Flylady standards, but it's positively sparkling by mine!
6) Storecupboard challenge dinner tonight, using up various bits and pieces.
7) Followed by plum crumble.(I'm not usually a pudding person, but I keep getting plums in my veg box and I don't like them raw, so what's a girl to do except turn them into puddings?
:D)
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Here's mine today! Am very pleased with myself!
1. Made my first ever curry from scratch, no pastes or jars!
2. re-potted houseplants to make them nice for xmas presents
3. Instead of buying new plant pots, hunted round teh in-laws garage and found some.
4. Made some home made fudge for a treat ( it didnt come out well but at least I have had a go!)
5. Cleaned out the fridge.
Oh, and the car passed the MOT! Woo hoo!0
