  • My five:

    1) Eating home-made cheese biscuits - yum! :)

    2) Using cloth nappies on DS.

    3) Drying DS's cloth nappies on the clothes horse.

    4) Using lentils and the lasagne sheets given to me by a friend (whose husband discovered he was allergic to wheat) to make a home-made vegi-lasagne.

    5) Tubbing up what is left of the lentil mixture to freeze once cooled and make something else with.

    Pleasures for today:
    1. DD lost £5 that was for her train fares last week and I found £5 this morning on our path when putting the bins out. Not sure but think it was the money she lost :j
    2. NSD
    3. Some left over food from a directors lunch today so put some to one side for my lunch tomorrow. Mushroom stroganoff yum:D
    4. Walked home from work, nice to be able to do this whilst still daylight
    5. Lovely Chilli with rice for dinner washed down with a glass of wine

Hope everyone has had a good day with no major worries/disasters

    my 5
    1. Started my 3rd round of pulm rehab exercise classes, didn't do too badly considering I haven't done the exercises quite as faithfully as I might have done during my 4 week summer break :o but in a couple of weeks I'll be back up to par, hopefully
    2. Visited DD, the parrot and dogs - no DGC at home as the older two have left to go to college and the 13 y/o was at school. The dogs heard me go in the front door and I got a very rousing welcome! DD was very tired, the lupus is taking its toll atm, so when she feels better we'll go out for a nice quiet lunch together :)
    3. Needed to fill the car today, having driven following Martins tips I managed to get 30 miles extra from the last fill. Not used to driving quite like that (too slow for me :p!) but it's about time I did, and I'm aiming for 35 miles with this fill. One step at a time :D
    4. Friends who visited 9 days ago brought me a mixed bouquet and told me to put the gerbera in no more than half an inch of water on its own and it won't droop. 9 days on and it's not drooping and looks as fresh as when I was given it :D
    5. I phoned someone from the paper to give me a quote to finish laying the patio. He arrived this pm, it turned out to be the same man who built the beach hut. He quoted me £40 which I accepted immediately of course and he got on with it there and then and it was finished within 3 1/2 hours! So my veg patio is ready to go and I can spend the next few months planning what I'm going to grow next year :j

    Night night, sweet dreams

Thank you all for my birthday wishes. I have had an ok day as I am still suffering from the excesses of Saturday night. But the big news is the my DB and FSIL announced at dinner that she is pregnant (I wonder why they had finally got engaged!). I can' believe I am going to be a auntie!

    1) My brother's news

    2) My cherry stoner present from my middle brother and SIL - I have wanted one for a while but always thought they were rediculously priced.

    3) My food processor... now I can make hummus easily!

    4) Birthday lunch with my colleague who's birthday it is tomorrow - not MSE at all but yummy none the less.

    5) My brothers buying me dinner at a nice vietnamese place just off Oxford Circus

    6) My middle brother and SIL asking if they could come and visit next month when they are in the area.

    7) My london colleagues bringing me hot tea all day

    8) Meeting with one of my directors... who is just beautiful. The first time I met him I made no sense whatsoever and stuttered, stammered and blushed my way through the meeting. At least now I have got control of that and can vaguely pay attention to what he is saying.

    Nighty night... sleep tight

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    5 for today (Monday).

    1) Dropped the boys off at school then drove into town. First stop was the college where I had my hair cut for £3.75! I've been a few times before and never been disappointed. So I'm back to basically a short back and sides.

    2) Then went round the charity shops and got the boys a story tape for 49p (they listen to one when they go to bed) and I got a top.

    3) Went to the opticians. I have a 50% chance of inheriting a nasty eye problem (that can mean you need a corneal transplant) but there are still no signs, thank goodness. Prescription was slightly worse but not enough to need new lenses.

    4) Popped to Sainsburys which was nice as I had no children with me.

    5) MrN popped round and has not long gone. :-)
  • Here are mine for the last few days:

1 I'm prone to anaemia and have been taking iron tablets for a few years now.My last blood test shows that the levels are fine,in fact the highest they've ever been.

2 Doing housework yesterday that I'd planned to do today.

3 Soup season is back-mind you I like soup all year round. Made a lovely lentil and vegetable soup with pearl barley.Making butternut squash soup today. Also going to toast the seeds, yummy hopefully.

4 My Mum arrives here today, staying for a few weeks. This really is no.1!Cue last minute tidy-up...

5 It's a nice day so will put the washing outside to dry.

    Ladyhawk belated birthday wishes!

sparrer hope that you continue to make progress with your physio.

    Kitcaboodle HM is definitely best!

Frith pleased for you at your good news at the opticians

    I've just remembered :

6 Went for a run last week and ran 3 miles, not the planned 2 miles.Very chuffed at this, the last time I did 3 miles was 2 months ago.If only I can keep it up....

Hope you all have a good week x
  • Hello all

CCP - Thanks for your green tom message. I will look forward to trying it in a couple of months though it does look a bit khaki!

Struggling a bit today again, feel I'm such a moaner at the mo', I've got bacterial conjunctivitis and a nasty headache to go with it. So I am mostly saying thanks for:
    1. Our great NHS, diagnosis and cream in eyes by 9.30am this morning.
    2. Radio4, love listening to it.
    3. Husband and daughter looking after me as I walk round as a greasy red eyed monster

    That's all for today

Glad to here this - though it did confuse me slightly. I misread it as that you had been suffering from amnesia...:o

    1) My annual review went well:j, though there was some open and honest feedback which wasn't easy to hear.

    2) My lovely colleague J bought me a birthday cake... it was Hello Kitty so very cute.

    3) Drinks with some of my colleagues this evening for my birthday. All my nice colleagues were able to come along which was nice

    4) Picked up some more fabric from freecycle for my patchwork

    5) Chatting to my Mum and Dad this evening. My dad usually avoids the phone so it was nice to chat to him.

    Nighty night all.

    Evening all.

Gingerjar - hope you feel better soon.

    My pleasures for today:

    1) Ordered a free sample of cat food. The acknowledgement message said "thank you for your interest in trying this food..." - I wasn't actually planning on trying it myself! _pale_

    2) Found £1 and 1p on the floor. :) (And isn't it strange how you can go weeks without finding any money, then start seeing lost coins everywhere? smiley-confused004.gif)

    3) Got an invitation to do a product test on some hot and spicy crisps - sounds good!

    4) Deciding I wasn't in the mood for my first ever attempt at making fish cakes, then finding some RTC in the supermarket. :)

    5) My autumn crocuses have got buds on for the first time in five years. :j

    6) Slightly guilty pleasure of putting the central heating on. :o I don't really need it for myself, it's just to dry some trousers for work tomorrow, but it's rather nice sitting here all nice and warm with the rain coming down so hard it sounds like someone's aiming a hose at my window.

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.
