5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Comments

  • 1. Getting the oven cleaned, ditto grill, pan and all shelves. Hard work, but really worth it to see how nice it has all come up again.
    2. Baking a batch of my Nan's rock buns. Mum makes them, but I have only just got the recipe from her. Really easy, simple and tasty.
    3. DH's reaction to my baking Mum's rock buns. He made a kind of ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo noise and looked very happy indeed. :)
    4. Getting back into exercise. I managed 40 minutes this morning and felt great for it.
    5. I haven't really stopped all day, considering it's a Sunday. I like the feeling of sitting down to do a bit of posting and mealplanning knowing that I've not had a lazy day. It's unusual for me. :)
    6. Crossing off a lot of items in my to-do list. Mostly involving cleaning, but at least I've got them done.
    7. Asking my niece if she'd like me to make her a birthday cake, and getting a most resounding YES, PLEASE. Also, she definitely wanted a chocolate cake, which ties in nicely with my plans for one. I think I'll ask my sister if she can have a go at making a little unicorn cake topper out of modelling/air-drying clay so that she can keep it. :)
    8. Getting three loads of washing done and dried thanks to the rotary line drier. We get so dependent on the tumble drier (bad, I know) that when we get a good day it does me good to line-dry clothes. :)

  • 1. Woke up to sunshine.:D

    2. Went to a boot sale at Africa Alive in Norfolk, managed to get a few bargains and some fresh veg.:j

    3. Went into Africa Alive for a few hours. Had a ride on the Safari Train, saw lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras etc. Had to take a lot of rests as my back was killing me.

    4. Came back to our caravan, had a few strong pain tablets and watched the Eastenders omnibus and watching Deal or No Deal, which is still on. Poor woman has gotten 1p. :(

    5. Supper is already cooked and just needs to be nuked. :T

I am having a lie in tomorrow. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Ladyhawk, a belated happy birthday, and i'm glad your evening out went well.

Villagelife - good to hear you had a great holiday.

Frith - well done to your brother on winning the tennis.

Kitchenbunny - doesn't exercise make you feel great?

A flying visit from me with my five:

    1. The smell of my bread baking.

    2. Vegging out with my favourite crime dramas last night before taking the TV to the local recycling point today. Maybe this will wean me off my addiction to NCIS!

    3. Yummy hummus and roasted veg flatbread washed down with wine at the pub for lunch.

    4. Taking more stuff to the tip and to the charity shop. The house is very empty now!

    5. Seeing my neighbour's sunflowers - he has about a dozen really tall ones all in full bloom. Magnificent!

That's me done, hope everyone is well and enjoying the sunshine.

Well, it's rabbit stew and mashed potatoes, both made by my own fair hands earlier on in the week and fresh buttered cabbage. The former two need to be nuked, the latter is cooking now.

    :D

    Evening everyone,

Not many pleasures today as I have been in bed most of it with a eensy teensy hangover... and this is why I hardly drink anymore. I just can't bear a wasted day the next day.

    1) Being curled up with the puddy tat

    2) looking at seed catalogues and deciding which I am going to buy for next years crop. I want to focus on heirloom varieties and now have some good ideas.

    3) Fresh bread from the BM with HM jam

    4) Knowing my friends (most of whom didn't know each other) had a good time last night (even if I got a little out of hand on sambucca!:o)

    5) Doing a little knitting.

Night all... sleepy time for little ol'd me.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Oh Lord - please make this Indian Summer last a little longer !

    1. Breakfast out on the patio in the sunshine. It felt like being in the Mediterranean.
    2. Picked enough ripe tomatoes to make three pints of tomato soup.
    4. Lovely lunch with a tomato salad incorporating three different colours of home grown beans - green, purple and yellow.
    5. Enjoyable visit to a local Horticultural Veg and Flower show today. Delighted to see that some of my crops were equal to the winning or "commended" items on show and my OH's recent novice attempts at home-made bread compared very favourably to the loaves on display in the Bread categories.
Reckon we're doing pretty well in this Old Style living:T
  • Mine for today:
    1) mindfulness practise in bed first thing this morning
    2) breakfast in bed
    3) cuddles from dd
    4) 30 minutes on the Wii Active
    5) reading the biography of Rachel Carson, author of 'Silent Spring'
    6) puddy-tats antics
    7) being shocked by Jamie Oliver taking on America's fattest town, and I thought we were bad enough feeding our kids chips through the school fence (I'm not being 'holier than thou', took dd to McDonalds yesterday)

5 Listening to shrieks from DS3 who should be in bed but is enjoying trying to stand up on Daddy's legs!!
6 Knowing that I have washed and ironed all bedding and school uniform for this week!
7 Looking forward to Cate Blanchett at 9 p.m.
