Ollie Thank you so so much for taking the time to post the link about the poem & the frosting recipe. You are an angel angel.gif especially as you didn't feel well and you had WW3 breaking out. The biggest of hugs world.gif to you all & prayers that DGS1 will see the error of his ways & begin to think before he acts.

The poem you linked to was lovely & not one I've heard before. I also had a lovely time reading through some of the others that I recite occasionally. One of my favourites when the weather turns cold is 'The North Wind Doth Blow' When I was about 8 yrs old I used to think of this poem & imagine myself in the snow (a la Poor Little Joe) when I wanted to drag a few tears up from my boots to make my poor Mum realise how 'horrible' she was being making me do things that I didn't want to :o:o:o It rarely worked I'm pleased to add & she ignored my behaviour :rotfl:

    Hi all

Sunnygirl, thanks for the kind message!

Ollie, my two are no longer TEENS anymore, but (in name at least) adults! Perhaps you are right, I should stop feeding them nice stuff and just give them turkey twizzlers (or to DD the veggie equivalent), but that just isn't me, I could not be any different a mother, just can't help being an ol'Italian Mamma! But the talking to has had an effect and miraculously DH,. who normally is very "cool" reinforced it and it seems to have struck target (hopefully - see how long it lasts now...).

Muppet, glad to hear that the biopsy event was not too traumatic and that you were treated well and kindly. Crossing fingers for you on results (((HUGS)))

Today I am feeling so much better, when the sun is out it makes such a great difference. Here are my pleasures:

1 - Sunny day, I took off my glasses and let the sun fall on my face and hands for a good 10 minutes while waiting for the bus. People stared, so what, I let them stare!

2 - Nurse appt part 1 - Blood pressure perfectly normal!

3 - Nurse appt part 2 - Weight down from last time by nearly 2 Kg (no effort made, I am sure it is just having cut off dairy from my diet!).

4 - Back home, having soup lunch from the soup I had started 2 days ago, then topped up with veg water, then topped up today with leftover chopped veg from last night, added a bit of pasta and a little stock powder (marigold) and it was delicious.

5 - Found a lovely pm in my in-box when I opened up, you know who you are, thank you very very much!

6 - DH so much better that he is now up and dressed, sitting downstairs reading the paper and having his lunch.

7 - A moment ago, despite the sunshine, a cloud brought a quick splash of rain and moment later the most amazing rainbow appeared. Same one, same place as last time, gotta go and explore the place where it ends, might find the pot of gold after all!

8 - Done the PO box for work this morning so only 1 hour to do for paid work and then I can concentrate in finishing my blinds!

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hugs to you all and thanks for your lovely pleasures. I was grumpy and upset at work earlier, so felt the need to post some pleasures as a counterbalance. I realise now I was getting things out of proportion anyway! Still looking forward to leaving work, however!

    1. Getting invited out for curry on Friday -well, it is National Curry week, can't let that go uncelebrated!
    2. Getting great reviews for my latest story once I posted it. Have started straight away on writing another. Going to write every day from now on. It's become a priority.
    3. All going well with the scan for my pregnant work colleague. She's about halfway there! And she let me sound off earlier this morning when work was winding me up.
    4. Enjoying reading lots of great fiction recently.
    5. My decorator finishing in my house. Se's done a great job. Now I just need to choose some carpet, then I'll be more or less done.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Have been reading this thread for a while and it always gives me such a nice feeling so thought it was about time I started adding my own pleasures. So here goes my five for today are

    1. Not shouting at my DD when she told me she had left PE kit on train (2nd this month).
    2. Making sure everyone had packed lunch full of homemade goodies
    3. After reading all tips on here managing to get weekly shop for under £20 normally at least double. Having a store cupboard raid.
    4. Going home to lovely cottage pie dinner already prepared just needs to go in oven.
    5. Knowing I am going to see my parents tomorrow and have Christmas dinner with them on Sunday. I know its not December yet but we won't see them again this side of Christmas so we are doing the whole Christmas thing early - tree, presents, crackers, dinner the lot

Evening everyone. Not posted for a couple of days :o

Muppet glad your bioposy went OK and crossing fingers for the result xx

Olliebeak - hope DGS calms down for a while at least xx

    Mine for today

Watching DD stuff her face with her tea - she's insisting on feeding herself most of her meals (only one I won't do is breakfast - weetabix is hard enough to get off the dish never mind anything else ;)).

Took kids to soft play centre this morning and they really enjoyed themselves )although DS is ailing quite badly with a cold now poor thing).

Making HM tortillas for chicken fahita's for tea :D

Going to treat myself to a small tipple of milk chocolate liquer from M&S - I can't stand Bailey's but I love this :D

Getting the bathroom nice and clean and managing to put the vac round too, even with DD in tow LOL!

Right better go and sort out cooking tea. H is starving so would like to have it nearly ready for when he gets in.
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.

Muppet - glad things went OK for you and I hope the results are good.

We're really ill! If this is swine flu, I see why there's such a fuss about it :-( Little son has barely got up today (he's 6 and a livewire) and we all had a 2 hour sleep this afternoon.

    Anyway, 5 for today...

    1) Not having to do the school run!

    2) Mum coming to wrap the presents for school that I was supposed to do for the Christmas Fair this weekend.

    3) Boys being good and not fighting (although they're probably too ill!)

    4) Lighting the fire and the house being reasonably tidy.

    5) Getting Mr T to deliver. I've never had a delivery before!

    Good evening everyone.

Tealady welcome2.gif So glad that you've joined us. It's an amazingly uplifting thread isn't it? I can feel very down, annoyed with the world & in a fight with my own shadow kind of mood and once I read a few of the pleasures I always feel better.

Muppet Glad it went ok for you and hope that the time flies until you get the results. Still thinking of you grouphug3.gif

Busy day today - food shopping, unpacking it all, making the spag bol for tea, clearing out MIL's flat a bit more, looking after one of DD's friends baby girl then parents evening at DS3's school :rotfl: Lots of pleasures though.

    1. It looks like I'll be under budget for the Grocery Challenge this month. Looks like all the careful penny watching since DH lost his job is paying off :j Plus we've eaten some fab meals packed full of veggies.

    2. Spooks is on tonight dancing.gif

    3. The baby girl I was looking after (6 months & adorable) was a joy. She cried a bit when her Mummy went but was soon gurgling and was an angel at parents evening.

    4. DS3 has settled into his high school very well. His form teacher said he's a pleasure to have in the class, he takes part in discussions, is popular with his friends (he didn't know a soul at this school apart from DS2 in September) and is 'awesome' on his brass instrument :T He's never played one before so we're very proud of him. The main thing is that he's happy & looks forward to going each morning.

    5. I've enjoyed the busyness of the day it's kept me from turning worries over in my mind too much.

Have a good evening everyone & HSarmhugs_9780.gif to everyone xxx

    Hi Everyone

    Mine for today:

1 Running out of washing up liquid so everything went in dishwasher today so a hole day of no washing up!!! I rarely use dishwasher but it was nice to have a 'shined sink' ALL day without me doing anything!!

2 Wearing scarf in the freezing cold today, all snug and warm!

3 Dh working from home today so I didnt have to take all kids on school run so much quicker

4 Having home made cinnamon biscuits dipped in Baileys cream that I got cheap in netto. Heaven!!!

5 Playing junior scrabble with ds1 and even though I beat him (thankfully, just!) he picked up the game really well. I cant believe how fast he is learning stuff. He really does amaze me every day.

6 Got my xmas present in the post from dh (he was here so I could show him what he got me!! :P) and with it a free gift which will do another xmas present for someone else!

Gonna have a go at starting a sock monkey now. Bit late but been soo busy and ds1 stayed up late as I lost track of time playing scrabble.

    Have a good evening all.
